  1. Thank you for your service A-Jay Yeah it was a big joke until the feds started cracking the whip. Some had their circle of communication and would actually toss fish overboard when the feds approached them. No pity for them, once they got caught. The EEZ is needed to protect the stocks. It hurts my coastal area when they head south ,lots of them are 5 to 15 miles off shore. I guess your socked in snow by now.I was on the sweet water today catchin pickerel and one bass.Love it here in the winter. C22
  2. The old record of approx. 51 lbs will stand the challenge of a potential new record of 62 lbs . On the day the 62 was caught ,the DNR had stopped the boat in forbidden water to posses or c & r stripers on the coast .FYI ,it is illegal to target ,c & r,or posses stripers further off the coast than 3 miles in the EEZ. There was a discrepancy about when, where the monster was caught so the record was denied. A heart breaker no doubt ,but rules are rules . C22
  3. NIce slam, now your talkin my kind of fishing. C22
  4. Until I changed meds,I used to some serious leg cramps from the knees to groin. They rate right there with kidney stones ,but don`t last as long. The culprit med was Lipitor
  5. I had one bad one another not so bad. Mid summer ,throwing up, sweating profusely, barely able to drive to the hospital. For those who had not had any stones, imagine having one of your nuts crushed in a vise. Yeah, its that bad.
  6. Moms are always special, I`m sorry for your loss. C22
  7. Thank you for all the kind replies. It was by far the worst trying year of my life.I have lots of support from friends and family to help me through. I have to start fishing again. C22
  8. My wife was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer after an operation in August a year ago. From there it was infusion after infusion and feeling bad to feeling really bad, then repeat over and over.It was hell on earth for both of us,her suffering and me watching helplessly. She passed recently and it has me wondering what to do next. We did achieve our 50th anniversary ,it was bitter sweet. Knowing what I know now I would not suggest that anyone with stage 4 cancer take those treatments, but live the best life they could with the proper medicine and eventually enter Hospice as my wife did.Just guessing ,but I feel that she could have had several months of a decent life instead of the suffering she went through for so long. Of course its all about personal decisions when one is faced with cancer. There are cancer survivors of course, but keep in mind this is about stage 4 cancer. C22
  9. Awesome catchin
  10. I love mushrooms smothered in steak
  11. Great looking place . Enjoy. I`d like to stop over and split a sixer on that back porch. C22
  12. We parallel in thought. I would rather fish in coveralls than in shorts.
  13. If the rest of your family is in Oregon I think I understand.
  14. Yup,I remember all except the queen/day show.I go back to the Mickey Mouse show featuring the Spin and Marty series. Lest we forget the Howdy Doody show and Gene Autry, Roy Rogers and Flash Gordon. How about Sky King. How about when TV's went blank after playing the Star Spangled Banner about 11PM. TV repair men would make house visits as did Dr`s,milk and bread men.Wow=I am old I watched McGyver last nite. They don`t have me onboard yet. I think the original show was more realistic. A few of my friends call me McGyver. This day of information has destroyed about 90% of my "secret fishing holes" The only real privacy I have anymore is fishing the dead of winter. We even have a local writer that is pushing that now.He tries to milk me from time to time and I give him my best Shultz impression==="I know nothing"
  15. Thanks for all the replies. Lots of them I know to be true.I wish I could stand the heat/humidity better. Not ready to make a move yet,but I`ll be fishing where ever it is. Again thanks C22
  16. Are they good for only one trip?
  17. I`m only interested in distilling mouthwash Didn`t see any regs on that. Those who don`t want to be public about a still can PM me:]
  18. I have had lots of spare time lately due to a home situation.I was thinking about making a still. Anyone here ever do it with any success. How much $$$$$ was invested? Thanks C22
  19. I cringe to look at that pic.Every year I do battle with baggies to save my trees. Hold a lighter to the end of the bag===they come out.Hard to beat a piece of nite crawler for panfish.Bloodworms catch just about everything too[very messy]
  20. LMAO,love the decryption, didn`t interrupt my pizza and beer though
  21. I have to say that I`m getting fed up with the overall attitude of people here on the east coast. The last two times I became unhappy with my location ===I moved. I`m getting that feeling again. The trouble this time is that I`m addicted to salt fishing and don`t want to do without an ocean, but I also love the sweet water too. In your opinion, where to go to find a better class of people. Thanks C22
  22. I usually go thru $80 of LC`s per winter. Worst loss===I broke 5 rods when I jumped into my boat to load just before a lightning thunder storm. Do lower units count? Price goes way up on those! C22
  23. Wow tough life with even more tough ending. I always liked the show. I spent time in Oregon watching and listening to some of the logging operations, not for sissies.
  24. OK true. When I was about 7 yrs old ,I came across a opossum playing dead close to dark, I surprised it. So I kicked it ,rolled it over, hit it with a stick===nothing, it was true to its name===========UNTIL,I whipped out my trusty Zippo lighter and held to its nose. About 20 seconds of that convinced it to abandon the tradition of playing dead. It snorted and waddled away. Kids ! Yeah theyr`e not cute C22
  25. Looks like a fantastic trip.In general how were the people over there.?
