  1. My favorite is the spro popper. I can throw it the the pads or pop it in open water, and a lot of places I fish are overrun with milfoil so it makes it a lot more convenient than a popper with treble hooks.
  2. I'm in assuming I can catch a fish, if it were a contest to see who could bring in the most tonnage of milfoil I would win hands down.
  3. I got them from promotive.com. Another member told me that abu gives great deals to military through that site. Also I think the reel is on the bass pro site and the rod has been on the dicks site for a while
  4. Went to stump pond today and got skunked, I had a few go for my topwaters but the all missed. I would definitely like to go back there.
  5. I recieved my veracity (6'6" MH) and revo rocket in the mail earlier this week. I've only had a chance to take it out a couple of times but so far I am thoroughly impressed. The first thing I noticed about it is how lightweight the combo feels, and to make it even better it balances extremely well. I have thrown a variety of lures on it and it handles them very well from 3/8-1oz. It casts very smoothly and I haven't had any bad backlashes with those weights. Anything lighter than that I wasn't able to cast without back lashing, I'm not sure if its the reel or my own ineptitude. The only lure I used that I felt the retrieve was too fast for was a 1/2 oz spinner bait with double Colorado blades. I own the vendetta, veritas, villain and now the veracity and in my opinion the veracity is the best of the bunch. If you are looking for a new topwater setup I would give this a serious look. I will add to this if there are any questions about the rod or reel as I give it more time on the water.
  6. I used to only fish spinning but I think I got the bait casting bug, I now find myself reaching for my baitcaster more. The only time I really use spinning anymore is for weightless flukes and senkos.
  7. Vendetta with a lews tournament mg
  8. Caught 3 pickerel and a 7" bass at Ames long pond this morning
  9. Thanks for the tips guys. I think I was setting the hook to early. Went back to the same spot this morning and already got 2 fish. Not so sure about hogs, the bass I caught was about 8 inches
  10. I was not using a sinker. Several times the hook was pulled through the senko/fluke. Maybe the hook became dislodged, I didn't know that about the ewg because one second I would be fighting the fish and then the next I have a senko flying right at me.
  11. I think the most I've paid for a single lure is 10-12$ for a frog, but if you think about it senkos are probably the most expensive over a season. Right now in my tackle box I probably have at least 4 different colors of senko not to mention craws, flukes and other plastics. At 3$-8$ a bag that adds up real quick.
  12. Texas rig on 4/0 gamatatsu ewg hook
  13. Today I went out fishing and I didn't land a single fish. I had 5-6 on the line but every time they got off. I was fishing weightless senkos and flukes on a 6'8" st croix avid M XF. Normally when I fish senkos it doesn't take much to set the hook but today left me wondering what I'm doing wrong.
  14. I like pickerel they put up a bigger fight than LMB
  15. The abu garcia cardinal is a nice reel for 40$, however IMO the orra s is worth the extra money.
  16. I've been using braid for all of my set ups since 90% of the places around me are overrun with weeds. Power pro: I have it in 20 lb on my spinning and 65 lb on my baitcaster and I really like it (except for when I backlash) Berkley pro braid: had it on one of my spinning set ups for a little bit but the color comes off very quickly Spider wire: I have used it in the past and had no problems with it
  17. I lost the legs off my spro king daddy because they bit the legs and didn't take the entire frog
  18. Black shore minnow Zara spook
  19. I have a veritas 7' M with a revo s30 spooled up with 20lb braid and I throw everything from weightless senkos to super spooks on it without any problems. When you cast do you think it's a problem with the rod or reel? Could be the guides or maybe the line isn't coming off the reel properly. Also 10lb mono seems pretty big for a spinning reel esp a 2500
  20. I think the spool tension plays a bigger role in backlashes than the brakes
  21. My veritas is my go to rod, I have a premier and an avid but I always find myself reaching for the veritas
  22. It wasn't the spool, I guess I just got a dud. I'm going to return it.
  23. I recent purchased a shimano saros spinning reel and sometimes when I flipped the bail it would hit the spool. Has anyone else run into this on a saros?
  24. Ya I would return it again. Also as far as inexpensive reels go I like the abu cardinal series, I have 3 that I've been using for 6 years with no problems
  25. For 50-100 I would buy a quantum combo from dicks. 6-7 ft medium rod.
