  1. These scam artists make my blood boil- commercial packages are the biggest racket going and it makes me so angry I can hardly articulate myself. Oh, we paid in full for last year and although there were no claims (ever in fact- over 30 years in business) and no changes in coverage you've decided that we owe you another $2k for two months worth of coverage- when they didn't pay out a dime??? Honestly, what other industry can pull this crap? I don't get it. I really don't. They are straight up strong-arming small businesses in a way that makes no sense and is completely unsustainable. We pay out the nose for literally nothing and then when they up and feel like they didn't make enough money on the nothing they gave us LAST YEAR they hand us another bill that's whatever size they deem necessary- NECESSARY FOR WHAT??? I would love it if someone was an insurance person who could explain this magical process to me. This has NOTHING to do with medical coverage or Obamacare etc. before anybody tries to take it there- I'm just wondering what mentality can justify the fleecing of businesses in such a manner. They money is gone and this was a year ago- no claims were made and no policy changes were made. What gives???
  2. Going deep on a hot day. I can do it no problem when it's nice out but once it gets really hot my patience wears thin much faster.
  3. When I first read that I was thinking "Maybe it's a PTSD thing, etc- a mental disability" but man, if he was claiming it was a physical disability he's definitely just jumped up a few hundred ticks on the dbag scale.
  4. I have a whole pile and honestly, I rotate the colors. There doesn't seem to be much correlation aside from how I feel that day. It's more of a "what type of action" question for me more often than not. I usually go for lighter colors though, as I usually just want it to stand out from the cover it's in. Sparkly whites and chartreuses have been my go-to colors lately... I used to love natural colors and still do, but most of the time it's just something they can easily see while I'm working it.
  5. I definitely do. Jawbreakers are my go-to. Not too many baits you can steady retrieve through heavy cover spaces like them and they get hit. You've got to love their indestructible nature too. Definitely throw them on braid though.
  6. I lost the first swimbait I ever threw because of this like two years ago. Braid just doesn't have the shock strength if you hit a wind knot or something. OP 25# copolymer is a pretty all-around safe bet.
  7. I just picked up a pair of the 1/2oz pearl belly naked rage blades a week or so ago and while I haven't caught anything with them yet I really like the action. It feels like a win, I just need the scoreboard to agree with me before I start getting too excited I guess. They vibe HARD.
  8. I have a question- how does the waxy coating do with double palomars? It's all I'd use on fused line like that and the waxy coating on 832 really turns me off, as it is really grabby when tying knots ilke the DP- also I don't like how it wears off and then the line is completely different either. Looking forward to seeing how this line works out longer-term, especially concerning that coating.
  9. I've had even worse happen but I don't even want to get into it. People are selfish, inconsiderate and ignorant to a point where you have to wonder if it's malicious intent or just Olympic-level extreme ignorance. I don't even care which, but I have been practicing a look/stare that will drill a hole through their hull- haven't gotten it down pat just yet but I feel like I'm almost there. I'll let you know when I master it.
  10. Too bad there isn't a comedy forum haha wow... Just wow. I feel so bad for the random that finds this and actually takes the "information" to heart.
  11. The bait monkey hath spoken... In German no less!
  12. The closest I've come to rolling was standing up and peeing out of my yak- and I have a POS future beach 10'er sit-in... Still managed to save it, but I definitely got pee all over the place haha
  13. I'm up here in MA, and I fish course ponds all the time- one of them is a top kayak fishing honey hole. As long as it fits your criteria, is deep enough to hold fish over a long winter and you can get to it without being arrested, do it up. Most of the people aware of these places ignore them because they are there to golf and most fishermen don't really golf and so they aren't aware of them at all.
  14. Either use the heat shrink tube stuff or just get some Zinkerz. I can't stand senkos. They blow up when you call 'em bad names.
  15. If I had to pick one of each out of the arsenal... Spinning: 7'1" MLXF *** Black w/ Pflueger Supreme XT. Casting: 7'3" HXF *** Black w/ BB1 Pro (blows me away how versatile this combo really is) But let's be honest I could never go out on the boat without my NRX 852c & Ito Ai. I'd leave the spinner combo home waaaaay before I'd leave this bad Larry behind.
  16. Yes this is absolutely true- to each his own and what is "right" for one person can easily be "wrong" for another. I was simply relating my personal struggles in finding my perfect frog rod. I really had trouble with rods that were too broomsticky but many guys like them that way as it is easier to flip the fish on top of the cover. Some MHs feel stiffer through the tip than other H rods, and it really is a personal preference in any case. I run a HXF rod but in many ways it behaves better for me than my previously owned MHF blanks when on paper it shouldn't have been that way according to my tastes.
  17. The Chinese know no standard that isn't imposed on them by outside forces. You can get good stuff made in China but only if QC is mandated and you hold their feet to the flames constantly. It always blows me away the massive disparity in perception and normality from China to Japan. Geographically they are very close but philosophically they might as well be on separate planets.
  18. Shape like that forces wiggle. I guarantee you can walk the dog under the surface too. Just because it doesn't work the way you envisioned doesn't mean it doesn't work
  19. OP just wanted to say that flat out power and stiffness in a rod is far from ideal. With frogs you really want a softer tip and a progressive backbone. Most frogs weigh around a half ounce or 3/4 at the most. An ex heavy is not going to load the tip very well and casting distance will suffer. Also it will be much harder to "walk the dog" and you may find that fish don't stay pinned quite the same once you set the hook. Unless you are in the heaviest of cover situations or expecting DD monsters, I'd stick with a heavy powered rod (I ise a Heavy extra fast *** and love it) or like the 735 Dobyns which is a MH but has a very versatile progressive flex to it and lots of people swear by it.
  20. It definitely made me think. I think China is a cancer.
  21. They just have that helpless floppy wiggle that looks oh-so-bottom-of-the-food-chain along with a certain plumpness... I can see why they work, but I'm not a fan unless I'm wacky rigging them- and even then I will only use Z man, because senkos are garbage and have the approximate durability of cheap grape jelly.
  22. If this deal goes through, I am totally buying myself a Feelfree Lure 11.5 to celebrate that first bonus paycheck.
  23. Well I'd really have to ask how "into it" are you trying to get? If you want to run them on your frog or general heavy rod setup, you can probably go up to 2oz without an issue since there is little to no resistance on the retrieve. I have several of both and use them on my frog rod as I don't want to have to run a swimbait setup. My favorites within this category are as follows: Glides Deps Slide swimmer 115 Gan Craft S Song 115 Megabass iSlide 135 Gan Craft Kai 148 As for swimbaits Huddleston Bluegill Huddleston weedless grass minnows and 4" shads for really small presentations Huddleston 6" deluxe (tophook) Decoy Hydra 5" (tophook) *this is inexpensive and around 1oz if you want to just try it out without being overwhelmed by big baits and big pricetags) That ought to get you started anyways. The hard glides are a bit more expensive but they also last forever and you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to them. If you're looking to go full setup, I won't be of much help to you unfortunately since I am sticking with the little guys for now but there are many here who are full on swimbait psychos and would be happy to help enable you I'm sure
