Much easier to slither an ez or gz through pad stalks than a weedless hud.
Anyone have experience with the Jenko booty shaker? Comes in multiple sizes up to 8 inches and has a larger profile compared to slender boottails.
How cost effective is it to make your own jig skirts? Id like to make traditional and swimjig skirts to get exactly what I want. Save a few dollars through the course of a year?
There is no other solution Im afraid.
And tubes are typically tough as nails in my experience.
Retying a tube is much easier than rigging a new one up and then tying especially in tournament situation or when the fishing is hot.
Im not worried about the bass seeing braid....
...Im worried about braid fraying or digging into wood.
Not to mention slack line sensitivity is nill!
Im going to play around with a 25 or 30 yard leader this year. Plenty long for pitching and short casts/skips. Ive tried short leaders but it really limits you when you need to make a special cast into a tight spot when knot catches guide (alberto knot even!)
The problem is my main pitching rod also is my toad/frog rod so Im going to be cutting leaders a lot when i go to different lake.
What are the advantages of using large soft plastic swimbaits over traditional swimbaits like huddlestons?
I keep playing around with idea of gamblers gz and really big gz for slow rolling for big bass.
Hook options are more varied and they are cheaper but are less detailed and not as bulky. Florida boys do just fine with gamblers so I wonder why even buy highly detailed expensive swimbaits?
This applies to the sale of new lead.
You wont find it in stores.
They wont force you to throw out your lures you already have. Im just thinking that store shelves are gonna be pretty bare in future
Lately using 3/8 with chunk and trimmed skirt on heavy rod and 65lb braid on 15 to 20 fow.
Hard to maintain contact with bottom. If i use 16ln flouro itd be a different outcome.
Basically what im saying is that it has a lot to do with your tackle
Ok guys, lets see what you think.
Im going to a few acre small lake tomorrow on kayak. Water level is up with a little stain and water temp is 40. Max fow is 30 and most of the lake is 15 foot except very close to bank. Grass throughout most. One long tapering point with grass and some riprap. Many laydowns and standing timber.
A few 5+ pound lmb and some 3+ pound smallies in there confirmed as well as a couple huge musky.
Do i go with a 68special weedless hud and creep it, a finesse alabama rig, a small bbz1 baby shad, or dropshot? A jig will be tied on another rod.
Well in south korea the bass really prefer eating live octopus. A number 1 circle hook and a small octopus will outfish any traditional bass lure in korea by a factor of 6 to 1.
Gotta dropshot them though to prevent the octopus from crawling in a hole and hiding
Havent seen any redish craws around here. Olives and black blues are what ive seen. I also catch plenty on those colors.
Adding another option to my box will only make me second guess myself.
Best option is to switch to a red flake trailer on GP jig.
I got a bbz1 baby shad for xmas and was wondering if its any good in cold water (high 30s to low 40s)
Small size and smooth action seem like it may draw strikes?
Wouldnt use cranks with xf.
This rod is for finesse and weightless presentations. 1/4oz jigs, shakey heads, light weight texas rigs, weightless senkos, tubes, dropshots, soft jerkbaits, small swimbaits
Yup every place i go has em. Lost a 6+ off one last late spring.
And if you arent throwing where you can snag you arent bass fishing! If you snag go get it and come back in 20 minutes.
One thing that really helped me was to start by casting out from the hut into deeper water. A lot of times there are stickups out there not just right on the hut. I basically start deep and move shallower until Im casting right against the hut.
Going back to the 6 pounder...the water was super clear and as I move beside the hut I could see a large school of yellow perch mixed with bluegill and crappie. They are amazing fish attractors.
Anyone have experience with these? Im really into tubes last couple years and prefer texas rigging. Im using trokar tube hook and am having success but doesnt have the fall of a jighead tube.
I use 4/0 trokars and dont know if i should get 3 or 5/0 owner....the 4 fits perfectly. I know the owners line tie is a little further back in bait.
Thanks guys
