  1. Actually yes. Below the thermocline it can get super clear despite there being less light. Unless your water has high suspended sediment levels or is just super muddy it will be much clearer below about 20'.
  2. Aaaaahahahahahaha I love that stuff. I hope it comes with "supercharged" stickers!
  3. Yup that's how it happens! I loved the the visual of you packing up and leaving and halfway to the car being like "just ONE MORE" and then fishing for 5 mins. That tells the whole story
  4. Just wait until he starts reading product descriptions. "Ooooh! This one is scientifically made to catch more fish!" lol I just grabbed two more LC blade cross baits in 110, a 3/4oz bottom dweller spinnerbait and some Keitech mono guard heads in 1/8oz & 1/0 hook. Man I love those blade cross baits btw. Anybody else throwing them? They have seriously taken over completely in terms of top of the water column spinnerbait-style approach. The 110 jerkbait-esque profile really seems to add to the "burn it on top and let the profile/flash draw a reaction strike" approach. The consistency with which I can catch them with the LCBC has seriously impressed me lately. The sticky trebles seem to really improve the hookup percentage, as those missed strikes on a normal spinnerbait's single hook tend to be caught by a treble or two. Might have to use a whole pack of suspendstrips and see if I can make one a good bottom burner.
  5. Haven't handled the Levante but I can tell you the XX blew my expectations right out of the water. With used examples being relatively very affordable, I'd personally hold out until I found an desirable variation of XX in my price range. The trigger on the levante handle seems like it could be far more hit-or-miss, and the XX is about as comfy as they come.
  6. I just use a wide-brimmed hat so my glasses and face don't get hosed. When it's raining you're pretty much gonna get wet one way or another.
  7. Yeah no thanks. Spending a ton of money just so I can kill myself being over the top for no reason at all doesn't sound like a sound course of action.
  8. Yeah that discriptor has stuck with me over the years. People are so entitled nowadays it's like YOU'RE the one with the problem should you say something to them about their poor behavior. They just can't be bothered to learn the respectful and safe way to share the water, they're just too darn special!
  9. I did the same thing like a week or so ago. I actually almost touched the fish, I was right above it and clearing weeds when she broke off. I'm still upset.
  10. I've been a custom metal fabrication guy all my life. A garage with actual shop space like that is a huge life goal for me. Wicked stoked for you!!
  11. I do use it for deeper braid usage but the big magnum sized industrial marker I cut a slice into the middle for it STINKS. Made me stop and think. Can't hurt to ask.
  12. Dude! Congrats!! That garage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. Smackdown is the difference. You can get away with 30# Smack as it is the same diameter as other braids' 15 or 20 so you are on the same exact page fwiw.
  14. Smelly markers usually mean petroleum based solvents. Braids are essentially plastic fibers woven together. Bueno? No bueno?
  15. Considering I've put a jointed crank on a c-rig, you're good to go. I'd probably lean noisy flapper tho
  16. Yeah man but be sure to use the whole bottle. Just pour it right into the lake, that hydrilla will be glowing like it's in the Chernobyl cooling pond and a bunch of spaced-out bass will show up looking for a party in a few minutes.
  17. I've always kind of wanted to try that Toray Bawo braid because it's got the increment markings on it, but I always wondered if you'd only be able to see them for a week or what... No braid can hold color forever.
  18. Always ask in private. The last thing the mods want or need is more peoples' 2 cents being added in if you just want to get brought up to speed.
  19. That's strange. I've been using smackdown for several seasons now and I've never had a problem with bleeding like that. I mean yeah, it fades and if you ran it through your fingers there's a little green left behind but I've never seen anything like that in my usage.
  20. I heard that happens from sniffing it too much Methyl Ethyl Keytone It would take the orange off Donald Trump. Crazy stuff!
  21. Ah! I said Jim's flies but I meant Joe's Flies. If you aren't aware of them, they're REALLY nice inlines with cool fly-style feathering. I have a whole bunch in my pocket river kit and they are great. Just an example:
  22. I love the snagless sallies. Awesome bait for me because I can hit just about any depth with it. Big fields of submerged hydrilla etc. you can burn it over the top and not worry about the weeds. You can also slow roll it along the bottom pretty effectively with the right trailer, and they have lasted a long time. I don't think I've ever lost one. The big rooster tails and meps are classic baits for a reason. They just catch fish across all species. Also the larger of the Jim's Flies spinners are sweet too. Very sticky hooks and lots of nice colors.
  23. Idiots are deadly. Its a huge part of why I do my absolute best to avoid big boat lakes as fun as they can be... People simply either don't care or don't know and I hate HATE subjecting myself to the casual ignorance of entitled abusers. It only takes one.
  24. Fish grips- full size or jr? What say you??
  25. WOW. That's actually cheaper than dirt. Literally!
