  1. I've had best luck on high tide. I only throw a frog. 50# braid on a heavy rod. If I had to choose, I would launch out of Pohick. Work the creeks or where ever you see grass or pads. In low tide they can be difficult to find away from banks.
  2. The rock area I found was on the east side maybe 50' from the shoreline. I saw minnows in there and the area looks like it has great potential. I haven't seen any perch yet. I'll concentrate more on the crank bait next time I go out.
  3. I recently bought a used Pelican Bass Raider 10E. I went through some growing pains but thank you to all who have contributed to this thread. My set up has the TM on the bow and I believe it's much easier to control + fish with it up front. I did upgraded from 30lb to 55lb thrust motor mainly because the 30lb had difficulty fighting windy days on the water. I always anchor on the main lake. I added two flush mount rod holders in the back and 2 Scotty rod holders on each side. I added the floor with carpet which makes it so much easier to stand up. The floor is in 2 sections for easy removal and install. The rear section has the straps for the battery box. I have a ram mount for the depth finder/gps up front. I did experience tracking issues (especially when solo) and rigged a rudder which works like a champ. I also made my own dolly to take it across the street to a small pond by myself.
  4. That's good info CMG, thank you. I did find the bridge but didn't get any bites. It was pretty windy and my bass tub doesn't handle well in the wind. I did find some rocks in shallow water...almost looked like they were stacked there. I've been getting some fish working the grass edges with frogs and a pop-r. I have caught a few on sinkos but nothing on a weighted worm. Maybe I put too much weight and too large of a worm. I have been luckier in the morning bite than the evening bite. I went last Sunday and the place was packed. I definitely prefer going during the week.
  5. I've been getting the morning bites. The rest of the day has been slow. Caught a nice SM but I don't know how to post pics yet.
  6. Hi, I'm new to the forum. I sold my bass boat last year but just bought a Pelican Bass Raider to fish the BDR. I went twice last week and really struggled. I was searching the bottom with sonar w/ gps and was surprised how there is very little structure in the lake. I'm still searching for the bridge and sunken boats. I am also looking to get a kayak for creeks feeding the Potomac River and Shenandoah River. I caught my first snakehead last month in a kayak and it was a blast. I hope to see you on the water.
