  1. The bayou hasn't been as good this year for me as in years past it seems this year it has been all about the river. Up until this month I was catch 20 to 30 a morning with 5 to 10 of them being around 3 pounds but latly I have been in able to locate the big ones. I got word last werkend of a sand bar on the bayou that was loaded with big ones that I plan on trying first thing Saturday morning. Ill let you know how it goes.
  2. No not the same person but I had a surprisingly good year on the river this year up until August. I might would even go as far to say my best year yet. With that said though the month of August has been a completely different story 100 degree days make it tuff to hang in there very long and it seems once the sun gets up good around mid morning the fish scatter and are no where to be found. The bites I do get are few and far between right now.
  3. Sorry to hear that! I went to bayou d'arbonne this past Saturday and fished near joe bobs running buzz baits and flipping wood with creature baits and got several bites flipping but was unable to connect with any of them. I was able to catch a couple on top water and on square bills. I'm just having confidence issues right now when I go to the river I can't get a good rhythm with anything so I get frustrated and leave to quick most days but I'm sure the river being at pool like it is with no current isn't helping either.
  4. The main thing I was wanting to find out is now that we are getting later in the year and it won't be to much longer until things start to cool down so how do you like to approach the river as fall conditions set in. I have always put my rods away by August because I begin to get ready for deer season but this year I'm going to try to fish the entire year and iv never really fished this time of year.
  5. When flipping a t-rig I really like a 3/8 tungsten
  6. Blah blah a hook is a hook iv used Trokar and really wasn't impressed. The tip is very sharp but I found after a couple trips the tip actually gets bent because of how thin the point is. IMO don't waist your money go with gamakatsu or owner. They will do the same job and last alot longer.
  7. White 1/2oz booyah spinnerbait
  8. I bought my first pair of costas this year and I won't leave home without them! I couldn't imagine a better pair of sunglasses
  9. Thanks for the replies everyone I'm headed to the ouachita river right now to see how things work!
  10. Thanks for the reply! I will deffinently give the mustads a shot!
  11. I'm kinda new to the deep cranking style of fishing and iv noticed iv been missing alot of fish right at the boat. I have been throwing a strike king 5XD that I took straight out of the box and went fishing. Now that I have gained confidence in this technique I'm looking to upgrade my hooks to get a little better hook ups. So what's your favorite crankbait hook?
  12. I use 10lb trilene XL on my spinning set up. I'm not a huge fan of FC on my spinning setups because of all of the memory and I don't use braid because I like a line with alot of stretch when fishing a spinning setup.
  13. Save your money for a little longer and go with a 7ft hvy duckett. It will double as a flipping rod and a great frog rod.
  14. Strike king 5XD and 6Xd all I ever throw and occasionally a 10XD
  15. Is anyone on here from north louisiana?
  16. Anyone on here fish the ouachita river around Monroe?
