  1. I use chunk on small jigs or when I want a compact jig profile (most of the time). Regular craw when I want larger jig. Biting off an inch from rage craw just doesn't have the same benefits of the chunk on a jig. First it is thinner than chunk so it loses bulk and 2nd the chunk skips better due to being more flat. Rage bug is good jig trailer as it's extremely bulky and will parachute your jig. It's also good trigged. Space monkey is similar to rage bug except it has claws instead of flappers. Gives a better swimming action but I don't use it much.
  2. Apparently I lost one of the knob caps on my tatula. Does anyone know where I can get one or will I need to order from daiwa?
  3. Saying "you can handle yourself" is all good until the time you can't. That's what a lot of drunk drivers/boaters have said before their arrest or wreck.
  4. Lock your arms and rotate your hips. No upward movement as there are no hooks on top (unless it's a backstabber). If you feel the need you can twist your hips a 2nd time a few cranks into fight to make sure your hooks are solid but you can also pull the hooks out if the bass didn't get the crank good.
  5. I go spro But evolve nervous walker was very soft and had good walk. It's discontinued now though. I have a pony gabot but haven't hooked up yet and a river2sea popper I haven't used. Spro king daddy works too, you'd be surprised at the small bass trying to choke it.
  6. FYI I know an fbi polygrapher with decades of experience. In the right hands they are extremely accurate and I've seen it first hand.
  7. Can't wait!
  8. As other have said, patience is key! Feel the fish before setting hook. They will hold onto it for a while so don't be afraid. This is really important skill to learn for any technique like crankbaits, poppers, even soft plastics. Many people yank the lures out before the fish have them. Ever watch the pros jig or worm fish? Half the time they tell when they have a bite then they set their feet get a good grip reel in slack then set hook. No rush about it. But I digress, if you miss one then throw a senko in after it, it's highly effective.
  9. I avoid buzzbait. Bass don't always want to hit topwater but d**n is it exciting at night. You can miss strikes too. Vibrating jigs, Colorado blade spinnerbaits and swimjigs with flapping trailers are my top producers. Poppers are also excellent.
  10. Mustad straight shank denny brauer.
  11. How did I miss this? He played that perfect on 12lb line. Couldn't imagine being in GA knowing you'll never catch a state record.
  12. Powerpro, sunline fx2 and smackdown. Prefer smackdown as it's smooth and quiet. Expensive though but braid lasts forever. Wish sunline would make a smooth 8 carrier braid.
  13. Is this just some sneaky form of advertising or BASS attempt at creating a message board/fishing community?
  14. Does length of hammer pound the nail or does your swing?
  15. Anyone have one of the 1/4oz revenge deep runner spinnerbaits? I have war eagle finesse spinnerbaits now but want to transition to revenge and would like to know if they have similar profiles.
  16. The 40 mercury will get to about 30 or 35 mph. Good for beginners and small lakes. We do get on plane
  17. 12 pound sunline reaction for all cranks. I gave it a bad review before but it is growing on me.
  18. Aerated and does have trim
  19. I see they moved to pursuit but I haven't seen any 2015 tournaments on TV and they only show 30 minute segments of 2014 tournaments which are supposed to be an hour! Anyone know what's going on?
  20. Dad has a 94 with a 40. Engine isn't the best and most of the dials don't work. However it still floats and gets use out on the bigger waters. Rod box is very short and won't fit rods longer than 6'10"ish. Dad has a bass raider too and it's a huge upgrade.
  21. They don't increase casting distance. They make the spool spin faster and quicker to get to that speed. Allows you to cast with less effort as well as pitch lighter lures. If you upgrade, please don't go out and see how far you can throw your lure because you'll end up with a nasty backlash!
  22. Lunker city appear to have nice ones. Haven't used them though as I have enough hooks at the moment.
  23. I fish braid with cranks all the time and I don't bend out hooks. Braid is not the determining factor. If I used my punching hookset with those crankbaits with braid then yeah I'd bend them out! But it appears the hooks themselves are the issue here.
  24. Another point. I also keep the stopper on so I can adjust for my cover rather than have another rod rigged up. Slide down for heavy cover, and slide up for more open water.
