  1. I better not tell you guys what the Deps and Evergreen frogs go for. Your heads would blow right off haha
  2. I use the Plano 3600 soft sider bag because it's the biggest bag that will fit in my kayak. I love it and it has served me well over the years.
  3. Crucial if it's single hook applications and you're getting the XF. Zodias if it's for anything else, or a variety of techniques on one rod.
  4. I can't even express in words how much I agree. When I can hear nothing but the bluegills kissing the surface, or the lily flowers opening as the sun hits them first thing... I'm reminded that the crazy portage I just made through the woods, that thicket of cattails and the 100 yards of pads before dawn was completely worth it. Of course it helps when I can track down a few monster fish as well but that's just a bonus to me. Being surrounded by nothing but trees and raw nature is a treat in and of itself- how it really should be IMO. I've got a few spots like that and a few of them see other kayak traffic but more of hobby anglers than anything and they come and go- but I've also got a few honey holes that take an hour to drive to and another hour to actually get into and I've never seen another soul at- Worth every bug bite, briar scratch and sweat bead. The farther off the beaten track the better! I like a big lake too, but I always feel like I'm just trying to keep up with the Joneses when I do. I still have fun on big boats of course but it's kind of missing something to me. All of the nothing, actually. I love me some nothing.
  5. Nothing quite as rewarding as saving a life. Nice work! Now you have another excuse to go fishing though- "Honey, I've got to go make sure everybody is ok down at the res!" Once you really see how quickly things can go south and how serious things can get from one small thing happening it really makes you consider the full scope of every little action. I am a volunteer ski patroller and I can't even tell you how many times the smallest thing led to a massive and very serious accident. it seems as though every story begins with "I was just skiing along and all of a sudden..."
  6. Memory foam flip flops. I gotta let my dogs breathe or things get out of hand quick. I'm a sweaty person and it's pretty gross- I weld all day too so when I get out of the shop I just want to vent.
  7. I hear that! If you ever venture North to the great state of Vermont be sure to get ahold of me! I run the volunteer operations groups that maintain all the tree skiing up at Magic Mountain as well as doing all their snowmaking pipeline and chairlift repair welding. I'd be happy to hook it up with some free vouchers or at least a nice discount.
  8. OOOPS! Sorry man, didn't mean to kick over your white bucket!
  9. favorite: Frogs least favorite: C-rig.
  10. The concept is not new but I have been disappointed with fish-style frogs in the past. Really hoping these deliver!!!
  11. I'm not a gigantic fan of their hard baits but their hollow frogs are great! The detail and function of them is first rate IMO. These are going to be awesome and a huge part of the heavy cover game if you're a frog fanatic like I am. Also the fact that they've gone trokar makes me feel like they didn't cut any corners and are putting their absolute best foot forward on this project. I will likely clear a row in my frog box and get a half dozen or so. This is just too perfect. I've been waiting for this for a while and other options like the Picasso shad walker simply were poorly executed. My only wish is that they went single center hook instead of double frog hooks (not really possible because of the tail though).
  12. Check out the Bettencourts. They are awesome handmade baits and not very expensive at all. Just make sure you let the fur dry or it'll rust the hooks up. If I didn't like the Betty so much I'd definitely be picking up a mini slammer though!
  13. Someday I will show you guys how terrible and merciless the ski monkey is. It's just the other side of the season coin for me. The cycle never stops.
  14. Fair enough on the diameter, but I would bet you the farm It's not the micros. If it pulled out just tugging a topwater along, it's time to admit there was a problem with the knot. If it was a good knot that would NEVER happen. EVER. I'd just use something you have 100% confidence in like you said. I want to make the FG knot work SO BAD but I just don't have confidence in my ability to tie it on the fly just yet so I won't use it on the water.
  15. Ooooooooooh cool I wish we had that in Mass!
  16. Well if you have a 10# braid mainline that's a TINY diameter line. Using a higher breaking strength line AND much larger diameter as a leader is counterproductive. Usually it's the other way around and you'd use 20-30# braid (or at least a higher breaking strength mainline so when you break off it's only the leader that goes) and a lighter leader material. See what I mean? It's backwards. It may hold but it's not going to help you with calculated break offs. If you're going to use 10# braid I'd use an 8# or 6# leader. The only time you would really stray from that is if you're going for northerns or muskies and want a 100# flouro leader for the tooth factor.
  17. I love the logic. Not sure? Bah, I'll take two. Life is too short to mess around.
  18. "I know you believe you understand what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant." - Alan Greenspan Man I love that quote.
  19. That's kind of a reach, man. As someone with a marketing background, that's not only fair game but par for the course when your major competitor has a punny name instead of something proprietary.
  20. Please excuse my ignorance, but to what does the term "citation" refer? I clicked this thinking he got a speeding ticket towing his boat or something.
  21. For the money I'd say Koppers field mouse. Suuuuper whippy walk as they are longer and more slender. Their regular frogs aren't far behind though. Nice detail, great action and good hookups.
  22. Wait wait wait... 10# braid to 15# flouro?? I think I found your problem lol
  23. You won't be disappointed. Very well thought out bait. Love how they use the magnets!
  24. It's a bit rich for my blood but I will never stop wanting a 4x8 DC.
