  1. Hey fellas, Ive a feelfree lure 11.5 kayak with lowrance elite 3x with transducer through scupper hole that tucks into hull slightly. Ive gotten efficient in reading and using it and I am considering a Helix 5 SI. However Im afraid the mounting options are limited as the hull may block the transducer and Im not big on a swing arm mount as it adds weight and encumberance. Anyone have any experience with si kayaks?
  2. The spro is what i was using Favorite colors? I have the silver one but wanna try baby bass.
  3. Most craws i see are olive or black olive or black blue No need to use other colors imo.
  4. I like mustad grip pin lineup. They work well to keep bait in place e of bass tearing em up. I use their ewg and swimbait hook the most. Swimbait hook is great for flukes
  5. Yesterday while fishing for crappie in 15fow over large brush pile i hooked into 2 two pounders on this lil thing bumping over branches in 46 degrees of water. Youd be surprised at what big bass will eat ...
  6. Im assuming youre shore fishing. Just slow down. Drag a tube...drop shot. Look for brush piles and work them over good. Bass are still aggressive and need to feed up but now baits with pauses like flukes and jigs will draw strikes.
  7. My dad fished them all the time in the 80s and passed em on to me. Caught a 21 inch smallie on a motoroil hula grub when i was young. Wanted to use it in my last tournament but forgot to pack them! They look pretty good on swing head jigs too!
  8. Tournament last october my boater and i both caught three 5 1/2s largies....just tossing them on deep points and small small branches in short water. We went 1st and second....it def isnt a smallie presentation
  9. The longer ones are hard to transport but are very useful. Id use it more if one of my lakes wasnt so steep banked. Ive caught fish with it that i wouldnt otherwise
  10. Local shop had the 7 foot medium for retail price (they sell everything marked up...daiwa t3 ballistics still marked at $250 dollars) Lightweight and the reel seat seems comfortable. The x braiding down rod is intriguing. Otherwise its just like the tatula and zillion rods had a child... Id prefer to spend the 170 on a rod with more flair and history...but still the x braiding may make a difference.
  11. I do like dshad's as trailers...the tail whips and flutters side to side and is more finesse than boot tail. I have no issues with a texas rigged chatterbait when using a soft rod...in fact my hookup ratio is excellent by just reeling into them and sweeping like a crankbait. I also use a heavy pound mono/flouro and can still rip it out of grass and pads without much effort. I doubt it. The rage blade is essentially an upside down dive bill. Regular blades dont have quite the same severe dynamics
  12. Depends on brand and style...some are shaped and designed in a way they rise in water column. I usually go 3/8 but again that will run very shallow for some brands.
  13. ive had the viberators and didnt like them...they are very snaggy even when texas rigged...which the screwlock is not in line with hook point which makes the trailer sit at a weird angle. For that price im buying the freedom chatterbaits...extremely snagproof and have an outstanding hunting action.
  14. I have a 9 foot fiberglass stakeout pole with metal tip. Has been very useful and was 60 bucks i think.
  15. Get revenge!
  16. Tatula HD and comes in under budget
  17. Santone chris mccall Tons of colors...and the design of the head makes the swimjig roll side to side like a crankbait...very unqiue feature
  18. Was thinking of trying new 691 tatula feider came out with. But i have been using dobyns fury 7' mh cranking rod to good success. Lose a few fish but thats jerking for ya.
  19. Burning crankbaits or small spinnerbaits should at least draw out fish. Also ripping jerkbaits like your life depended on it can really create some awesome strikes in clear water. Just dont slow down your retrieve if there is a follower. You HAVE to speed it up or they will lose interest.
  20. Night fishing can be as hard as any other time. You cant just expect to go out and slay monster bass. Weather, light conditions, water temp and structure/cover play a huge role. Darkness hides some of the flaws in presentation and casting...if you can improve those in the daylight (accurate and silent entry into water) you will catch as many big fish in daylight
  21. Chart gill halo is a loud color imo. Better to go ghost gill from duo
  22. Im in the minority. I like a soft rod. I use a modfast for all my single hook moving baits. My hookup ratio is very high and have caught fish near boat I never would have with a fast action rod.
  23. 1 piece is fine if its really short. Id prefer a 2 piece so she can break it down and stash it out of way when not intereres in fishing. I was thinking an UL up to 3/16 or 1/4 oz. Panfish and small bass are the target.
  24. Can anyone suggest a very short two piece spinning rod under 100 for my gf. She fishes out of small kayak and she struggles with my 7 foot rods and the small ugly stick she uses is hard to accurately cast.
  25. My cabelas has terrible rod/reel and lure selection...just terrible. Hopefully this changes things
