  1. This is a post i made in a previous thread.
  2. Just my 2 cents but you could always just leave them alone and let them guard the fry so they have a better chance of surviving until they can get that big.
  3. Like the others have said, and I tend to agree with them, is it could be the brand. It may be that after 7 bass there was a knock it the leader and that's why it broke. Whether you get new fluoro (if you do I would recommend invizx, I used it a lot last year and NEVER had a lost lure) stick with the spiderwire just make sure you check your line often even if you don't catch a fish. And if you catch more than say 3 you should consider just getting a new leader. That's my rule of thumb anyways. I do all the time.
  4. Mine is not dedicated but it is also used for weightless plastics as well. But when I think will use it i tie it before I leave the house. I try and avoid wasting time on the water.
  5. Im guessing that you had used one of the bottom of the barrel abu reel. every brand has low quality reels. To the OP I would say anu one of the revo's would be the best value. personally I like the STX the most.
  6. I was watching some fishing shows and one came up on punching.... 2 hours later I have a TW order for 160$ on the way for a bunch of punching gear along with steel and tungsten weights for plastics. I am weak!
  7. I store mine vertically as well. the sliding issue can be resolved by putting MORE bags in there I put most of them in a 4 corners system and there is usually some room in the middle for the smaller bags like robo worms.
  8. I feel its worth mentioning that I fish from a 16" boat and bring almost all the tackle I have with me. I have a cabelas advanced angler tackle bag size magnum. It holds 16" worth of 3700 series plans and 4 3600 series boxes. There are 6 3771's that are 1.38" thick, i have one 3750 that is 2" thick and 2 of the 3731 that are 3.25" thick. So I use over 1/3rd of my space for plastics. If I were fishing from the bank or even from a kayak i would cut that back to 1/4 of all of it.
  9. This might break the forums but I put a chatter blade on a megastrike shake2 pro shakeyhead with a skirt and a craw trailer. I did that to see if its more versatile because for most chatterbaits its a constant retrieve. I might pulse it or let it fall a bit but its not like a true jig.
  10. Frogs (spro, pad crusher, ***n and live target) Buzzbaits for moving baits And a Hendon super spook Jr. Its not a topwater lure but it works too so I will tell you. Some times I will TX rig a berkley kicker frog with a very light weight and work it like a swimmer doing the breast stroke. It works great.
  11. I have one 3731 full of worms and fluke style baits, the second is craws and creatures (frogs, lizards, and tubes). I also have a 3607 with all of my true finesse baits like vol flasher minnow, miki finesse miki, owner shivertail worm, and squirreltail worms. It might take an extra second to get a bait out but they're organized and I know right where they are. I would guess that between the 3 boxes I have 75+ bags. A plastic for every occasion.
  12. The issue is that are comparing apples to oranges. Have used spiderwire stealth braid and it performs verywell. That said i like that over powerpro but I like suffix 832 the most.
  13. Out of the ones you listed I would go with the lightning rod.
  14. I have that exact rod for walleye fishing. Its a nice rod even if it is a bit tip heavy.
  15. you want the 3731 its 3.25" deep. or the 3707 its 2" deep.
  16. I have 2 deep 3700's with all my plastics in the original bag. will keeping them in the plano directly hurt them ?...No but I like the original bags to keep the scents and juices.
  17. I rig these in 3 ways. First is just a straight tx rig (sometimes i will peg the weight 4" past the hook and drag it instead of swimming it). Second is with a weighted hook like any other swimbait and just swim it. Third option...sometimes i will put it on a shakeyhead and alternate draging and hopping.
  18. Baitmonkey hit hard this winter... 8 orders from TW, 2 reels from japan, 4 rods, and countless trips to cabelas (hour drive each way). In total: Abu garcia Revo Elite 8-L Abu garcia Revo LTX Abu garcia Revo MGX Abu garcia Revo Winch gen 3 Abu garcia Revo Premier Lews TP Dobyns 735c FH rod Fenwick Silverhawk St Croix Avid Pinnacle DHC5 only a few of the baits pictured were not purchased this winter... Saw some baitmonkey propaganda on jerkbaits and BAM, 2 vision 110's, 4 pointers, 2 shadow raps, 2 duo realis, SK KVD, 2 Yamamoto tenkuu, and a few other off names. Saw a video on the yo-zuri crayfish and had to get 3, saw some videos of frog fishing so....had to buy some different frogs, and my old standby is always plastics so had to get $200+ worth of plastics I havent tried... Oh yeah... and the 2nd amendment monkey got me too.... What!?! It was on sale!!! Dont look at me like that!
  19. I am currently using a 7.1:1 for frogs and a 7.9:1 for jerkbaits. I would recommend something on the faster side for both.
  20. I have been looking at the same ones. I have come up with the shimano symetre, abu garcia orra S, and the pflueger president. all are in your price range if you look around the internet.
  21. me too...
  22. I would recommend at leat 1-2 z man lures since they are the only one that can put the blade directly on the jighead.
  23. This is blatant baitmonkey Propaganda!!!
  24. yes mono instead of fluoro. but you dont want to go too heavy. 12-15lb is the sweet spot.
