  1. I own the rocket(as far as I can tell a red premier with 9:1 gear ratio) and a revo elite and I am a huge fan of the ivcb brake system, it's very user friendly and I hardly ever backlash.
  2. Save 20$ and get the 7ft mh vendetta. That's what I use for frogging and it does a great job.
  3. I have a 7' mh vendetta that I only use for frogging and I like it a lot. For 80$ it's a good rod. If you're going to go with a vendetta I would go with the 6'9" ML spinning for the drop shot, senkos if you want to also. Out of all of the abu rods I'm most impressed with the veracity. I don't know the exact weight of each rod but the veracity I have balances perfectly and feels weightless in my hand
  4. I have a premier casting rod mh, and a avid spinning med. I think that the avid is worth the extra money. The avid is by far the most sensitive rod I own (compared to the entire abu V series, premier and triumph) and the lifetime warranty is nice.
  5. Unfortunately for me there's a bass pro about 20 minutes from my house so I do most of my shopping there. If they don't have what I'm looking for I order from TW
  6. Spro bronzeye 65 frog in killer gill, right now I'm itching to try the new bronzeye shad
  7. Have you tried ebay? Also does anyone know the difference between the ltx and mgx. As far as I can tell it just has a more shallow spool and mag brakes vs the ivcb
  8. I've got 8 spro frogs and most of my bites come from the killer gill color, after that my favorite is the black popper Also the bronzeye shad is supposed to be easier to walk than the regular frog.
  9. 7 ft med veritas spinning. I've used every lure I own on that rod without a problem.
  10. It's very shore friendly, it's also very small. It's not the most productive place but there's fish in there.
  11. I haven't been the blue hills in a couple of months. My primary spots are the needham reservoir and Longfellow pond in Wellesley.
  12. I'm not sure what my problem is but I seem to get a lot of phantom backlashes on my lews mg. I use 50 lb braid on it and I only use this reel for frogging so I rarely change the lure. I can get it zeroed in pretty well but every now and then it will just blow up on me. I'm not swinging for the fences when I cast it, I just feel like I'm rolling the dice every time I cast it. Has anyone had a similar experience or have any idea what I'm doing wrong?
  13. I voted quantity, most days I'm happy if I can catch A fish never mind a big one.
  14. I'm eyeballing the revo elite right now. Does anyone know if this is a limited time thing?
  15. I've owned shimano (saros), pflueger (president and patriarch), and abu garcia (cardinal, orra s, revo s, and premier) and I am most impressed with abu. IMO spinning reels don't get much better as the price goes up, if I were to buy another reel is probably get another abu orra s, it works just as well as the others I've used and won't set you back too much money. I will say that the patriarch is probably the best out of the ones I have used, it is the lightest and has a buttery smooth retrieve. My only gripe is that I occasionally get loops on the spool.
  16. A very simple and strong knot is the palomar knot, if you look it up on YouTube it will show you how to do it. There is also an app called knot wars that is very useful. A lot of people buy gear from tackle warehouse online, and you can buy a lot of gear below retail on ebay.
  17. I've had 65lb red power pro on my frog rod for about a month now. I haven't noticed much color loss and I've gotten no color on my thumb. As far as deterring a bite it hasn't turned them off frogs, but those are topwater so I'm not sure if it would affect sub surface lures
  18. I use a MH vendetta and it works great
  19. I think that the veritas is a good rod and if got one I think you would be happy with it. I will agree it does not feel like a 200$ rod. I have a 7 ft medium (spinning) that I use to throw every lure under the sun. I have not used the revo s, but I do have a lews tournament mg which is around the same price. So far I'm pretty pleased with this reel.
  20. Got this hawg too
  21. Went out early this morning, had a pretty productive day. One was 14" the other is 13.5
  22. I wonder how they are going to wrap it up with only a few episodes left
  23. Pickerel will hit pretty much any bass lure, and I actually prefer them over bass. In the winter I fish for trout.
  24. I don't need a 9:1 ratio, it was more of an impulse buy. It is great for buzzbaits, and I use it mostly for topwater The thing that impresses me most about the reel is how smooth it is while casting. I can cast further with less effort than I can with my lews tournament mg.
