  1. I went with bone,thanks yall.
  2. What are some general go to colors for poppers? I've got 3 ricos. 2 in silvery metallic patterns (bluegill and shad) and one in translucent green and black triangles (baby bass) What should be next? A clear popper? Opaque popper (bone or black?). A more realistic bluegill pattern?
  3. It's a pretty good feeder creek but in the summer it is barely a trickle. Fishing pressure is high too but mostly on one side from bank anglers who complain about all the damned snags. By mid august nobody fishes it.
  4. I saw a couple kokakat for around 500 with relief zipper. Certainly in my shortlist. It may may be something I wait for next year or ask for xmas. I may buy a couple space blankets and change of clothes in my dry storage in the meantime.
  5. I'm looking into getting a drysuit for fishing this winter from my kayak. The mild winter we had last year had me fishing into January and I'd like to go out on the water this time around. I've heard risk of hypothermia increases significantly when water and air temp do not reach a combined 120 which is not far off and I plan to be on water in October. Anyone know of a cheap useful fishing drysuit? I'd like to stay under 500 and much lower if possible.
  6. Heavy if you pitch into thick bushes and will likely have to pull a bass over and through branches.
  7. There are some pros who swear by 4lb! That's pushing it for me...but I fish a lot of timber.
  8. More likely the effect the line has on lure action than visibility
  9. You don't need a fancy rod for frogs. Team daiwa s has a 7'4" rod that is lightweight that I like for frogs and punching and is roughly 100.
  10. I wear an a/m all the time in my kayak. It came in handy last weekend! On a boat, only in bad conditions or when running
  11. I have a hard time fishing them without. Confidence thing.
  12. What about colors? Bone and black?
  13. I'm sorry 14.5 acres. There are 3 musky in there in the 30+ inch range and one is 40+ easily.
  14. I fish a 3 or 4 acre lake and I've come to the conclusion that it's high quality fishing. I've caught numerous 4+ pound largemouth and smallmouth and just today saw a Wolfpack of smallies in the 5 pound range! My PB is 6+ largemouth and have seen others. My question is, why? Pond has one feeder creek with steep banks and standing timber, a large section of riprap, lots of submerged grass, and a couple of rock piles. It has largemouth, smallmouth, bluegill, tiger musky, blue cats, and stocked trout. I'm not complaining but just trying to understand why this small lake is so much better than other similar ponds and lakes I've fished.
  15. Yup, waiting for the bbz30 rat
  16. Anyone ever take the classic hula grub and put it on a swing jig? Seems to me like it would work well and be a different use for hula grubs other than rigging them on a standard jighead.
  17. Bushings? That'd be a terrible reel.
  18. No thermocline during or after turnover. Thermoclines are clearly visible when there is a a big difference in the density of water.
  19. When you see a lot of organic debris on surface and notice an odor, then you know turnover happened. Fish dirt shallow if you want to catch anything.
  20. My dealer was an hour and a half away. Was worth it
  21. I just got a lure 11.5 a couple weekends ago. Love it. Lots of storage and useful compartments and the seat is amazing. Easy to stand in and has a cushioned pad on the standing platform which makes you a quieter angler. The lure does NOT flex. Yeah it can be a pig to paddle but that's what you sacrifice for a wide hull. It's actually fairly fast for its size.
  22. People can spin themselves out with too many colors. When you read about pros color suggestions they all say the same thing. K.i.s.s. If you need to add color to match match, use dyes or markers. With that said, my go to colors are Black blue Green pumpkin black Green Pumpkin red flake Brown and black. Covers all craw combinations and allows you to reduce number of packets of soft plastics as only 2-4 trailer colors are needed.
  23. Any suggestions on a good net for kayak?
  24. Caught a couple dinks last night burning my cranks. I noticed bass following and not committing. Burning and pausing or smacking limbs caused the bass to strike.
