  1. Quabbin on the main lake side. If you don't have electronics and depth finders your chance of finding fish out there are slim to none.
  2. I caved and got one of the Kanan Relic Fatty swimbaits in golden shiner on their BF sale of 30% off. It is far from my normal type of presentation but for $13 shipped I couldn't not buy it. They seemed to be out of just about everything.
  3. I know it sounds ridiculous but I can't catch a fish on a hard jerkbait to save my life. Swap it for a t-rigged soft plastic jerkbait and I fill the boat. I don't get it.
  4. I'm about to glue a guide screw plug into the tail hole of a Slither K so I can screw on worm tails.
  5. The OP. I thought your breakdown was very nice. In any case, I said I was laughing right? Opinions are just that. Flouro leaders have their place, but are far from an "I've seen it too many times" kind of thing IMO. Lots of circumstances not to use one.
  6. I have to laugh whenever someone insists any one technique or style is a constant across all of fishing, or that their way is the only way. Whatever you say dude!!
  7. I REALLY wish there was a nice local shop around here. All we've got is WelfareMart and DSG so I get stuck spending online mostly. I vastly prefer to spend locally so it does kind of bother me that I don't even have an option to. Chains are ok but I prefer to support small local businesses whenever possible.
  8. My lean green fish catchin' machine. NRX 852c & Curado 51e
  9. No, that really is the point. If you're moving too fast on a bait that will give resistance like a crank, it will exert a higher amount of energy and thus be harder and more taxing for your rod hand to cope with for long periods.
  10. Well... I hope the kids are gonna like their jigs, cuz there isn't enough money for these AND toys.
  11. Yeah I can totally sympathize- I just got bitten hard by a similar monkey- I have a ton of really nice airbrushing stuff- pumps, guns, hoses, tables, clamps, paints out the wazoo, texture kits, etc. etc. etc. sitting around from a past hobby and just pulled it out of mothballs to restart my love for intricate paint and foil techniques. I just ordered a 10 lot of some of my favorite crank blanks, a bunch of custom feathered trebles and I'm having a go at some of my favorite looks myself. I figured it'll help me get through the wintertime while my fishing stoke is still high but I'm still months away from making a cast. Pretty excited to get back on it to be honest... I love making things myself- every detail is yours to control.
  12. PM Sent, I am in! Can't even say how much this place has helped me step my fishing game up since I joined! Stoked to send somebody a nice care package! I hope my custom supplies get here soon!!!
  13. I'd be lying if I said I didn't have a 6' Amp medium spinning rod with a supreme XT and some 4# line on it for the little guy. Perfect beater rod- cheap, tough, the one pieces have a pretty decent action and backbone. Certainly no complaints for the $!
  14. I have never fished the MG but I have been very pleasantly surprised at how smooth, quiet and stout the plain old SS is. Didn't expect it to be anywhere near as good as it is.
  15. If it's centered I don't doubt that for a second. I love centered tail frogs like the Slither K- that center point tail seems to pivot the best IMO. A worm tail would make it like a soft, floating CL8 Mighty Mouse and that would fkn SLAY. I've actually got one that's nearing the end of it's tail life now- my shooting star colored one. I can see now that I should probably glue in a screw guide instead of another tail plug and try on a few different profiles and colors and keep notes. I already know I want to stick an Uptons Aaron's Trajic dragon tail on there and see what happens
  16. I had no idea you made baits... Now I want one!
  17. I love how seemingly the simplest questions bring about the best and most in depth conversations sometimes. As simple as fishing probably seems to an onlooker, it's insane the amount of considerations that are included in every cast and retrieve. No aspect of any part of what you put out there "doesn't matter" and IMO that's what makes it so much fun.
  18. Awwwww yeah, that's got to be a great stick!! I have their HXF ***, absolutely amazing rod. So versatile and sooooo sexy. Good grab!
  19. Sorry I missed that part. I have never fished the GLX.
  20. Pics or it didn't happen Nice day out!!!
  21. Very much so. I have the 852c green and love it for everything light and tiny but nobody ever talks about how underrated these rods are as far as weight rating. The 852 is rated to 3/8oz but I'd say it has the power to easily go higher. The backbone in these NRX rods is unbelievable, they are extremely stout. As with all finesse rods, I'd want to stick w the lower power if I could, as it will cast much better. If say unless you were planning on throwing around baits at the high end of that rating I would stick with the 2 power. It's a hell of a stick and it will surprise you with how powerful it actually is.
  22. I separate by depth. I try to keep my box as simple as possible so I am constantly dialing in and getting rid of stuff that didn't work so well. These are the trays though: Wakebaits/poppers/surface baits 1-4ft 5-10ft 11-20ft+ There are a lot of in-between depths and within those separations there's rattling and silent and different profiles etc. but that's the basic breakdown that keeps it easy to wade through for me. By breaking it down to 4 basic ranges I can simplify the basics. Depth and then noise, wobble and color get dialed for the conditions.
  23. Nice! Some of my favorite rods and untouchable at their price point. What size and action?
