  1. I’d look into the Powell inferno. It’ll have a couple of options for a frog rod that will still be sensitive enough to be used for jigs or heavier baits
  2. I would recommend a longer ML for drop shots, the other two techniques can be covered by what you have
  3. That’s my favorite speed for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits, I’d try it for those
  4. I would fish 6’9 or shorter, and I personally like a fast tip. It allows you to getting better action with each twitch of the rod. As for rod power, that comes down to preference, but for me I would want either a medium or a MH on the lighter side
  5. Back to the actual question at hand, any of those reels are great performers, I would try to get them in your hands and see which is the most comfortable for you
  6. I think a rod that’s good for jigs and frogging May be too stiff for deep diving cranks. If you want a good jig and frog rod though, look at the Powell Endurance Rods. They have a couple of heavy rods at 7’3 that I think would work well
  7. I personally think a Duckett ghost will allow you to fish all of those applications well because it has a softer tip but plenty of backbone. Go for the 7’ MH
  8. Same, I need a new rod to pair with a reel I just bought
  9. Does anyone know if they are doing a Fourth of July Sale this year?
  10. I have the 7’2 H for my heavy jigs. It’s a faster action, but for pulling fish out of cover it does an amazing job. I work frogs on my very easily
  11. I just picked up a REVO ALX and I’m trying to decide on a new rod for it. I’m looking for something to throw weightless flukes and other baits, along with jerkbaits. I’m looking for a rod between 6’7 and 6’9, and I’m looking for something between $150 to $200. What do you suggest?
  12. My first all around set up was with the original falcon bucoo, so I’ll throw in a vote for that?
  13. I’d look at the offerings from Pflueger, the Trion would be in your budget, or possibly even a president
  14. Besides it feeling awkward it won’t affect anything
  15. New reel came in today, REVO ALX. Found it for $100 off and couldn’t pass it up. I didn’t realize how small of a reel it is either, it’s roughly the size of a curator 70, it’s going to make a great finesse reel. I got it in the 8.0:1 gr
  16. Yea I’m thinking about picking one up for that reason, even though I don’t need one by any means haha
  17. I currently have a 7’2 H Tatula Rod I use for my heavy jigs when fishing structure, but I was looking to get a MH for when I’m fishing in shallower areas. I wasn’t sure if there were any advantages to the new Tatula line or if the original Tatula would be be way to go? Please advise
  18. Falcon and Fenwick both don’t get enough recognition. A surprisingly good one is Cabela’s Rods. Their ZX tournament series is probably one of the best Rods in the $100 segment
  19. I had the last version, and I highly recommend it. It has great sensitivity for the $100 price range and for around $60 you can’t beat it. To your point, Fenwick really doesn’t get enough credit for how great of Rods they make
  20. I may throw in another vote for the Sahara, I’ve had mine for 5 years and it still works great. I’m sorry, I don’t have any experience with the plums reels though
  21. What I generally suggest to anyone looking in that price range is Rae a look at the Fenwick Silverhawk. It’s a great rod that’s usually priced at $100 but is almost always on sale for about $60 at Cabela’s. I would definitely take a look at one if you’re near a Cabela’s or go online and look into them. I have a spinning version and I love it
  22. Just for being able to work it better with a casting reel, the diameter of 40# should be better
  23. I’m dying for my new reel to get in. I ordered a REVO ALX on Friday, these clearance prices are too hard to pass up on. I’ll make a post once it gets in
  24. I would go for a Pflueger reel as well. They are great reels and they will last a really long time. Not to mention their lower priced reels perform incredibly well. If you want something closer to the top of your budget, look at the Supreme XT, they are awesome reels
