  1. Thanks fellas. The recon 2 7'6" heavy is rated to 2.5 oz and gets good reviews. Plus the sic guides and weight makes it stand out to me
  2. I broke about an inch and a half off my Daiwa s 7'4" frogging rod Saturday and now need a replacement. I use it for punching as well as swimbaits wakebaits between 1 and 2 oz...although Id like to buy a 4oz duo onimasu swimbait. Looking at Daiwa Tatula 7'4" frog rod Phenix recon 2 Irod genesis 2 Suggestions? I like daiwa but have always wanted to try phenix or irod since I always hear good things.
  3. Cast out and let sit For 10 seconds or so. Slow drag until you feel an object and experiment with letting it sit and shaking it. Thats really about it. Somedays you can drag quickly.
  4. Confident means feeling giddy that I could get a bite on any cast. Love that feeling. How do i get confidence? Listening to music. It gets me out of my head and puts me in a good mood
  5. I have a lure 11.5 At 600 you are stealing it. Yeah its a bit of a pig to paddle sometimes and doesnt track the best and with a good breeze you will struggle. But its very comfortable and has great storage and ive no problem standing and fishing in it all day to the amazement of anyone nearby.
  6. I caught a 13oz bass on the king daddy...
  7. Couple weeks ago got so stuck that my prop was out of water....had to get paddle and spin the boat off the stump. When in doubt, rotate the boat.
  8. I have a pair of optimum baits alumnium pliers with split ring tips and carbide cutters. Hate em. Whats worse is that every brand uses the same base plier but repaint it and rename it. Its very slick without gloves and the cutters dull and when you replace them its hard to align them properly.
  9. Not really. Most effective seem to be white and black depending on cloud conditions but I dont even buy that really. I like bright colored frogs (or white) because I can see them better and can tell easier if a bass has taken it or just submerged it.
  10. Pushing 5. Good fish
  11. You dont need baitcasting rods. The reels can have a harsh learning curve. A couple of really talented fisherman in my club only use spinning. I just really enjoy using them and feel like I can rip off multiple casts easier and faster than spinning reels
  12. Honestly Taking care of cork is a hassle.
  13. The daiwa 7'4" frog rods have a good taper for slop fishing. That said...i use mine for punching and an *** 7'3" xfast for my frogs. I like to stick it to em and not have any play in my rod
  14. Never had mine sink...*shrug* They walk great but i dont really frog in open water. Id rather use other lures.
  15. Dobyns does a lot of heavy discounts for pro staff and organizations/clubs
  16. Great...named after my girlfriend. Gonna have to get it. Wonder if itll be as lively in my hands?
  17. Mlf is all about numbers Catching three four pounders will get you eliminated
  18. Visor Open top is optimal for cooling while still blocking light with bill. Also lightweight and can be pulled over your arm when you are making a high speed run down the lake.
  19. Quantum is more than just a company. There are people there who have built a solid relationship both personally and professionally with Kevin. Leaving for money is not a wise choice when you have no connection with the new brands employees. Its like packing up all your things, saying goodbye to your friends and family and moving to Argentina for a job that barely pays more.

    Frogs

Dam0007 The green one is a "nervous walker" no longer in production. I had one and its incredibly soft and comes with rattles. Lots of good reviews on them as well as big bass. Cant find them anymore though
  21. I fished a duo110 yesterday in 80 degree clear water and caught the fire out of them. Around wood and grass they couldnt resist me ripping it in their faces. Clearly not just a cold water lure
  22. I recently bought mustad toad hooks in 4/0 and they appear to be very narrow. Im afraid that when i rig them the toad will not depress far enough out of the way to get a good hookset. So for now Im using an ewg spring keeper swimbait hook. Are all toad hooks that narrow and does it effect performance that much?
  23. I read about this somewhere...basically you tie on a punch rig with a 3/4 or 1 oz weight and pitch to trees that have many submerged limbs and let the bait rocket down the tree smacking into branches to trigger strikes. I have the perfect location to try this with trees having many deep limbs. Has anyone had success doing so? I know hackney likes using heavy jigs for similar purpose.
  24. I have a feelfree lure 11.5 I fish with and my girl wants to tag along in her own kayak. She fishes a little but doesnt need a full blown fishing kayak. Just something light, comfortable, SOT, and good storage. Something we can take on a river trip and her feel safe in. The feelfree moken light looks good but its pushing the price range. Any othee options to consider?
  25. Mono is breaking But line diameter is not an issue. 17lb monos with larger diameters arent true 17lb test.
