I think zman must have changed the hooks they use, used a brand new one today (original) and it had a pretty sticky hook. That being said I don't know how long it will stay sharp but it seemed like pretty good quality
The best word I can think of is it feels organic. I don't know if that makes sense to you or not. Also there's a lot of times when something just feels off or different. Any time I think there is even a remote chance of a bite I set the hook
Its on 135 going to needham center, a mile or so past dedham medical. It's a really small pond but it's shore friendly and it's got fish it there. If you get off 95 at exit 17 go left, go down the road about a mile. You'll go over the Charles river (I assume it's the Charles just a small little river) and immediately past the Charles is a set of lights. Go through the lights and it's right there on the right. If you see public works/gov cars there it's the right place.
I wouldn't go out of my way to go there but if you're in the area it's worth a stop. I have most luck by the pads on the left side of the pond. I think they stock it with trout too
Went to spot pond in Winchester after work today, this place is huge. Only managed one small bass. Not sure how good this place is gonna be but I'm definitely gonna come back.
For those curious it's shore fishing only, to get to it take exit 34 off 93 then take the first right and you can park on that street. There's other access to it but that's where I went today
I think you're underestimating today's kayaks. A lot are designed from the ground up for fishing, most include rod holders mounting tracks and some way to mount a fish finder. That being said at the end of the day it's still a kayak and larger boats would be more accommodating but they are still very capable bass slaying machines.
Heavy braid on bass gear has more to do with the diameter of the line rather than the breaking strenght. 20lb braid would be more than sufficient for most bass fishing, but it's so thin it digs in on itself easier. If I had to take a guess ( I don't use leaders very often) people try to match the diameter of the leader to the main line.
I use 30lb braid for stripers but 65lb braid for LMB, go figure.
Capt bob the green 832 lost color a lot faster than my PP (regular don't have much experience with slick). Had a green thumb for about a day then the line turned almost white. Just spooled up some sunline fx2, so far I like it but I don't see any real advantage over PP
The dark green 832 went from green to almost white within a few outings for me. Happened with all 3 spools I have. Also to answer the OP I use both 20lb power pro and 832 on my spinning reels. Red, green, yellow, bass don't really seem to care
I prefer the regular spro frog to the shad, I can see it better in the water. The shad sits really low to the water and I can't always tell what it's doing
I want to get a cumara for my next rod, however I'm not very familiar with shimano rods and how to gauge their powers/actions.
I'm looking for a rod to throw 3/8 t rigs and jigs. The two I'm looking at right now are the 6'8" mh fast and 6'8" mh xfast.
Which rod in this series would you recomend?
This summer has actually been pretty nice up here in mass. I remember it being more hot and humid but it has been comfortable out. Fall is my favorite season but I don't mind the summer sticking around a little longer
