  1. I removed the cap (from the opposite side), but nothing is able to be moved. The "recommended handle" won't fit the entire way in. Here are two pictures. The first picture is w/o the handle and the second is w/ the "recommended" handle. I feel like I'm missing a nut or something. What I don't understand is how a completely different handle works, but the recommended handle will not work, what am I doing wrong?
  2. Here is the diagram for a pflueger president (parts). http://www.ereplacementparts.com/pflueger-6730-president-spinning-reel-parts-c-186372_186375_186817.html
  3. I found a used pflueger president. The only issue is that it was missing its handle. I currently own the pflueger trion GX7; which uses the same handle. So until the handle arrived I just swapped them according to which reel I felt like using. The handle that works with both looks like this http://www.ereplacementparts.com/handle-arm-assembly-p-1432438.html The handle that I purchased for the president looks exactly like the handle recommended; except that it is wooden instead of rubber. Here's the recommended handle: http://www.ereplacementparts.com/handle-assy-p-1585753.html. Notice that the connecting ends are different on each. What am I doing wrong (or missing) that it won't connect correctly? Will I harm the president if I purchase a Trion GX 7 handle for it? Thank you for the help. I'm lost when it comes to the mechanics of reels.
  4. My Walmart never has amazing deals; you can sometimes get .50 or a few dollars off of a rod or reel. However, it was recommended that I should get the Berkely lightning rod or lightning shock rod. Well, I ordered the shock rod (with free shipping) and "accidentally" wandered into the clearance rack and found the lightning rod on sale. Also, a few crawdads and frogs were on sale that I didnt need lol.
  5. O.K. Thank you for the offer. That is very generous. I won't be in the area anytime soon, but I won't hesitate to contact you if/when I am. I saved your website.
  6. Westmoreland is pretty close. It would be about 40-60min. depending on where I left from (home or work). Do you know of any reliable shops near Connellsville, Normalville, Dawson, or even Greensburg or Ohiopyle ?
  7. Thanks for the help. I'm going to purchase the Berkley lightning rod. If I don't like it as well I will purchase the combo again and keep the Berkley/Pflueger as a back-up. @bigbill thank you for the tip. I'll check that out this evening.
  8. It has a warranty. However, it was completely my fault and the warranty is for malfunction of the rod. The break is well past two inches and isn't the whole way through. I smashed it with my car window. I can stop one day this week at a shop that does repairs on fishing poles and get an estimate. Thank you I will check out the replacement suggested at my local shops.
  9. Hi, I just started focusing on Bass fishing last year. I bought my first 'nice' rod and reel combo last fall. Unfortunately, I broke the tip of the rod on my first day back this Spring. Anyways, it is a Pflueger® Trion GX-7 Spinning Combo (M 6'). I got it "on sale" (lol $10 more than cabelas has it listed as now). Should I replace the rod or sell the reel and repurchase the combo from Cabelas? If I replace the rod should I get a different one? really like the feel of this specific rod and reel together, but should I consider a different rod and invest in a nicer one? Thanks for reading, sorry that my post is as clear as mud. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Pflueger-reg-Trion-GX-Spinning-Combo/738383.uts
  10. That's great that you got out! It always makes my day/evening better when I get to go fishing. Even on the days I get skunked its nice to just be outside.
  11. Congratulations. Thanks for the story!
  12. Exactly.I get excited if I only catch one fish. If I get skunked that just means I need to work harder and prepare better for the next time. I'm also a beginner at bass fishing so I'm easily impressed...
  13. I did buy everything that I mentioned in my last post. Even the rod and reel combo (6ft.). I'm not sure when I will be able to get on the water, but I wanted to say thank you -to everyone- for the help!
  14. Thank you, I appreciate it. Thats great news. I am going to Wheeling so I will look in the bargain cave.
  15. I'm going to Cabelas one day this week. I did look up each of the suggestions mentioned. They currently have a sale on the Berkeley lightning rod. Also, I like the reviews on the Pflueger president. The combo that I liked the most (when accounting the reviews and price) is the Pflueger® Trion GX-7 Spinning Combo $60. http://www.cabelas.com/product/Fishing/Rod-Reel-Combos/Spinning-Combos%7C/pc/104793480/c/104762880/sc/105791580/Pfluegerreg-Trion-GX-7-Spinning-Combo/738383.uts?destination=%2Fcatalog%2Fbrowse%2Fspinning-combos%2F_%2FN-1102843%2B10000049%2FNe-10000049%2FNs-CATEGORY_SEQ_105791580%3FWTz_l%3DSBC%253Bcat104793480%253Bcat104762880%26WTz_st%3DGuidedNav%26WTz_stype%3DGNU&WTz_l=SBC%3Bcat104793480%3Bcat104762880%3Bcat105791580 I did read some articles for beginners. I am planning on purchasing: (Texas Rig tackle) worms, worm hooks, bullet weight 10 lb. monofilament line -if its not included-. ETA: they only have the 5' ultra light available online. I would like to get atleast 6' and would prefer 6'6"-7' M or MH.
  16. Sorry. I need something basic that will last a long time, but do not need anything fancy. I am comfortable spending $50-100 while I'm learning or using my current set-up and spending up to $200-300? in the future.Thank you ETA : I was referring to "the future" as in 4-6 years from now.
  17. I'm from SW Pennsylvania. I started "lurking" on this forum about a month ago and finally made an account last week. I currently fish with an older spinning rod, but would like help on choosing a new rod and reel for an affordable price. I used to fish every day or most days out of the week, but took a few years off. This is my first year back and I'm interested in starting primarily bass fishing in the near future. Until I get more knowledge and time I'm happy learning, going when I can, and catching what's available. I wanted to say thank you for having access to these forums and the information presented! Tight Lines, Haylie Eutsey
