  1. If you're going to be fishing a lot of treble hook baits I would just stick with mono instead of braid, sometimes with braid it will get tangled with the hooks, also I think it's beneficial to have a little bit of give in the line with trebles. Personally I like pline cxx, it's cheap, tough, and doesn't have as much stretch as regular mono but more than braid.
  2. Looks like there's still a lot of ice out on the water, guess I'll wait until spring
  3. I'm a huge fan of the veritas, for an all around rod I would get a medium if you end up getting one. Although I like them I'm not sure a veritas would be my first choice for cranks, if that's what you primarily fish they make a winch version which has a more moderate action.
  4. We've had a couple of unusually warm days around here and some of the ice is starting to melt. I'm gonna go out on Wednesday to try to get some pickerel or bass. Assuming i can find a spot to fish what would be some lures to start with?
  5. This was a very informative read. Mods can you pin this?
  6. I dont do that type of fishing very often so I cant give much input, but I will say that Abu rods are generally pretty stout. I would say you would be safe with the 7'3" MH unless you're tossing jigs into some real heavy stuff. The heavy abus are absolute brutes.
  7. I used to fish with a couple of 50ish $ quantum combos from dicks
  8. There is absolutely no shortage of pan fish around my area and lead sinkers and jigs are already banned in MA. Also i dont think there is any real feasible way to regulate what people do/dont take. I've never once been asked if i had a fishing license nor have I ever seen anyone enforce any sort of fishing regulations in my area, probably due to lack of funding.
  9. The president is a solid choice, also the abu garcia cardinal
  10. See if you can try the reels out on your rod. I thought that a stradic fj would balance out my avid better, but when I tried it on my rod in the store I realized it just made the set up feel heavier and not necessarily more balanced.
  11. I've had pretty good luck at bakers meadow pond in Andover. It's a small pond with good bank fishing. It's a weird spot to get too, I usually park at the end of a residential street (I'll have to look it up on google maps) and there's a small path between 2 wooden fences that leads back to the pond.
  12. I've got one, it's pretty much a red super fast premier. It's light and casts very well. I will say that the finish scratches very easily.
  13. I want to catch a SM, i know we got them up here i just have to find them.
  14. ive got 20lb braid on my orra s
  15. I only buy GY senkos in odd ball colors that i like, for staples like watermelon i buy the BPS stick-o's
  16. I've never seen anything swimming around that looks like a neon yellow senko but it's my #1 lure.
  17. I loosen the spool tension and crank up the brakes
  18. i either use my knife or the little scissors i have on a swiss army knife, whichever i have on me when i go fishing.
  19. I prefer iPhones over android because they are simple and easy. I also like that they are smaller than most androids, I don't know how guys own a galaxy note without owning a murse. I've grown very accustomed to iOS so when I use an android it feels very foreign. If you've ever had an iphone before you'll like the 5, if not try an iphone and an android side by side and see what you like better.
  20. Spro bronze eye in killer gill is my #1 frog, after that it's a black spro popper. I just got a koppers field mouse for Christmas, can't wait to try that out
  21. If the exchange rate is more favorable in Korea then I would buy it there
  22. I either texas rig it like above or use a jig head.
  23. Most of my rods are 7ft, but I prefer 6'6". I find anything over 7 to be cumbersome, maybe it's because I'm not that tall.
  24. I use 20lb power pro in my spinning set ups. I live in MA too, I prefer braid because it's easier to pull your lures out of weeds and I think it's a lot more manageable than mono.
