  1. I punch watershield...aka small tightly packed lily. Can't swim anything through it. It's punch or walk on top.
  2. I don't know how I did without them.
  3. You gonna drop that line and sinker over every square foot?
  4. I've truly found color not to mean much. I still consider it though. Just put in a tw order...Some chartreuse, some shad like, some browns, some bluegill. Basic rule of thumb...If sunny use naturals like flashy ones or clear ones. Darker skies or water calls for solid colors be it dark browns or even whites and firetiger.
  5. I use the redear...only because it was only one available. I like it though. I want the crappie color now.
  6. Hell yea...I need some chunks.
  7. Depends on the lake. Cooler water can hold more oxygen...but shaded shallows can be churned up by wind and waves increasing o2 levels. The shade also drops the temp.
  8. This x2. I had invizx on one of my reels and straight swapped for sniper at same #. Sniper had less stretch, more sensitivity, more supple, and more abrasion resistance. I've had frays in my invizx I could snap with an easy tug. With sniper similar frays were much more difficult to snap. I haven't tried fx2 or sx1, braid as I want to try seaguar smackdown, but I'm really leaning Sunline lately.
  9. I'm not worried about breaking any of my rods in tall grass... The gimmick is how they won't break. That says nothing of their fishing qualities. They market you a fishing item by how durable they are...not about how innovative or useful they are in the actual task they were built for. Like buying a fridge with dent resistant technology but can't keep food cold... Ugly sticks being around decades has nothing to do with it. Gimmicks divert or attraction attention. That's exactly what is going on. If you want to spend your money on mass produced noodles then more power to you.
  10. I had my first success cranking down to roughly ten feet and want to get into it more. Would this depth range be considered moderate or deep cranking? The point is what rod power should I look for? My medium action and 6to1 reel was wearing me out and was wondering if I should look into a medium heavy? I was using 16# FC Sunline sniper with strike king series 5 (10-13 running depth) that only hit bottom with looong cast and rod touching water. Should I stick to cranks that run at those depths or drop my FC line size to 12 or 14?
  11. Had a 7 or 8 shake off at boat. It was a stud. I haven't shaken like that in years
  12. Marketing gimmick. Look, I can run it over and bend it but it won't break! Sounds just like an infomercial. None of that means jack when it comes to fishing. There are good rods in the entry market, just learn to take care of your own property and not smash tailgates on your rods.
  13. We went to Jacksonville. Slow today but we got hooked into some absolute pigs though. One guy was nearly on plane and caused us and some kayakers issues in the no wake zone but other than that it was great.
  14. As for the G2 shellcracker...I use heavy fluoro and I experiment with waking it very slowly on top and cranking it down and putting rod tip in water and smacking into brush and logs. It won't get hung up. The twitching retrieves doesn't work that we'll with g2 imo...I suggest you keep it moving.
  15. I'll be going there Saturday for first time, with my dad in his bass raider and wanted to know if anyone knows of any good coves for this small craft that would have minimal pleasure boaters/pressure. Want to make sure my dad's first trip here is as positive as possible. Thanks for any help.
  16. Trim at an angle at barb. Never had hookup issues trimming (there is a sex reference in there I'm sure of it)
  17. Only time trailer won't match jig is if I'm out of matching colors or not getting bit.
  18. If it doesn't hurt why not use plastic?
  19. Let me throw this out there. Is it fair to keep people who are not capable of paddling, out of tournaments when there is the mirage drive? I'm young adult but have a bad shoulder and paddling kills me and I'm very fit. I will not buy a kayak unless I get a TM or a hobie.
  20. Oakley offshoot. Designed for big heads and blocking out sun. Polarized are 190 but I got mine as a gift and love them. Nothing worse than a headache from small sunglasses pinching your skull but having to keep them on to fish properly.
  21. The 7'3" really Intrigues me for punching. 7'11" won't fit in my truck.
  22. Music keeps my confidence up
  23. I love my g2 shellcracker
  24. Other than a few inches and 10 more bucks...what's difference between 7'3" h and mat daddy?
