  1. Different paints wear differently and MB is no exception. Not to worry though, it's the action that catches he fish
  2. When I just can't hook up and every strike seems short, I downsize. Lunk3rhunt lunker frogs work great in the 1/4" size. I have one that lost its legs so I added skirt legs and upsized the frog hook- I almost never miss a fish on that frog but don't use it that much because I don't want to lose it or catch dinks all day. It's kind of a secret weapon lol It's easier for them to completely inhale and then the bigger hooks are pretty much blast-o-matic.
  3. I rage rig the Lobsters and they are awesome. For a big bait they sure do draw strikes! I t-rig the shell crackers, structure bugs and rage craws.
  4. Dude I KNOW somebody bought me those and I still have them somewhere. I've thrown them a few times but they never got hit like a frog or mouse. Maybe try again in Florida?
  5. Smaller baits = more fish. Out of those fish the big'un number will still come up on the dice though for sure. Lately finesse has been winning out bigtime for me. It's an ebb and flow but they are on a baitfish pattern right now in a big way.
  6. finesse t-rig or tiny jigs like the Ned.
  7. Thanks! Wish I could wave my magic wand and make the 852 an 853 but hey... First world problems, y'know?
  8. My 4 horsemen now that the spinning rig is up and running *** Black 7'3" HXF & BB1 Pro w/55# FX2 Dobyns 705cb glass & Curado I w/12# Tatsu NRX 852c & Ito Ai w/15# Smackdown *** Black 7'1" MLXF & Supreme XT w/8# Yo-Zuri Hybrid Stoked to head out tomorrow.
  9. Wow this *** is sick. Color me stoked to call out of work tomorrow and fish it all day!
  10. I'd still rather have a Bettencourt Rodent though. Just sayin'.
  11. Any advantage you don't have is unfair when you're a sore loser though.
  12. The one that's in your hands. Just throw it out there and do something with it. Fishing senkos is like eating Reese's- there just isn't a wrong way.
  13. I will sell you the magic pixie dust that always makes the motor start for the low price of $999.99. It's invisible and lasts forever, so don't be shocked when the dust shaker looks empty. Just shake it over the motor and it starts every time* *results not typical or guaranteed. Made with bits of real panther.
  14. Guys. The rig is a concept, not a definition. Using the principles that make the Ned work, you can adapt it as Blue has shown above or in many MANY ways to fit your situation. I love experimenting out on the water!
  15. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand I hate people.
  16. I would do the following: Take a black plastic 55gallon drum and use a 2" hole saw to punch a bunch of 2" holes in it all over the top half. Now take a bunch of sections of 2" PVC and stick them through the holes and out both sides like branches of a tree. Might want to throw a screw into each one so it stays put. Now use a smaller drill and blast tons and tons of small holes in the 2" PVC to give room for fry and baitfish to move in and out of the 2" PVC (actually this may be easier to do first). Now use a jigsaw to cut some big 12"-18"ish holes lower down on the side of the barrel and in the top to allow places for big fish to move in & out (and panfish to move around the tangle of tubes up top). Now fill the bottom 12" or so of the barrel with cement, allow to dry and sink it in your favorite place. It will support literally any size fish from fry to lunker and last forever. Please forgive the crude visual aid that lacks detail but perhaps it will help to see what I'm talking about.
  17. The fact that there's a lie detector involved should be a red flag to you. I wouldn't enter one that put my fate in the hands of a Ouija board either fwiw.
  18. Well yes. Technically it's a little thicker for it's advertised diameter but it also breaks at ~40% above that number too. If you're truly worried about it, definitely feel free to size down accordingly. It will sill work.
  19. Wow yeah none of that here as far as I know but I will keep you posted when I go to handle all that. He obtained the boat from a storage auction and it came with 0 paperwork aside from the existing numbers and tags.
  20. Yes, although it is very lax. I've been told you can simply bring in a Bill of Sale and request a title. For cars it's a big deal in this state but for boats it's more or less just checking in. Also that cost does not include any labor or charge for custom fabrication, design etc obviously, which if I was selling them it would have to.
  21. Let's see, I will add it up... Boat & Trailer: $400 (actually $300 since my late brother's fiancee wouldn't accept the final $100) All Paints & Supplies: $65 Aluminum stock: $60 Carpet and glue: $30 Expanding foam: $40 Seating (3 stools): $100 (two normal and one w drawers) Trolling motor: $100 Battery: $75 Wiring and conduit: $20 Hardware & hinges: $20 Plywood and sealer $40 Total: $850 all said and done. Not bad for how she sits now, I must say! I also have a whole bunch of materials left over so that's cool. I have enough carpet to just about do a whole other boat, almost enough paint for a whole other boat and trailer as well as some aluminum stock still left. There are definitely ways I could have- and will- save money next time. Rookie mistakes might cost a bit more, but at least no corners were cut and I'm very happy with the end result. Honestly thinking about starting to do this type of thing for extra cash on the side. Picking up a boat/trailer off CL and refurbing it is actually pretty fun and it would be a great way to pay for my hobby if not more.
  22. Oh well... That's what I get. Just picked up a 7'1" 13 MLXF *** Black spinning rod to put my Supreme XT to use that's been collecting dust. It's going to be my tiny jig, teensy weensy t-rig and drop shot rod. Can't wait to get that thing spooled up. Gotta love that $5 two-day shipping!
  23. Haha no this is an exercise in restraint and basic boating safety for the kids as well as making something nice for myself. A 9.9 would likely cost as much as the whole boat and trailer unfortunately.
  24. Aaaaah summer... When the Ned Rig threads blossom into frogs you know the spawn is over
  25. Actually mad that I didn't realize TW was having a 15% off Memorial Day sale. I would have a new rod in my hand right now if I did. SONOFA!!!!!!!!!
