  1. In person of course- on your way to Biwa
  2. Anywhere but pointing the tip at the fish!
  3. Agreed! No monsters in them yet and I'm still learning to use swimmers of that type but both are really cool for creeping along the bottom. Def a nice approach to have in weeded areas and low current rivers too!
  4. Fwiw you're both right. I had just lost a frog to a very large pickerel on heavy braid and tied that on... Frogged a bit more and she got slurped by what would likely have been my PB- when I set the hook it just blew up. If angry was a 10, I was easily 65,000 or so haha I could NOT win that day.
  5. Fish 'em like you stole 'em!
  6. The only reasons I can think of to use only one rod would be thus: you only have one rod or you only have room for one rod. (Carrying, etc)
  7. Saw the other thread, and figured a more positive one was in order. I personally tried a ton of new gear this year and have settled on a few things that have a definite place in my tackle box moving forward. I've gotten way WAY into fishing heavy cover. Pads, laydown, submerged structure, weed beds and channels, you name it... I barely fished open, rocky water or even anything 20+ all year. It was a big "focus on the structure and heavy cover" year for me, and almost all of my new favorites are snagless/weedless in some way or another. My favorite finds of this year have got to be thus: Northland jawbreakers Deps slither Ks Evergreen kicker frogs 1/4oz Owner flashy swimmers w/ 5.5" Bento swims I'm sure I'll think of more but that's probably a decent start. What did you try this year that was a total WIN??
  8. At $100 I'd rate a Supreme XT at around a 13 or 14 haha
  9. I have the BB1 Pro and as much as I love it for frogs and big stuff I would TOTALLY buy the T-lite for that.
  10. Thinking about getting a do-it-all crankbait rod for next season and the 7' Flat Side Special has made my short list. Anybody use this rod? I'm looking for it to do ~10' deep cranks or less, spinnerbaits, traps, buzzjets, bigger inlines like snagless sallies and probably even 5/8oz wakebaits like the CL8 mighty mouse, bettencourt rodent and the like... The faster action rods I have now simply aren't cutting it for these and I'm missing out on action and hooksets. I know everyone hates the terms, but I need a one rod quiver- I have one slot and I need a rod that will make me happy over a wide range of vibrating & wobbling baits. I am also a sucker for well made things so while I'm sure others could make me happy, I am intrigued by the Megabass line so your thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!
  11. It makes me uncomfortable too sometimes... But what can I say? It's a burden I'm willing to bear!!
  12. As a primarily kayak fisherman, with rods on both sides of my cockpit there are only a few options- either side arm cast or overhead. I don't care what anybody else thinks about it tbh haha
  13. I wonder if they'll come out with a Kathy Bates Pro model For real though, I really do want some of those bearded charmers... They look creepy as hell, what bass would let that creeper bum craw lurk around their pond?? None!
  14. It looks like you went pumpkin pickin' Dwight!
  15. Wait, you don't have that one?!?? You really are in a nightmare!
  16. I stop when I get a message saying dinner is 15 mins from the table Call me anything but late for dinner! As far as the season goes, I stop fishing when I can go skiing and I stop skiing when the fishing weather returns and all the snow is gone.
  17. Lunker city makes great products. Never tried their jigs though. Not sure where you are in Mass but you could go to Meriden and ask. They're really awesome people down there- AND you can get a steamed cheeseburger while you're down there!
  18. NRX 852c green+ Curado 51e. Didn't pay anywhere near retail though. I actually have about the exact same amount into my frog rod since it was all retail, and that's a 7'2" 13 *** Black HXF + BB1 Pro.
  19. Think of bass as the Andrew Zimmern of fish- if it looks good, they'll eat it. Heck, throw a squido on a shaky head and I bet it catches stuff. It's all about the action and presentation... With a little luck, of course
  20. Ok, I have always thought about that type of a rod holder- now I'm definitely going to have to make one. Nice work man!!
  21. Thanks! I think I will have probably start a thread about it soon, I have in depth questions and don't want to derail this thread.
  22. It's settled. My winter project is to find a sensible 14ft aluminum boat to intelligently customize so I can bring my 8yo stepson out more easily to have Quabbin- and so I don't get hosed on the dock like last time when they were out of rentals. (They need conservation seals to be allowed on, so you need a dedicated boat) It has to happen. I need it in my life!! That said, what say you oh wise boat sages- v bottom or flat bottom? (Small motor, low deck and sensible seating)
  23. Glass boats are cool, but nowhere near a necessity. An aluminum boat will get you started and many are available with sensible seating, storage and deck options. There is no need to over-invest right off the bat. Besides, you should have your EXPERIENCED wants and needs in a row before you spend big $$$ on a glass boat IMO. That and heavy boats can't go all the places flat bottoms can and there's something to be said for that!
