  1. No flu shots for me. Cold & runny nose for a month now====very unusual for me. I become a hermit in the winter to stay away from people. I have excellent health care which can actually work against my wife and I sometime.Once they see a cash cow like my policy, they issue every test and procedure they can think of. Not really a complaint, just a little irritating sometime. Obviously better than none at all. I like my doctor, but he is making me nervous by insisting on a prostate exam every visit.[smiley] C22
  2. Catch 22

    Hookset

    That boy done inhaled to much tire smoke Scientists say that bumble bees can`t fly, but I`m bettin everything that the Boomer doesn`t ever lift off.lmao C22
  3. I`m with the skinny water redfish gang. Very close to salt water bass fishing. Tough call to put reds ahead of stripers . C22
  4. That skinny line drives me crazy. I usually manage to break a lure off about 6 times while trying to clinch it. Just to heavy handed no doubt. I really like 15 lb PP Slick 8 with a 6 lb floro leader. I`m usually fishing tidal colored water. I don`t like floats, but sometime its the way to go. C22
  5. Both records are awesome. The old pickerel record stood for 39 years. Just curious ,is that water public. Also to note that the LMB record was broken recently from a private pond. Not to sound sinister, but I don`t agree with records being allowed from private waters. C22
  6. Yup,I just had to open it. Great show. I`m surprised the average weight isn`t higher.
  7. Tooo funny,glad my coffee was finished,that would have been a "spit take" Females are the ones that no one or other species should get near or even talk to for about a week each month. They have a silver rattle trap hanging on their head and are looking for a match.
  8. I met him at the Harrisburg show long ago ,what a character and nice fellow. RIP
  9. PA=DE=MD=VA=NJ=NY=NC=SC=FL=OR====ONTARIO
  10. Rough count boat==11 pond==15
  11. Pond ,whats the boat going to be worth 15 yrs down the road. Virtually nothing next to a property. Where ya gonna live if you go boat===rent? No returns on rent. I`d rather sit on my own porch,prop my feet up and have a cold one while admiring my pond rather than trying to remember how good that boat looked when it was new. Lots of variables here ,don`t rush in C22
  12. Some colors react differently to heat. Its trial error. I purchased a $35 propane plumbers torch from Lowes and love it. It self ignites and has a hold button.I place it in a workbench vise for work. It mounts on a 2 pound bottle that should last well over a year doing jigs. Very handy for other projects too. Buy a cheap toaster oven to cure heads. Many times I can heat the head, dip it and blow the paint from the eye before it sets up. I use so many heads that I seldom cure them. C22
  13. Well after several hrs of non catching,I changed locations in a hurry only to run aground and mess up the trim/tilt unit by blowing a seal. No big deal I could still navigate. I then attempted a really long hard cast that resulted in snagging a relatively new rod/reel and tossing it overboard into fast moving water. I lost an hour searching=======forget about it.Still no fish after hours so I stayed and stayed. Now the big hurt. About dark I hooked and landed a huge striper right at 40 lbs[yes fourty]. I decided to go home instead of weighing this fish at the tackle shop that night that was way out of the way. Being in the running tournament at that shop, I took the fish over the next morning. It fell 1/4 lb short of taking third place that was worth $1000. I`m certain it lost more than that overnight. One more that just happened. I needed to replace my safety meteor flares for the boat[mandatory] . Off to Wally World to see a picture of them on the hook where they would be if they have any, @ $22. Didn`t see any so I went to the local marine dealer where they cost $33. A week later I get a photo finish ticket for running a red light for $112 while heading to said dealer. Forward to today==at Wally World again to buy another set of flares for the second boat,the picture is still there and upon reading it a little closer it stated to "ask for assistance" .I did and the clerk told me they are a controlled item under lock/key AND that they always have plenty of them ,apparently the first time I was there too.So one more butt kickin I got. One set cost $145 and the other $22 GGGrr C22
  14. Good advise to flip rocks to look for the critters. Crawfish are nocturnal to a great degree, so go searching the shallows for them at night with a good light. When my kids were little we used to see how many could be spotted after dark. It can be surprising what else you might see at night , like eels, snakes, minnows and large fish close to shore. Good point about the night crawlers in lakes.The kids and I fished a shoal about a mile offshore in Ontario years ago. The smallies couldn`t get enough of them. C22
  15. 1/8 oz black hair jigs in slack water eddies.
  16. Yep me too,I have a coupla his cd`s about worn out. C22
  17. Sometime when I have time,I will stretch them out and hold them on the phone as long as possible. Other times I will lay out some of the most vile language and expressions that come to mind. What ever you do ,don`t try to logic with them. If you cooperate and do what they say, your puter will lock up tight and you will be held financial hostage. You may or may not ever get it back to normal. That happened to a naive friend of a friend C.22
  18. Fish are not the only cause of the demise of the eels. Foreign markets pay the ridiculous sum of $2000 + per pound of elvers[baby eels]. They make their way to fresh water feeding grounds in the spring and are very predictable when and where to catch them. Just about all herring species are illegal to possess on the east coast now, mainly due to comm overfishing.. C22
  19. I suspect that bass eat lots of eels where they are available. That's why worms work so well imo. Eels will go up the smallest of streams to get into ponds and ditches.They were in my pond yrs ago that had a very small stream close by but didn`t run thru it. C22
  20. I used to live in south eastern Pa around 1970. I used to kill two bird limits often without a dog. And then no till farming took hold. Within about 6 years the birds diminished to almost nothing and never recovered. Of course urban sprawl took its toll,but some of those areas are unchanged to this day and still void of birds. C22
  21. I too have reached an impass. I went to Gander Mt & Dicks recently and spent only $15. I lost two LC`s today so I now have a mission, whoopee===I think C22
  22. As said already, small waters big problems. They are very mobile too insomuch as moving from one pond to another,usually at night. C22
  23. First time to get drunk that is.I was 12 yrs old and still happy to ride my bike everywhere. The small town I was raised in had just commemorated a new playground with everyone in attendance. Two kegs of beer where left unattended because all the adults were engaged in a softball game. A few of us kids helped ourselves to some cold ones.An hour later I thought it was a good idea to get a large vanilla ice cream.It was not,because shortly I was rolling on the ground talkin to mr rourk.I told my parents I ate a tainted hot dog .Dad was suspicious, but Mom bought it. C22
  24. I just wish all would drop that stupid 9 tenths/cent from the price no matter what it is.
  25. Last summer in the Thousand Islands area we had a fellow fisherman along that knew how to bone out northern pike.We went to a local eatery that would deep fry them and serve a salad for $9.00. The pike was as good as any fish I have tasted. Pike= pickerel direct cousins ===I tried pickerel once before ,but failed to debone it properly which made for a troublesome meal. After watching several utube how to vids, I put two more under the knife and did rather well. We deep fried them in House Autry med hot breading and they were real yummy. I don`t plan to target pickerel to eat but once in a while they suck in a jerk bait beyond retrieval with out killing them, so I will now invite them home for dinner. C22
