Got a couple questions as nowhere around here has any of the rods I'm looking at.
One rod I'm looking at doesn't have an exposed blank at reel seat but instead a tacky rubber cork. Does it make a difference when cranking? I imagine exposed is better for jigs trigs etc. Full reel seat grip and comfortable grip might be nice for cranking all day.
Another rod has an extra guide...does it make a difference really?
Another is glass...will it really have more give than a quality moderate/moderate fast graphite? Is the difference in weight actually noticeable?
I've really gotten into cranking this year and now I want a medium heavy ~7 foot rod. Problem is there are so many! Budget is max 150.
Was looking at okuma tcs, Powell max (lightweight), Fenwick but I fear it's all cork no blank, and new tatula cranking. Any thoughts or suggestions?
I will if I'm pitching wood. Braid digs in and fluoro seems to hang on branches less. It also allows the lure to fall better and transmits much more on slack line than braid. I use Albright knot.
At the beach and went to a tackle shop and saw a large assortment of spro hair jigs. Are these similar to the ones at the chic'? If I get one, what weight and how do you work them?
I peg when punching. Otherwise the stopper is roughly 3 inches up. Having that dead space can help you see saw over branches and allow the plastic to fall a little more naturally.
I like revenge swimjigs. Lots of color options, solid hook, and realistic head. As for trailer...I've used swim senkos but they are very expensive so I've looked into other options. Rage tail shellcracker is too bulky imo but I've liked the missile shockwave...problem is that it has a belly slit so you can't shorten it much to make it look smaller.
Xtra fast equates lesser accuracy. Spinnerbaits are typically used when casting at targets. Jigs can be but are often pitched.
Xtra fast for jigs helps you transition quickly into the back bone of the rod allowing you to horse a bass out of cover. That isn't always necessary for spinnerbaits as you usually have the spinnerbait on the edges of docks and brush....not deep inside it.
I like em. I catch bigger than average with them on.
The trig punch setup shouldn't be sitting on bottom either. The key to the skirt is when you jig it up and down it adds flare and size to the plastic. A jig sits upright and the skirt flares out at rest.
I have the black omni freeze long sleeve zip up neck.
Love it.
Was in upper 80s with no wind a couple weeks ago. I was nice and cool. If I got warm I unzipped. At one point a small storm cell passed and I zipped up and stayed warm.
As has been stated, cotton holds water...which is why you don't wear it in winter unless your goal is hypothermia! Also white cotton doesn't protect you completely from the sun, especially if it gets wet or sweaty.
