It's not that Quantum spinning reels are bad, it's just that Shimano reels for the same price are so very good. For this reason, I don't see much need to venture into other brands at the $150-$200 pricepoint.
I do believe Academy has the Smoke spinning reel on clearance online.
You lose versatility. I can get by casting weightless Senkos or 3/8 oz spinnerbaits on my MH *** in a pinch. I don't believe that a Heavy would do that.
They're light for sure, but I have trouble casting lighter baits on mine due to the braking. I feel like the choice is between no brakes and all brakes. Reel bombs a Red Eye Shad or hollow-body though.
On topic, BPS Prolite but they are getting hard to find on the secondary market and I believe that parts are becoming an issue.
Fish will tell you what they want.
If a plastic isn't getting bit, they may want to chase something. If they won't chase, try finesse. If they're not hitting senkos, lipless cranks, or shakey heads, go play golf.
MH is fine for me. H is also fine if you need more power. In regards to something having to give, sounds like nonsense to me. The fish is going to give. It's not like you're setting the hook on a cinder block.
I'm iffy on both. I have a Chronarch 51e that's starting to have problems. I'm avoiding gen 3 Revo's. Too much bad press. I am moving towards either JDM Shimano or high end Daiwa. I have high hopes for the Tatula as it would save me some serious money.
I feel the need to mention that sensitivity is subjective. Everyone has a different opinion.
As a bank fisherman, I prefer a $300 rod over three $100 rods. No need for sweeping generalizations.
Chronarch 200e7 from the choices given.
If you can wait, the Daiwa Tatula is looking like a solid reel. Additionally, Shimano should have an October release.
If you're going to pay retail for the Veritas, there are better options outside of the Abu brand.
If these are your only choices, do as others have said.
4 inch Green Pumpkin Senko, but you probably knew that already.
Green Pumpkin or Pumpkinseed Zoom Tube with a jighead stuffed inside. The bigger the jighead, the better. It imitates a craw or goby. Gobies are like Smallmouth Powerbars.
Baby Rage Craw in Hard Candy with a bullet weight of your choosing.
Those are my picks.
I have one of the glass rods. They're ok but certainly entry level. I have heard bad things about the durability and construction of the graphite rods.
