  1. I was fishing from the bank for bass, hooked into one and had a gator come out of no where and steal it off my line about 5 feet from the shore. Big gator too.
  2. Thinking about going with a buddy on a bass fishing trip down to Florida. My only concern is the gator issue. For those of you that live down there, how often do you run into them while you're fishing, and is the possibility of them attacking you while fishing something to be worried about? I'm deathly afraid of those things, had a bad experience with one of them on spring break in Orlando a few years back.
  3. Pike bit the tail straight off my senko today, took me a few minutes to digest what happened, lol.
  4. I've always read that once a bass is caught the odds of that same fish being caught again is 50% less. Not really a healing question, but i've read that somewhere.
  5. So I was fishing my normal spot yesterday with a 7 inch senko and was getting no bites, went at it with 2 different colored senkos and some other fake crawlers and got nothing. Moved to a different spot and put a senko back on texas rigged and tried a different method. Instead of pulling the rod tip up to move it and letting it sink, I would just jerk the reel. Example: Reel (quick) half a rotation, stop, half a rotation, stop, half a rotation, stop. I got hits on it, but couldn't land anything as they were small or i was pulling it out of their mouths, here's what happened. I was 3 feet from the shore and just pulling my senko out of the water to re cast, out of no where this absolute HOG attempts to grab my lure. He comes out of the water and lands back in sideways, this was the biggest bass i've ever seen in person. Literally thought about suicide for not leaving my senko in the water for 2 more seconds... Anyway, just wanted to share with ya'll that new method. It seemed to work for getting bites/interest in it when the usual method doesn't work. Anyone else work it like this before?
  6. I dont wacky rig, no thanks. I've never had an issue with getting bites/catching fish using a texas rigged senko/crawler, just having a slight issue setting the hook. Too risky around here to fish anything weedless, you're going to lose it
  7. Biggest small mouth i've caught was out of the Grand River up here. Real nice fishing, you just have to know where to go. There's a spot I hit off the shore by a boat dock, there's a huge drop off 10 feet from the bank where all the fish sit. Real nice spot. There's a little creek that leaks right into the river nearby as well, which cools the water down and what not.
  8. Personally, im glad to see that fish released.
  9. Those fins will mess you up dude, be careful. I was hooking into a bunch of small catfish early in the season behind my house in a small pond using crawlers, started wearing gloves after i kept getting poked.
  10. Then that's what it is.
  11. I wait for the line to go tight to set the hook, that's what ive always done with fake crawlers and it's always worked before. I'm using a big senko (i believe 7 inches, might be bigger) and using a big hook (not sure the size, but the hook is always texas rigged and the point is right in the middle of the senko
  12. Well being a 20 year old, I was raised with technology/smartphones/ect, so im going to leave those off. Honestly I wouldnt go without my cigarettes.
  13. So used some senko's for the first time the other day, caught a few nice fish but had a few bigger ones get away. I attempted to set the hook like I always do, however it wasn't working like it normally does with other softplastics/fake crawlers. Always texas rig and have never had a problem until the other day with the senkos.
  14. Thinking of ordering a few of these, has anyone had any luck with em?
  15. So then why do so many law enforcement officers get so pissy when you enforce your rights? I've had a few runs ins, and have expressed my rights at the fullest extent. During those times the law enforcement officers were extremely pissy. Also, I watch a good amount of youtube videos..take those as great examples.
  16. If you're ever interested in selling i'd be interested, especially if you're willing to let them go cheaper than the originals do. PM me
  17. My grandfather once met Bill Dance in Tennessee. He has a picture with him somewhere.
  18. I've been curious about this but can't find anything online with a definitive answer, Can a regular law enforcement officer who is not DNR ask you for your fishing license?
  19. 10000% Dusk here. Have never had as good of results fishing in the morning as I have had at night.
  20. Lets not turn this into a political debate.
  21. I would actually feel bad about them being illegals and me being the one who is getting them more than likely deported. I would feel pretty bad about that. As I would feel bad if I got someone in trouble who was fishing to feed their family. Still illegal, but I would still feel somewhat bad.
  22. Kind of a subtobic but the same subject, can you guys give me any tips for fishing in a windy day? it was pretty windy today and I got skunked in a spot where I usually hit huge bass. Tips?
  23. Sure, the place I fish most of the time, and what I have been fishing lately is a man made gravel pit/lake that connects to the grand river. Go look in my introduction post, there is a link via google maps that shows you. The water is pretty murky, with a lot of cover and it's pretty weedy when fishing from shore (what I mostly do) A lot of bait fish as i see them swimming near shore all the time, and i've also caught a lot of panfish out of this spot as well. I am trying to mimic the food source, but i've found that fake crawlers work much better than fake baitfish/minnows.
  24. Just got skunked at my hot spot. The area i fish is a runoff/lake from the Grand River, and the river has been going down and this spot has felt the effects. Spot I usually catch hogs in gave nothing today. Frustrated..
  25. Can't beat the crawler. I've caught nice blue gill on crawlers up here. Biggest one i've caught was on a crawler actually
