  1. Oh no I definitely do not mind the bluntness. I was just having a hard time understanding why there are so many drownings in the "summer time" because I definitely realize the effects of hypothermia at other times. I appreciate the responses. Many of these Ontario lakes are shallow with lots of stumps and rocks hovering close to the surface. Thanks to these posts I now understand the danger even if I am only operating an 8hp-15hp boat.
  2. I'm just wondering if the majority of boating deaths are caused from the motor hitting something and the passengers being ejected. Is this what happens?
  3. If I am boating in a small aluminum boat with a 8hp motor and I hit a big rock or stump with my propeller will the motor rip off of the boat or will the passengers fly out of the boat? I'm curious because I never wear a lifejacket when I am cruising from spot to spot on calm small waters. Maybe I should though if accidents like this can toss the boaters unconscious out of the boat into the water.
  4. Still fishing for catfish with a blue plastic worm.
  5. It's been a long time since I have posted on the these forums but I remember when you first wrote that post RoadWarrior. I must thank you because since that time the Fat Ika has been my number one bass bait in Ontario! I find this bait way more productive than the senko.
  6. So if I am fishing and switching from a heavy spinnerbait to a light crankbait there is no problem with me just adjusting the cast control knob looser like I normally do. No need in me switching the VBS if I don't feel I need to?
  7. Usually I set my VBS at neutral (half on half off) with my shimano reels and as I switch from differing weighted lures "I only manipulate the cast control knob." I've never had a problem with this before and have been very happy with my limited backlashes. I just bought a new Citica and was talking to the salesman. He said it was vital that when I change lure weights that I also change VBS settings. Is this true? Is it like a must? I do not understand why I must do this if the cast control knob seems to be doing the trick.
  8. I usually fish freshwater but used my curado 2 year old Curado in saltwater for a week on vacation. Not sure if that wasn't a smart move. Anyways the button I push down to release the line was jammed for some reason. I foolishly decided to push on it hard to see if that would fix the problem. It didn't. Now when I push the button, it doesn't click open and closed. There is no tension or clickling when I push the button. For this reason when I reel the spool doesn't move. What have I done? And how much does this cost to repair usually? :'(
  9. Sorry this has been done to death but i couldn't search it for some reason. If I want one hook that will work well with all three should it be a #5 Wide Gap?
  10. How was the officer being a *****? He was doing his job. You were the one who made the mistake of going out without the license. How long would it have taken you to buy a license before your fishing trip that day? probably just a few minutes. I say good job to that officer for doing his job. Here in Missouri our licenses can be purchased on the 1st of March and are good all the way until Feb. 28th (or 29th). First of March every year the first thing I go do is plop down my $11 on the counter at Walmart for my 1 yr. license. There was no place open at 6am. Obviously I should have bought it the day before but I was not sure if I was going. He was a ***** because instead of just giving me the ticket he felt he had the right to judge me.
  11. I got caught without a license the morning of bass opener in Ontario a few years back at 7am (last saturday in June). I just did not buy it yet and planned to buy one after I went fishing that day. The conservation officer was a ***** though.
  12. For Crankbaits...I say you get all the dt's in different depths and get some husky jerks.
  13. Yeah I say just give him a name and enjoy is company. Whenever I go golfing I love seeing these little guys in the ponds. They are so cute except for their tails that make you queezy.
