  1. Looked just like this, except no stripe, a little lighter shade, and an overall smaller fish.
  2. 100% sure it was a bass. Looked just like a largemouth just didn't have a stripe and the teeth were way spikier than a largemouth's. And no pic, wasn't big enough for a picture. i have high standards lol
  3. Hooked into a bass this morning which confused me. Looked like a largemouth, but with no stripe. Went to pick it up and the teeth cut my thumb. Any idea? about 14 inches long.
  4. Just watched a few videos and I've seen these before, just wasn't sure what they were called or how to use them. I think I have something similar in my 3rd tackle box (the one my uncle gave me last year). Maybe i'll try it out next time i get out. Thanks for the help guys.
  5. Just curious, what is your guys' preference for drag when bass fishing? I keep mine almost as tight as possible, but have been reading recently that's not the way to go.
  6. Will do, appreciate it
  7. Honesty hour, I have no idea what spooks or walk the dog baits are.
  8. Ha! Thanks! and yes, yes it is. Oh i'd say it was warm enough to fish in mid-may. lol!
  9. I dont have a boat, and am a shore fisherman unless I go with someone that has a boat, so unfortuantely I can't really throw it onto the bank and then insert it into the water. Good advice though, i'll keep that in mind if I go with a buddy who has a boat soon.
  10. Have watched many youtube videos on how to fish them, and have done exactly what the videos say, still no luck. maybe it's the area I fish. Same spot I always fish I never see anyone using topwaters, and I've been fishing that spot for 4 years. However, it's not really a big deal to me. I consistently catch big bass in that spot with other lures.
  11. Have tried early morning to 10am and 5pm to 9:30pm. Never any luck.
  12. I've never had any luck fishing a topwater lure. Have tried 2 different fake frogs, a couple that look like fish, and one with a propeller. Have tried many different methods and have never had any luck, yet i constantly see bass jumping and what not (who doesn't) What am i doing wrong?
  13. Was fishing my normal spot today, and I never fish for Pike. I always bass fish with either my favorite purple shiny fake crawler with a loop tail (about 10 inches long) or a 4 to 5 inch fake minnow/bait fish. Was fishing with the fake minnow a few weeks ago when I hooked into my first pike, a 22.5 inch one. Thankfully I didn't get bit. lol. Great fight, fun catch. Today, was fishing with my fake crawler that i consistently hit big bass on, when I hooked into a pretty d**n large pike. As soon as he hit it, I knew it wasn't a bass. I get him about 8 feet from the shore and he jumps, and I finally see how big this thing is. He had to be at least 35 inches, and im sitting here with 10 pound line and a 6 foot bass fishing pole. Thought the whole time my pole was going to snap. Well I fight this fish, and I get him about 5 feet from shore and I see him in the water, this thing is a monster. He sees me and tries to run away, and he snaps my line (just glad it wasn't my pole). Is it normal for pike to hit fake crawlers like this?!
  14. Hey guys, I'm AJ and 20 from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Have been fishing my whole life. Have been browsing these forums for a while and finally decided to join, mostly because I had a question which I really really wanted answered lol. Anyway, Biggest bass i've caught was 23 inches (largemouth) and 21 inches (smallmouth). I also occasionally go night fishing for Catfish and enjoy walleye fishing on Lake Huron with my buddy as well. As for favorite lures, I use these 10 inch purple/shiny rubber crawlers with a looped tail that have proven results. My biggest and 2nd biggest largemouth (23 and 20 inches) have been on these fake crawlers. I also have good results using a blue/white x-ray rappala and about a 4 inch fake minnow. I enjoy fishing in Small to medium sized lakes, and my favorite spot is a runoff of the Grand River. Here's coordinates to the area on google maps so you guys can check it out. https://maps.google.com/?ll=42.938281,-85.807042&spn=0.008451,0.021136&t=h&z=16 A lot of fish come in here to spawn and what not, I've seen people pull monster catfish, pike, perch, crappie, carp, walleye, and I've pulled nice bass out of there consistently. Thanks guys! hope to talk to you all soon!
