  1. Anything above 10 is adequate
  2. A. J pow...duh B. Christie....Garmin panoptix is huge for this type of fishing. C. Elam...riding the momentum and has success in the north D. Hite...can catch him when he wants and he wants to make the classic E. Shimizu...good history with big lake smallies.
  3. I have ricos that I like. However...just got a duo realis popper and I like it more! Duo spits like an old Johnny Reb sitting on his porch. Pops well and walks well. Does more than the rico plus has a feather tale. The rico has a loud rattle though.
  4. I want one for terminal tackle as I read it was great for it. Can make the compartments small which is great as you don't need 2 inches for 5 dropshot weights. Allows you to carry more and keep it organized.
  5. Flat area any depth. Can be 20 or 30 feet or much more or just 10 inches.
  6. Makes a great Christmas ornament
  7. I saw that but his last facebook post was from 2013 and I'd rather just do it myself
  8. There aren't any local rod makers. I'm sure a few that make their own in their basement but nobody I can find. I'm crafty anyway and would like to learn. Give me an idea if rod building is something I'd consider in future.
  9. What size thread do yall suggest?
  10. Ran out of spin hooks today and had to resort to the palomar. No problems hauling fish over and around timber.
  11. Thanks, I haven't seen that.
  12. Torpedo But most prop baits are made of balsa hence their cost.
  13. Get a pro to do well with carrot Stix and their reputation will improve. Until then they have a stigma.
  14. Thanks fellas. I figure I'll keep using my spin hook with sdj but if I'm in a jam and don't have any left I'll probably tie palomar. Btw I use ML xf 7'1" tatula
  15. Just got the twilight pattern duo spinbait 90 today and had a line size question. I've used the 80 before on 8lb fc and felt like 10 wouldn't have been stretching it. With the 90, I've read 12lb but do you think I can get by with 15lb copoly (cx premium has smaller diameter than most copoly) or should I bring my 12lb fc reel with me on my kayak.
  16. Fuse is good and the missile craw too if you up size tackle a bit. The missile drop craw is goldfish food.
  17. Anyone else like this technique. Used it for first time last weekend and caught a mess, mostly dinks in a couple hours. I feel like it can be my new go to Co angler technique. The weight gives you more precision on targetting underwater cover and it keeps the worm off bottom in their face.
  18. When rigging a dropshot hook with FC which knot do you prefer. I've always heard palomar, but have read recently that it's not the best knot for the application as it can break at the hook (actually saw just that last weekend). I like the SDJ knot and could probably extend tag end long enough for leader. I've also got swivel hooks I like to use but sometimes it's just quicker to tie one knot rather than two.
  19. I'd only consider upgrading for my t3 1016 so I can toss lighter rigs. Otherwise abec5s get the nod.
  20. My package was delayed too. I'm sure I'd be frustrated if I needed it for a trip but I expect to have it by Sunday for my outing. I love ups btw. I've never had an issue that wasn't resolved fast and my usual delivery woman is nice. Now I've had bad experiences with fedex losing packages and delivering them to wrong locations.
  21. It's not a ups problem, it's a culture problem. If you don't get a package from California to Virginia coast in 2 days we complain. Granted we pay for that service but at some point we gotta realize that that is an incredible feat.
  22. 17 pound as jigs get thrown into nasty stuff.
  23. Throwing a 3/8oz dropshot weight does not require a bfs reel.
  24. Insert popped out of my rod and okuma is sending me a new guide but told me to find my own installer. I'm figuring it'll be easier and cheaper to just fix the insert myself. What supplies do I need? Doesn't need to be perfect...just get me through the year.
