  1. Hi, I am going to sell my 597c HD DI unit. It was used for a month on my boat when I found a great deal on a bigger boat. I have never installed on my new boat. It came with electronics on it already. I'm not looking to get rich off of it. I just took a quick look around a little to see ho much they go for used. If you want to do the same, we can work out a price in PM?
  2. Thanks everyone. I went through Bob today and got a Progressive policy. Not much more than SF was charging me but higher agreed value on the boat, motor, and trailer, roadside assistance on the boat and truck pulling the boat, and new for old replacement for partial loss accidents. Sounded good, so I bit.
  3. Just wanted to share my feedback. After a few weeks of fishing with these, I am hooked. What a great combo. I even went back and got a 4th with a heavy rod. They cast great, are light, have very smooth mechanics, and seem to be a great value. I've never used a high end Shimano so I don't know what a $300+ reel feels like but I can't imagine much better feeling that this one has. The combo price makes it a hard one to pass up.
  4. After a week of comparing quotes and policies, I am going to go with Bob and Progressive on Monday. They offered a higher agreed value on my boat, trailer, and motor, and I like the fact that they offer new for old replacement. State Farm did not offer that. IE> If I lose my lower unit from something in the water causing it, State Farm would send me a check for $1500 minus my deductible. The Progressive policy would pay for a new lower unit. Sounds like Bob is trustworthy and will stand by you through any claim. Anyone have feedback on Progressive? Sounds like a good plan.
  5. Waiting to hear back from them. I have the original Evinrude trolling motor still on my boat and it is great. With the way it's designed, I wanted to be sure the troll perfect would work on it. The Evinrud does not have a straight arm. It has an offset to it.
  6. Ok. That is exactly what I am seeing. Working with Bob also for a quote. They say there are companies that will insure it and include new for old replacement options for things like something in the water tearing up the motor.
  7. Slonezp, Your State Farm policy is full replacement? I am getting mine setup now with State Farm and they are telling me its not full replacement. My boat is a 1997 model and they are pricing the 150hp Evinrude Intruder at $1500. Are you saying your policy would covert that motor for full replacement at todays retail prices?
  8. I think that 5 - 8k price range is a good spot. You can find some really nice boats there. I suggest not falling in love with any of them. Make a list of what you really want in a boat and keep on it until you find that. There are LOTS of boats for sale and more selling every month. I jumped in early and paid 2K for a 15.5 ft Tidecraft Spitfire XL. Fun boat but way too small for me. I sat down and thought about exactly what I wanted. I loved the Stratos boats so I began searching. I found a 97 285PE that had been garage kept and well maintained with a jack plate, new prop, hot foot, etc. He asked 7K and I paid him $6500. I feel it was well worth the price for the shape this boat was in for its age. Nobody that sees it believes it when I tell them its a 1997. You can get great boats in the range you mention. Good luck with it.
  9. Thank you. I was going to remove the whole panel across the front of the boat so I could get to all the wiring to remove the old fish finder and install my newer one.
  10. Took these out for a test today and WOW. They performed great. The only time I had trouble was throwing the KVD 1.5 square bill stuff with one of these. I think its just a bit light for my talent level. The heavier stuff was much easier to cast.
  11. Hi, I have the normal seat bases in my boat. They are non threaded. I bought an adjustable seat pedestal with a pro casting seat. I noticed it has a locking type end on it. Will that get stuck in my normal seat base I use it? That's the only one basspro had that adjusted that was just a post. If its going to get stuck, can it be removed from the pedestal?
  12. The general message I got was that there are a few good brands and any of those will work good. Most people use a 3 or 4 for normal baits and then a 4 or 5 offset for larger worms like the 10+inch ones.
  13. I'm new too. Hope this link helps you. I asked almost the same question. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/121814-which-hook-do-you-use-for-bass-fishing-with-plastic-worms/
  14. Hi, I'm going to be replacing my fish finder tonight. Looking a the old one, the wires are routed behind the front control console. I looked at it and it appears to have small pins sort of like the door panels in a car. I see 4 in the middle of the console and then there is also one on the far end as it rounds the bow and comes to an end. I took some vinyl pry tools and gave a little pressure on the corner ones(not in the pic) and they did not see to budge. before I possibly go too far, I thought I would post here to see if I am doing this right. Anyone have advice? I think that's how the black frame console is held in place and then each individual switch plate screws into it. I have a snapshot to show the 4 in the corners of the center of the console.

My boat. I upgraded from the 15.5 ft to this 18.5. Much happier now.
  17. Thanks everyone. I am taking them out on Saturday for their first trip but I played around with a practice weight in the yard last night. These reels feel great and seem to cast very well.
  18. Sorry. The pic was just the reels. They came on Carbonite rods(micro.) That's $99 for the reel and $119 for the rod. The combo was $179. $159 for the non micro combo.
  19. Have you guys had any experience with these? They are more pricey, but they are small and look like an easy replacement solution. http://www.amazon.com/Shoreline-Marine-8-Inch-Strip-Light/dp/B00BNTZGP6/ref=pd_sim_sg_5
  20. Hey Guys, great thread. My boat already has lights in most compartments but they are dim. I think I am going to tap into those wires and run LEDs and leave the old lights disconnected.
  21. I almost got the cranking stick. The combo pricing on the carbonite rod and pro q reel swayed me a bit. I've been in BP so much recently that I have come to know the guys there quite well. One of them in particular has been extremely helpful and he told me that Pflueger made the reels for them.
  22. The seats you just linked are great. I bought them for my last boat and they provided way more support than the original seats. They have a hard frame throughout the seat. Lots of other seats have metal hinges and support that only go up a portion of the back support. When they end, the rest of the back is prone to give some and lean back. I hated that. I just bought the basspro pro Casting seats today and will be trying them out this weekend. I tested them in the boat this afternoon and they felt great. I got the grey ones in this style. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Point-Man-Pedestal-Boat-Seats/product/10210439/
  23. I pulled the trigger today and bought 3 of the Pro Qualifier reels and 3 BassPro Carbonlite rods. 3x 6.4 reels 1 6'9 MH Micro Rod 1 7' M Micro Rod 1 7' MH Micro Rod From the reading I have been doing here, Those sounded like a heck of a deal for $179 each($159 for non micro). Playing around with them tonight in the yard, they seem to cast very well and feel like really good stuff. Can't wait to hit the lake this weekend. Do you guys think this is a fairly good setup? Anything missing? I plan on using the 7 ft Medium one for crankbaits and the other 2 for worm. One Tx and one NC setup. I have a spinning rod/reel from Abu Garcia that I plan to use for skipping/jigging. I have another spinning rod/reel from Pflueger(triton) than I plan to use for drop shots. A Pflueger baitcaster(Purist) on a Allstar MH 6'6 that I will use for my spinner baits I guess. And finally a Pinnacle Obsession combo 6.6 MH that I will probably just keep in the boat for now. I'm guessing this is the lowest quality one I own but I actually like it and can cast if better than the others so far. I may just set it up for topwater early morning fishing or something.
