  1. Century weapon jr its an inshore rod, but I use it to throw similar lures off the beach
  2. I’m thinking about selling off all my low profiles to get more round reels, the only two I think I’ll keep are the OG zillion and the core 51
  3. I like round reels…
  4. I use my kistler helium iii 6'8 light mh for spinnerbaits, jerkbaits, topwater, squarebills, traps. It's a good jack of all trades rod, although it does lack some hook setting power with heavier single hooks like jigs.
  5. If you're going to fish just plastics get the mxf, if you want a more versatile rod get the mf. I have a Stella 2500 on my legend elite 6'6 mf, it used to be on my avid 6'8 mxf.
  6. Hit wachusett for about 3 hours this afternoon, landed a 3.3lb largemouth. Felt good to be out on the water, haven't been getting out as much as I would like. Hope everyone had a good 4th.
  7. I like the cabelas backpack, I think I got it for 63$ on sale, and it's on sale pretty regularly. I find myself using a regular backpack just as often.
  8. I have a tatula and a curado I , I've also used lews reels before. Between the tatula and curado you could really flip a coin, both are phenomenal reels. If I were to buy another reel reel right now if opt for the curado over the tatula just because it's smaller and I find it more comfortable, performance wise it's a wash. If you can get your hands on these feels at the store I would buy whichever one feels better in hand, you won't be disappointed by either.
  9. Poseidon smiled upon me today. Ended up getting 6 striper at the beach. Most of them were small, one was a borderline keeper (didn't have a tape on me). I'll try to get some pics up later
  10. Hardly been out at all so far, about to hit the beach and see if te fish are cooperating
  11. You should be able to find a Daiwa tatula below retail online. Great reel
  12. Black and blue zman with a rage menace trailer. fish it low and slow.
  13. I think the nrx is pretty overrated. Don't get me wrong it's a great rod, but I think once you get over about 200$ there's not too much of a difference. I had a st croix avid, upgraded to a nrx, then bought a legend elite on clearance (all spinning). I still use the legend, occasionally the avid, plan on selling the nrx. I would say the nrx and legend are better than the avid, but not significantly so. The biggest difference is the weight not the sensitivity, and even that is negligible. I wouldn't buy another legend or nrx unless they were heavily discounted, but I'm glad that I bought them so I don't ever think "what if". Not trying to talk you out of a nrx or tell you how to spend your money, just my two cents.
  14. Found 4 on me and 3 on my dog yesterday. Usually I treat my clothes with permethrin and use off deep woods.
  15. Thanks for the reply. Can you elaborate more on your salt use. I plan to use this kayak inshore and off the beach, as well as freshwater. I'm also considering an ocean kayak trident or trident ultra, but the seat on the ATAK is a big selling point to me. Also what size paddle are you using , 240, 250?
  16. Does anyone on here have an atak. I'm planning on testing one soon but I want to hear from someone that owns one. What do you like, what don't you like. How bad is the weight for car topping? Also if anyone has taken one out in salt/big water how does it handle.
  17. Went out for a little bit last night, and again this afternoon. Managed a decent pickerel and a small smallie.
  18. I use a cheap pair of scissors that came with a pair of pliers, I also use a lighter when I forget the scissors.
  19. I like my kistler helium 3 6'8 light mh. It's rated up to 7/8 but I think that's pretty generous, and it would throw what you want nicely. I mostly use mine for top water and spinnerbaits, but have also used it for senkos.
  20. If you're trying to save money I would look around craigslist for a used kayak. Also imo the most important feature of a kayak by far is the seat.
  21. Went out for a couple hours Sunday morning. It was freezing and I didn't catch anything, still nice to be out though. I hope everyone had a good Easter.
  22. Good call on the avid, I think it's noticeably better than the premier and worth the extra money. I think the ml xfast, mxf, or the mf would do the trick. I use both the 6'8 mxf and a 6'6 mf and I'm not sure which one I like better.
  23. If I could only take one bait with me it would be the trick worm
  24. St croix avid, ltb, or legend 6'8" mxf or 7' mf, and a shimano 2500 size spinning reel, stradic fj, fk, ci4 etc
