With the 'invent' of heavy duty reels, do you all see the need for them? Does the larger handle and sturdier gears really make a difference when swim baiting and punching mats? Or are these just a way for companies to sell more reels?
I catch em on any color they have. Just gotta pick out the one for the conditions and smash it near some bass.
I personally prefer the translucent ones.
Looking for a daiwa reel that can pull double duty for small swimbaits and punching in the 6to1 ratio. The aird coastal has a deeper spool and 100mm handle and good drag. However it's composite and I'm afraid of flex that I've experienced before with a lews. Tatula hd is a bit too expensive and lexa 300 is rather large for my taste. Any suggestions?
Just got mine in the mail today. Haven't tested it much. Has unsanded blank. It's a broomstick but incredibly light at 4.8 oz. My 7'3" heavy *** *** is 5.3 ounces! The *** has a significantly smaller diameter blank though. Has a legitimate fast action. Very minimalistic. Will put a 3 oz weight on tomorrow and see how she handles it.
Well I've got the rod...but still have the dilemma of which ratio.
This rod is good for punching and swimbaits, would a 6to1 ratio work for 6 inch swimbaits and punching? 7 to 1 seems too fast.
Got a tatula spinning rod for xmas and noticed above the reel seat, two holes beside each other. Do they serve any purpose? Is it just for weight reduction?
This reel would be perfect for all the punching and pitching I do. Makes a big difference. I would, without a doubt, lose more fish with a 5 to 1 fishing those techniques.
Got back my seibert jig a couple months ago that I lost after ice out. Still in good shape...may still be able to salvage the hook but it had some rust.
