  1. Anything with an exposed hook in conditions like that will probably get you a lot of weeds/snags. Be careful.
  2. He didn't cut through it, he snapped it. I had a metal leader on, at least I think that's what they're called. The ones that you can just easily change between a lure/hook without retying everything.
  3. I can't stand Pike..i'm not a big fan of any fish with teeth that can do serious damage. I do enjoy walleye fishing with my buddy on Lake Huron though in Saginaw bay, because he handles them lol. And they're DELICIOUS. I tell you what though man..that Pike I was hooked into had to be at least 30 inches. Biggest freshwater fish i've ever had on the end of my line. If my drag would have been set properly i would have been able to land him, but he snapped me off 5 feet from shore after he jumped about 8 feet out. Man..what a fight
  4. Sounds like it's tough to fish...I would try a fake crawler texas rigged/weedless..but you dont really have a lot of options with how weedy it is, anything with an exposed hook you're oging to be screwed
  5. That's tough, how's the bottom of the lake and how deep is it? Have you ever tried a fake crawler? (7 to 10 inches)
  6. Thanks guys!
  7. If you ever come out west let me know, I know some great spots around here
  8. will do! Will probably head out on Friday
  9. First of all, I find that stating my political party says a lot about me, but will change it if approached by a mod. #2, Rutgers?! come on dude. Rutgers is a joke in football. They will finish last in the conference for the next 2 years. Michigan? They'll be nothing without Denard. If Hoke is smart he'll have Shane Morris start at QB, he fits into his system much better than Gardner. Actually looking forward to see what OSU can do this year. I work in sports radio/tv, so im pretty informed about everything.
  10. That's interesting, because i've seen bible quotes on here before.
  11. Really? how far east?
  12. Thought i'd give these a whirl, anyone used them before? Tips?
  13. Can you guys do me a favor and link me to some websites with good pop-r's?
  14. What are the rules for signatures? is mine alright? Thanks!
  15. Anyone else here from Michigan? I'm in the Grand Rapids area, and would love to maybe get together with someone else in the state and hit the fish. PM me!
  16. Thanks all!
  17. I have the hook texas rigged, just dont like the bullet weights so i use split shots. Also I find that the weights help cast further as well, helpful when you don't have a boat..
  18. I throw a crawler all year round, always texas rigged except i use split shots for weights. Just tested out the fake lizard/gecko for the first time today and I got nice results.
  19. So I have this fake lizard/gecko in my tackle box (I have a real gecko as a pet, when he dies, hopefully not for a few years he might end up on the end of a hook, anyway..) I pulled it out today (just recently bought it) it's plastic/rubber and has a ribbed body. . 2nd cast I pulled in the attached pic, 16 inches. Rigged it up with a small split shot, texas rigged just so it's weedless. I have a thing with 4 different sizes and I used the 2nd biggest one just to make it sink a bit quicker. #1 try these things out, they work. #2 Am i rigging this right? or would you do it differently?
  20. Yea, like I said it looked just like a largemouth, same mouth, dorsal fin was not connected
  21. Appreciate the help, so it was either a spotted or a largemouth.
  22. Well that adds to the mystery then..
  23. Like bass teeth but sharper and spikier. drew blood on my thumb.
  24. Obviously the one in the picture is, but even if it does not have a stripe and it is a slightly lighter shade is it still a largemouth? Maybe a hybrid of some sort?
  25. Not a walleye. Have caught walleye before.
