  1. Don't tie a Uni-Uni. Practice the Alberto knot or another knot designed for two different line diameters. The Uni-Uni works best with near identical diameters.
  2. Yeah I think you're going to cast off the 130 on 15 lb braid. The 90 will work well though.
  3. Sooooo if this kind of crap is going to be the norm, can we just skip the painfully long regular season and half the painfully long playoffs?
  4. Pre-ordered a Savage Gear duck. Quack quack. Also got a bunch of Owner soft bait hooks.
  5. It's hard to argue with Calcuttas, but Ryoga and I are trying.
  6. Slimy R-Edition with SV spool
  7. Two ways to go here I think. Go a bit lighter in power with a fast action, or go heavier with a moderate or mod-fast action. Lure weight and line type are also factors. If your budget allows, Megabass makes a lot of do-everything moving bait rods.
  8. Potentially not gross. I might be in.
  9. The stock snap scares me and tying direct seems questionable. What size snap are you guys using on your Slammers? Looking at the Owner Hyper Crosslock but I have to order online.
  10. The TT guys have been using Hybrid since at least the mid 2000's. They definitely have enough experience with it to write a review, LOL. Turkey, CXX if you haven't tried it. Really nothing is wrong with Hybrid. It's just sort of old tech at this point.
  11. Yeeah. Braid with leader has its place but it's still just a tool in the box. Tatsu is good but stretchy stretch stretch.
  12. Scratches add character.
  13. 15 lb invizx is significantly thinner than 15 lb cxx. I use cxx as a bite leader for pike fishing if that tells you anything about it being overkill for most bass fishing. Apples and oranges really.
  14. The Evergreen rod that Brett Hite uses for chatterbaits is not exactly your average crank bait rod. It's a composite rod that's sort of graphite tip and midsection with a glass butt. There's a material change like two thirds of the way down the blank. It's weird.
  15. I would shy away from that power handle for bass fishing. It's quite heavy and the knobs are larger than what I find comfortable. I bought one for frogging and swimbaiting on a Zillion and I don't use it; it's overkill. The 90mm Tatula stock handle is a pretty nice handle.
  16. I don't think your magical mystery braid exists.
  17. Don't quote me but iirc Dobyns is like 40% off or something if they sponsor your college club.
  18. Braid to lure gets a Uni knot. Braid is unnecessary unless you're in grass or pads or if you're frogging. Don't feel like you have to use it. However it is pretty good. Most of my reels use power pro. Leader almost always except ripping lipless cranks and frogging.
  19. Full handle on the 6'8 rods? They have my attention.
  20. Well you should put ceramic bearings and Carbontex in everything anyway. As for your lipstick on a pig idea, Citica E.
  21. They can see it, but the real question is, do they care?
  22. The Chronarch spool can go a bit lighter lure-wise and seems to start up fast and stay fast. It's an excellent caster for distance. Plus it has some knob bearings and some bling that the Curado I lacks. The Chronarch palms nicer to me, I think because the Curado has a larger or lower gearbox or something. I also really like the Chronarch's knobs, though I think they may be on the Curado 70 as well now.
  23. Yeah, solid buy for cranking. Will it work for Ploppers and wakes? Certainly. Will you find that you want a different rod for walking baits? Probably. But that's ok.
