  1. could be. Honestly I would contact Abu garcia and see what thay can do for you. too many people complain about a product of some forums when the company would be happy to help. I have a few shimano spinning reels and love them but I had a bad experience with a citica so I tried a curado G and just didnt like it. I do really like my Lexa and revos.
  2. eyeglass lens cleaner with a small micro fiber cloth.
  3. Keep in mind that the revo SX is mag brakes only while the STX is centrifugal and mag brakes. If its new Im willing to bet all 6 are on. I personally like my STX but had no love for my curado G and citica. Im really hoping that the zillion Type-R comes down a little or it will be between the Lews BB-1 or the CI4.
  4. there are a lot of options around the 100$ mark. You want to look at a 7' Medium Fast rod. Other than that its all preference. Cork vs EVA foam, brand x vs brand Z, Full handle grip vs split grip. I really like St. Croix, other will say another brand. I cant say that I would stay away from any brand.
  5. ah...cabin fever at its finest. Only 5 rods and reels here. but I have 14 weeks to go here...plenty of time
  6. I love spinnerbaits. You need different tactics for your retrieve...like others have said. They are virtually weedless so can throw them into some of the medium cover. My favorite is to throw them into the rushes and get the line to bend over some of the rushes and the spinnerbait nearly comes out of the water and back in silently. I have gotten so many strikes like that.
  7. That sucks dude. Same thing happens to me all the time. In my wifes family its become known as an olsonism.
  8. I notice that everyone has a preference...I say try them all. I have Quantum, shimano, Daiwa, Abu garcia, and even a phlueger. I can say now that I have one I will never buy phlueger again, but I am looking at getting a Lews BB-1. But I say the same for rods...Though I do tend to favor St croix. I still have a couple loomis rods, and a Daiwa, Gander mtn, and a TFO rod. I really like to not have everything be the same. If you want them to be the same then find a brand that has the specs you want and the looks you like. Good luck...your gonna need it.
  9. I have read all the responses and find myself asking,"if the mojo and premier are the same because they both use the SCII graphite, then why aren't we also asking about the triumph?" it is also SCII but 30-40$ cheaper. I do under stand that the triumph and premiers only go to 7' and also dont have any X-fast rods. But I ask why just get the triumph over both?
  10. I would have to say plastics first. Sittin there on a warm morning casting it out there and just workin slowly back to the boat. Its just so relaxing. But I do get the itch to take the chair off the bow and stand up and cast some spinner/buzzbaits every so often. Then it would be the frogs and poppers with jigs close behind. Not really a crankbait kind of guy. My wife just doesn't understand how I can spend 13+ hours on the water. From dawn till dusk gentlemen! Lovin every moment.
  11. That's the knot I use. And usually I don't tie it through the spool but this stx was just slipping even with 5-6 loops around the spool. So I figured I would try it. Thank you.
  12. I would say a med-fast casting rod for plastics, medium light for dropshot, or a heavy rod for pitchin. You could easily use your medium spinning for plastics and get a medium light for dropshot.
  13. You could consider the quantum accurist. It has a flippin switch. I have been looking at that one the revo s, or the lews bb-1 speed spool. Of those only the accurist has the flippin switch.
  14. Has anyone else thought about tying their line in and out of one of the little holes in the spool of their baitcasting reel? Is this a no-no?
  15. I was a hardened FULL GRIP ONLY type guy until this winter. I pulled out my rods from the garage and brought them in the house and the wife said that she didnt want "those dirty fishing poles in the house". So i swiffered them and really noticed that cork on my avids was perfectly clean between the handle and the butt. So i started looking at some of the rods with split grips and I havent looked back.
  16. 6" rapala. blue on top and silver/chrome on the bottom. I have caught a lot of them on that one
  17. I use my Medium uglystick for crankbaits.
  18. I've been looking for another Med fast rod and I want a Legend tournament bass rod. I have seen and like the new one with the 2-peice reel seat. My question is, is it worth it or is the older version just as good? The one i found on ebay is a LTBC70MF and it says TEASER on the butt section. it also has a more traditional reel seat. LINK HERE any guidance would be helpful.
  19. Its a personal preference. I guy I knew from baltimore said that every bass he ate on the east coast tasted like moss. Here in minnesota I am picky about which fish i keep. but yes i do eat plenty of bass. largemouth less than 5lb and big enough to be a keeper will be eaten. similar rules for smallmouth and walleye. For pike and muskies its 8-15lbs. large enough to cut out the Y-bone but over 15 need to go back to become larger. And Lake of the woods is a minnesotas lake
  20. just got some of the 4" ones. I also want to get some of the 3" ones to try for walleyes. Gonna try them as a texas rig and dropshot. (for bass)
  21. So I am going to try this to work a dropshot. My question is would you put the hook in the loop? the weight in the loop? would you put the hook\weight in the loop before you tied the knot? which part of the line do you think would be more sensitive?
  22. it was very close to what im looking for.
  23. That is VERY close. I would like to tie the hook to the mainline. and use one of the "droppers" as a 2'-4' line for the weight.
