  1. There's always that one guy.
  2. No line is too light as long as your drag is set below it's breaking strength! ?? Fireline is ok, a bit stiff and tends to get squished out of round but it's tough stuff for its size. If it was free it was worth every penny ? I'd just spool it up. I don't do backing. Never felt the need to do it and I don't see the advantage when the line was free anyways.
  3. That happened to me one time with a slide swimmer. Got home and it was gone. I said "Oh HELL no" and drove back to where I was fishing and then retraced my path driving SLOWLY. Found that baby on the third corner, no worse for wear. BOOM!!
  4. The Perfect Pitch and the Antares DC were new to me this season, got them out on the water Sunday and OH MAN... Perfection. Exactly what I was looking for!! That Antares is like a rail gun for baits- even a 3/8 trick darter was off like a bullet. That PP has a killer flex profile and backbone too, very pleased!
  5. Not yet I just got my kayak moved up here and have been out once. Also my main spot has only been sans ice for a week, pads and topwater in general are a ways off still. I did just capitalize on a DSG sale for a bunch of green tea pocket frogs @B3G3, so I made up a bunch of extras. I'm definitely ready for it!
  6. Seriously. I don't even want to get into posting pics of the train car trout that have popped up in the past few years. ??
  7. Just wondering... Do you have any idea how huge the trout get up north???
  8. I'd give that rationalization a 6/10, not even close to wifeworthy. Better work on that ?
  9. Im a big fan of the ghost natural patterns.
  10. I dont care what's on the menu, every big girl wants hors d'oeuvres.
  11. I see no problem here. The family is endlessly fortunate that you didn't find Megabass until the kids were out of the house, though.
  12. Its not that the lure boats track uneven, they're just set to spin off when a gnat farts. If you get one, get the rudder or a hand paddle. Their hull will be lovely for their pedal drive, but just ok for paddling as it pivots on the low center. It's a really nice boat to poke around the lake fishing but it simply isn't a competent distance paddler. You can make it do anything too, I'm just trying to give my honest criticism as an owner- and actually I love the boat, just a little let down by the effort the hull requires at times.
  13. I'd go ATAK. I have the Lure 11.5 and while it's super stable, packed with features and very comfy it tracks like a bathtub and that drives me nuts at times. Wildy hulls are generally faster and straighter tracking.
  14. Exactly. Taking the name directly is pretty much the one thing they shouldn't do when cloning baits/tech for domestic sale. It's just not smart, unless they are trying to wallpaper a cubicle with C&D orders or something lol
  15. The ONLY area this comes into sketchy copyright infringement zone is through their usage of the word "plopper". if I was a R2S lawyer I'd be using my big red stamp right now. Prop baits aren't new, but knocking off a specific product AND it's name is asking for trouble. They were likely pulled from the site for those exact legal reasons and will be renamed when they reappear. To the few who snagged them you may now have a limited edition misreleased product. May want to keep that in the original packaging! ???
  16. This is more my speed as well, but big name waters have an allure all their own. Given that he has a whole month, I'd say there's plenty of time for both ???
  17. Its not that bad. I love CXX, as it has very little stretch, is tough stuff and is also cheap.
  18. Everybody has had their favorite flavor, nothing wrong with that at all! I was simply having fun with the fact that no matter what the thread or technique in question, there's ALWAYS a guy using Big Game for it. Of course mono is fine for spinners and jigs! The stereotypical attributes many assign to lines are BS. Use whatever works for your situation and you enjoy the feel of! ???
  19. I always opt for faster reels. My line of thinking is that it's easier to learn to slow your hand down while imparting action than it is to wind like a rabid wild man back to the boat when you're trying to hurry to the next cast. Also for topwater you you really want to be able to take up slack if you're walking the dog quickly. Same with jigs- no such thing as a reel too fast for jigs IMO.
  20. FX2 is SUPER durable braid, but I found it to be incredibly rough and relatively large in diameter. Ti recoil guide users may want to opt for a smoother, 8 carrier braid. Otherwise it's awesome though. Really tough stuff!
  21. There are a ton of ways to fix it. You could epoxy patch it, you could fill the inside with closed cell foam, you could ptex it you could plastic weld it.... Depends on how much you want to spend and how much time you want to invest as well as access to materials and skills etc. if if it's a drain plug you could just find the offending plug and epoxy it closed forever if there's alternative means of draining it.
  22. I think the question you should ask yourself is "why not?!" Try it and see! ??
  23. I feel like there are posters here who would use Big Game as the sole material they'd employ in rebuilding society after an extinction level event. I use CXX for all my clear line needs because it's super tough, I hate stretch and spending money sucks.
  24. Aaahahahaha There are definitely a few of those around ?
