  1. I fish thick lily pads and watershield and you do punch them. Caught a lot of bass that way. 3/4oz tungsten and up. Only other way to fish them is with weedless topwater.
  2. I've smacked my rods a couple times on my lure. Not usually a problem unless I'm overhead casting.
  3. Dshad in smoke shad with a mustad grip pin swimbait hook 4/0
  4. 54 on a bass raider with me and my dad plus fishing supplies...on top speed will boogy and make waves
  5. Going to use power shot this weekend at my tournament in heavy timber and wonder who all uses a leader like on a finesse dropshot. I have 16 and 20 lb copoly to use with 65 pound braid.
  6. I had the same mindset until my desire to get out on the water overpowered it. Sitting to fish is better than standing on shore frustrated that you can't do anythinng
  7. They don't mind the little extra metal.
  8. Standing and controlling the kayak is also tricky. So in higher winds I tend to just sit and fish.
  9. No, they are different hooksets. The one I use, the rod loads as you reel into fish and then you lift to stick the hook. The other one is more power fishing style. Feel bite, pick up slack (if any), lift/swing while reeling. You could see both styles in bass coverage of stclair.
  10. 1. The fish should hook themsleves. Just wait for bait to disappear and not pop back up and start reeling with a slight sweep of rod. 2. Fish aren't committed to eating your bait. Switch color...if not that cadence or style of topwater can be modified.
  11. Anyone know how to make one instead of dropping $30 or more on a premade one?
  12. I have the 54. Buy it. That's all I gotta say about that.
  13. I don't want to change. Just curious how diverse the hooksets are. On Glenns video he suggests lifting quick then reeling. Like I said when I do that I feel that I'm pulling bait out of mouth.
  14. How do you all set the hook when dropshotting? I reel into the fish until line is tight and lift slowly. I also use a semi exposed dropshot hook with ML xf rod. On fishing shows, some people do it like me like Brett Hite at the classic but watching St Claire tournament many people were lifting quickly and little reeling. I've tried the quick lift before and I've lost or missed almost all of those fish.
  15. I fill a sink full of water and soap and toss my reels in.
  16. I don't mean to be rude...but there is a 4 page thread on chatterbait rods at the very top of this forum
  17. 1. Dump a gallon of arsenic in the water 2. Stop being friends with him
  18. The timber edge is usually best as it represents a depth change with cover. Often a creek bed will be on it which explains lack of timber. Think of any heavy cover situation like this, be in fields of lily pads or timber: If you were in the desert, where would you build a house? Smack dab in the middle where everything is the same or on a Ridgeline with a couple palm trees?
  19. Depends on depth and time of year. Find points and pockets and depth changes. Don't go straight for middle
  20. Mustad makes one
  21. My local store has a ton of these. TW only has plastic skirt version. Is the hair more desirable or should I cut it off and just put on a swimbait/fluke?
  22. Christie was a solid pick. J pow choked today... Bhite roared back but day 1 killed him. Elam in good position and Shimizu had a solid showing for E bracket.
