  1. Sounds like he missed a spot. No reel should be loud or getting louder. It HAS to be due to grime/grease buildup or something going wrong. I would take an evening, clean and flush it out top to bottom and lightly oil the races and all contact surfaces and see how she does. If it still makes noise just sell it and get an LFS.
  2. I'd say something with trebles that will stay up top. Maybe give her a wakebait or topwater of some kind so she can visually watch the fish strike it and learn from there. Maybe a Roumba or a CL8 Mighty Mouse or jitterbug etc? I'm thinking steady retrieve that will stay in sight and get hammered periodically. I'd love to say a frog but if she's not a hook setter there's just no way she will enjoy that.
  3. I like the cut of your jib good sir.
  4. 600yds of 6# Yo-Zuri Hybrid for a light spinning setup mostly for small cranks and drop shotting.
  5. I really like the rod too... It's retina-searingly obnoxious but not in a cheap looking Rod'l McDonald way like those awful red/yellow halos. It's in a very good way. 10/10 would anger old folks with.
  6. Well what 3 combos are you working with? Honestly if you have been fishing around and they aren't biting, I'm guessing they are not up top. I'd lean more towards deeper presentations in times like that when the skunk just won't let go. Shakyhead, jigging, drop shot, c-rig, nail weighted weedless hudd shad... Anything I could think of to send to the bottom and still be withing weight on my gear I'd be doing just that until I found something that worked. They're usually either there or locked in weeds and cover if I can't find them using regular open water tactics.
  7. Y'all need to go look at some Snagless Sally variations. LOVE THEM. I always keep a 3/8pz Craw with a baby craw pit boss trailer, the 1/2oz chart/lime w a white grub trailer and a 1/2oz bruiser with a blue flake pit boss chunk. The three make a great combo. Lots of vibration, compact profile, super durable and pretty darn snagless. They even make the Super Sally now and I'll definitely be grabbing a smokey shad to stick a kietech or worm tail on the back of this season! I have all but given up traditional spinnerbaits I like them so much. I wish they came in more sizes and colors!!!
  8. At a game dinner I attend every year with a friend. Not only did they have about 150 kinds of wild game in this guy's outdoor pavillion/kitchen/BBQ pit area, a deer carcass bonfire and a full bar, they had a big 'ol pond with handfed (lots of wild game from what I'm told too!) fish in it. Biggest darn submarines I've ever laid eyes on. I got the meat sweats watching those manatees come up to periscope depth to slurp scraps and cruise the shoreline for their adoring fans.
  9. I feel like wives everywhere are banding together to invent a new look to give you for even mentioning the new Megabass. There may even be a womemo circulating about it now
  10. I honestly would love to know in what manner Lunk3rhunt has smited BR to have their very name blocked as if it was a swear word lol
  11. BEST walking frog is the Slither K BEST chug/tug frog is a Lunk3rhunt Lunker frog w a lake fork trailer hook. BEST cheap all around hollow body bait that is easy to find is hands down the Livetarget field mouse. They get shredded but they also get slammed by everything.
  12. That's funny. Yeah looks like #20-30 may be the call there haha
  13. That rod looks like it's a light saber from the fabulous side of the force hahaha I love it!!
  14. I'm down. PM coming!
  15. I just laughed so hard. I hope I didn't wake anyone.
  16. I heard it doesn't just catch the fish it catches their hopes, dreams and their soul. It stores them in the handle and the greater the volume of souls the louder the sirens' song the rod emits to it's next victim.
  17. Different strokes See the neat thing is how many different ways there are to skin the proverbial cat, and each individual's taste is different. There are as many answers and perspectives as there are colors in the Ito catalog. I wanted to spread it around, personally. I do also want to keep my small quiver as sexy as it can be. I can only have a few rods so you bet they are eye candy haha
  18. I have never heard of it but from the sounds of that thing I feel like Speedbead might have 3.
  19. I have to vent... You guys are awesome. I've always liked fishing as a kid and have many fond memories but never got reeeally into it until a few years ago. It was an impromptu fishing trip for a friend who was going through some really tough times that turned into the greatest day ever- it was GLORIOUS. We still talk about it now! It took that day to really open my eyes and become a huge focal point in my mind and the obsession had begun but I still had no idea what I was doing. I mean, how do you even begin to learn when you don't really know many people that fish and the ones who do aren't serious at all? Bass Resource, that's how. I mean dang, between Glenn dropping so much video knowledge I have to wear steel toes when I watch 'em to the individuals that fill it with nonstop experience, humor and insight... You can't help but learn. It's like a fire burning and just about all of you have helped me stoke it in some way. It's insane to think of all the things I learned between lurking, searching, reading, watching and then finally participating more recently. It's been a heck of a run so far and it's just the beginning- I still have so much to learn. So yeah, just wanted to take a minute to say thanks and give you all a big fat cyber high five for being yourselves. I really have appreciated all the enabling, the stories and the experience. Without you guys I'd be stuck sleeping in and having all kinds of money lying around and we can't be having that!! Cheers!
  20. Yep. Winter kill. We get it in Mass too. One of my favorite honey holes gets a pretty big die off in as winters and this one should be no exception.
  21. I went there to look at plastics but those dredge jigs are just sooooo d**n sexy.
  22. Well most courses will have a larger body of water nearby, some are too shallow but look around. Some offer a good opportunity. IF you can find one that has access from the shore or nearby then you're good to go. I've never asked because I doubt anybody has even noticed lol
