  1. Just use flouro with your usual poppers...it'll dive under water.
  2. I'm looking into getting a couple hudd 68 weedless and I need help choosing a color. A couple of the lakes I fish have perch, one has trout, one has large gizzard. I usually don't ask about lure colors, but it seems to me that matching the hatch is more important with large swimbaits than other techniques. Would perch do an adequate job of bream imitation or even carp/small pike? Think I would have more success throwing that than gizzard color in a lake without shad? People say they use trout in lakes w/o and still catch bass.
  3. I carry spro almost exclusively. Just looking at em I can tell their depth.
  4. Buy suspend dots
  5. The ponds around here that get stocked with trout are a hot bed for low functioning humans in the spring. People think I'm a moron because I'm not sitting on the dam with a catfish pole and red braid trying to catch stocked trout. Some even then I'm musky fishing and tell me I need to kill every one I catch cuz they be eat in the trout and the musky ain't natural here (despite it being a man made pond and the trout being the least natural fish in it.)
  6. I'll give you 50 for it! If they had a bunch of em I'd have wrapped my arm around em and bought 200 worth and sold em on ebay.
  7. I've used 7to1 tatula with shellcracker without issue. Yeah I had to slow down but I don't think 3 or 4 more ipt would make it much different. Just can't justify a dedicated setup for such an expensive technique
  8. I'm planning on getting a heavy daiwa frog rod rated up to 2 oz for throwing g2 shellcracker, hudd 6" and punching light mats. I'm stuck trying to decide if I can get an 8:1 ratio and making it work with swimbaits or get a low ratio for swimbaits. If I split the difference with a 6 or 7:1 I'd not do either really well. Does anyone swimbait with higher ratios? Certainly they would help pick up slack from bass hitting swimbait from behind and pick up slack for a good hookset.
  9. It's worth 40. I lost my 7' MH and would like a new one but tw only has rods I don't need.
  10. Pretty good rod. A little thick and heavy. Caught some good fish on em. Xfast is more of a fast action though.
  11. 3 lobina rico blems from tw. Missed out last year! Those suckers fly off the tw shelves.
  12. I put to on high and beat a boat to a small point of a small cove. The boat was still 200+ yards away...I caught a bass. Fair or foul?
  13. If I had the money I'd display it on a shelf But right now I wouldn't bother buying a reel I was afraid to use. Last thing I need to worry about while fishing is the d**n finish on my reel....
  14. If you were stuck on Mars and only could pick one...what boat shoes would you pick?
  15. Run a Palomar and snelled hook across your finger and tell me which one catches your skin easier. I know the answer from experience....
  16. People carry guns on their boat. ..my dad included. A thread about docks not long ago mentioned a dock owner killing a boater. If you want to throw objects at people don't be surprised if it returns in spades.
  17. Bag...Although I hate it. Abu garcia veritas bag. 4 3700s. Wears on your shoulders after a while. It can also throw your balance off. Nice for taking onto bass boat though. Want a backpack but they are expensive...the backpack I own is too worn out to use.
  18. Daiwa has a rod over multiple models that is rated for 1/2oz to 2 oz with fast taper and typically heavy power usually 7'4". I'm looking at old model zillion that is X heavy but essentially same rod. Question is, for those who have the frog rods...how do you like them? My current punch rod is a h 13 *** xf and it feels underpowered and too fast for punching. I also want a rod I can toss small hard swimbait like shellcracker g2. The fast taper seems more forgiving for trebles. I've been throwing the g2 on my h *** and while it is rated for 1.5oz lures it really is topped out and I find it difficult to cast.
  19. Smackdown Quiet, small diameter and doesn't bleed
  20. Before opening the thread I thought 12"
  21. Any updates?
  22. 6'6" medium power fast action. Like the length for walking the dog and popping slack without slapping the water. Moderate action would be too wimpy when trying to work the slack.
  23. Grainger supply company has 10 foot fiberglass poles that are 3/4 and are exact same as digin and stick it poles but with a sharp tip. I can either shave it into a tip and drill a screw into the end. It's like 34 dollars though. Then find something to bolt onto boat that will hold it like the bracket of a humminbird fishin buddy. The bmx grip is a good idea though.
  24. I've already got a reel lined up on ebay (and no rod!) A brand new zillion is tempting though
