  1. I hope the Shallow Shad Raps get the custom ink treatment as well. I could also go for some more Subwoofer colors.
  2. I think you should wait to see what the new Zillion looks like and/or pick up a clearance Zillion at TW.
  3. 7'3" is possible. I'm concerned about the 4 power throwing baits over 1 oz. I am interested in 5" Punkers. The 734 gets rave reviews and I would be open to it; I'm just not sure that I am comfortable with the 4 power. I'm also looking at the 7'4" XHF Zillion swimbait rod. I think I could get it in the car but it might be tight, especially with a rod sock. Jigs and chatters are sort of a secondary concern; I just felt that the mod-fast 6 power would be a good thing to try them on.
  4. It's graphite.
  5. I got some essentials, nothing exciting. Those Zillion rods are haunting my dreams though.
  6. I don't think it makes a difference. However I use black weights because that's what Siebert Outdoors sells. Can't beat the price.
  7. So I'm looking for a rod that can handle big topwater walking baits, 1/2 oz.+ chatterbaits and swimjigs, and potentially some swimbaits around 1 oz. like Mattlures U2 'gills. I don't do any deep cranking but the rod might see some 1/2-3/4 oz lipless duty. Braid will probably be used. How do you guys feel about the 706CB for these techniques? I'm all ears if anyone has ideas for other rods. The only catch is that the rod has to be around 7' long as it must be able to ride comfortably in the front seat of my sedan. Thanks!
  8. How would you compare the punch jig head and the swim jig bullet head? My wallet is itching.
  9. This 4th of July, celebrate your freedom. . .from inferior handles!
  10. Yeah! I actually just found out from the Youtube comments when I linked that video. We'll see how it works out I suppose.
  11. I have a Leatherman Micra on my keychain. It has been exactly one day since I've put the open Leatherman back in my pocket and stabbed myself.
  12. I aim to please! Apparently she's the new vocalist for Arch Enemy now as well.
  13. Lucky Craft Gunfish 115 in Shell White
  14. I think you'd be well served by the 3 power if Senkos are in the mix.
  15. I have been looking at Mattlures U2 Bluegills for the same reason.
  16. Sounds like fun! Good tip on the summer craw baby Rage. I've got a trip to Elk Rapids/Charlevoix coming up.
  17. I like it for poppers and propbaits.
  18. The only way to do better under $200 is to buy used.
  19. I'd say 8-12 fow is moderate depth cranking. I would definitely throw those cranks on a MH rod and I might take it down to 12 lb. fluorocarbon, maybe even 10 lb. I would try the rod power change before the reel gear ratio change.
  20. Being led away from a $130 baitcasting combo is anything BUT the wrong direction. The PQ/Carbonlite combo has been a tested and proven starter setup for years. Many members of the forum, myself included, learned on a Pro Q reel. It's an excellent place to begin your casting education.
  21. If 10's working, I'd continue to use it. No sense in creating a problem where there isn't one.
  22. Do you happen to have a source for that? My experience has been very different.
  23. I am a big fan of the Plano 3701 boxes.
  24. I am curious about this. I have some 1/4 oz. Siebert jigs. I have trimmed the skirt to a finger-width below the hook bend for a compact jig with nice skirt flare. However the untrimmed weedguard is now significantly longer than the hook and skirt. I wonder if in my case trimming would be a good idea. I suppose I could always take out some strands if the guard ends up being too stiff.
