  1. I had friends that lost their house to uncontrolled gambling. Their rich aunt passed, left a small fortune to them and they lost that too.. We hit the casinos once a month or so just for fun. SO one nite I had to show my wife the merits of drinking beer.I was done with the slots and ordered a beer.Just then she shows up ready to leave.I said hold on ,sit here and play this fishing related slot while I finish my beer.Long story short, she wins a little over $400 waiting for me. Power Ball Win==I would get me some new teeth, new glasses, new hair and a good hearing aid. Next I would buy a gross of Viaga pills ,hire a full time medical team to to travel with me on the road to Vegas.
  2. Twenty yrs ago I designed and built a 2 acre pond. Depth was 3' to 12'. It was spring & stream fed via 2 pvc pipes. The stream did not run thru it. Before it was filled with water ,I dug 2 trenches 3' deeper than surrounding bottom at a couple locations.Several weighted brush piles, several dirt mounds with rocks and cinder blocks on them were the main structure. A manure spreader was towed in and placed upside down. For you I would suggest the cinder blocks & rock piles. Possibly something that would present overhead cover such as a table Maybe some upright Christmas trees. Coupla things==remove some of those little bass.Stock bluegills, frogs & shinners. Don`t stock any smallmouth bass, they will not do well.Keep a close eye on the cat tails and limit their growth.Keep the geese off of them. Can`t help ya with the snagless thing. C22
  3. Thanks for the replies.I figured that maybe one or two old slimers might have been on the scene with me. To mention. Al lindner won the Va T by fishing Christmas trees off of private docks. Junior Samples was there. Fliptail made worms Blakemore was in business. I met Billy Westmoreland Charlie Brewer sliders were hot 150 HP was max, nets were OK.I was a rider all three days. First time in a fast boat Rebel also made trolling motors. C22
  4. I have seen a few times that some would bites fairly soon, like a few hours.I broke a jig off in a 3 lb smallie and 2hrs later there it was with my jig still hanging. I ask the question because if someone is prefishing a tourney, how much lead time would be needed to catch those fish again.[probably not with the same type lure]. No doubt it might controlled by the weather and season. C22
  5. I use a Sony HDR-AS15. Overall very happy with it.120 &170 angles. It makes an excellent copy, still or action. About $160 on Amazon. C22
  6. A limit is a state of mind used to massage the ego. C22
  7. Nice day here about 60 deg air. Lotta bass boats out today. Tide water=Wt 39 deg ,good vis. Most anglers were drop shotting. I was after crappies. Several different lures and colors netted about 20 for me, all released .Best lure was a 2"Fin S Fish char/glitter. I transferred to a pond and nicked 2 pickerel @ 22' & 19" With a few more warm days like this one the bass will turn on too. C22
  8. First time on Kinzua Lake ,Pa. I was fishing southward from Willow Bay and doing well. The water was being draw down for the winter so things were popping out of the water that normally were well covered.I returned just right at dark to find some people at the ramp asking for help. They told me there boat was disabled about a mile north, could I help retrieve it.Off we go into the darkness into strange water with minimal light.I`m running about half throttle, maybe 20 mph,and I get an image of some sort shoot past really close on my right side. I shut down ,but not before the boat ran almost completely up on a rock bar.The image I saw was two massive tree stumps. It took every thing the two of us had to float the boat again.. About a mile and half later we found the boat and towed it in.At the ramp the guy admitted that he ran out of gas.I wasn`t fit to be near after that and explained that he should get outta my sight. Lesson learned ==don`t boat in strange water after dark. Question those who ask for help to see if they really need it. Iv`e seen the line floating in the air thing with heavy static electric present. That actually puts one close to death. I was caught in an on water hail storm once.It felt like being shot with marbles from a sling shot . Got caught on Lake Erie and could not navigate back into Presqisle Bay.Hid in the marina next door til my bud retrieved the trailer.. Almost died in the mouth of the Indian River Inlet,De in a 14' tin boat one foggy morn. Just a darn good thing I know how to run a boat in bad water. C22
  9. Never tried it ,but yak hair looks good. Check thru this site to see some smallie type jigs https://www.google.com/search?q=yak+hair+fishing&biw=1120&bih=559&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=aSfWVKaoFYHugwT8lYDQAg&sqi=2&ved=0CCQQsAQ
  10. Wow after looking at the picture tour on this site I want to fish Hartwell. http://www.bassmaster.com/slideshow/2015-bassmaster-classic-location-revealed Will the water level be that low. C 22
  11. Long ago I became interested in a small stream in southeastern Pa when a co worker showed me a pic of a 5.2 #smallie that he caught in an area that I had driven across XXX times but never wet a line in it. He said he weighted it and the pic justified his claim. The size of the stream was such that a moderate cast would cross it anywhere. I began wet wading it after work a few times each week.1 to 1-1/2 pounders were the norm with an ocassional fish above 2#.Virtually un fished, that water had some of the horniest smallies I had ever encountered. There was about 15 to 20 miles to chose from, so it went unmolested until the local B & T got wind of it.You can guess the rest of the story. Even though they had no big water to retreat to,finding them in the winter was difficult, but I wasn`t the angler then as now. Small spinner baits were best, with tubes and twisters making a decent showing. Times were more simple then. C 22
  12. Mainebass==It is a shame that this show is giving viewers the opinion there are only small fish in Maine what is===That's a good image to have unless you have a business.Think about it. what is===Boring sometime, yes ,but it beats re runs of Hogans Heros what is===Its a numbers game with a time deficit to try for the cows. O man,I have to lay off Jepardy Who is=== C 22
  13. Amazingly New York reduced the non res lic form $73 down to $50 +a full year from date of purchase. More states should do the full year thing. In times past I declined to buy with only a few months before expiration in Dec. Md has an eye for eye policy for non res. What ever the buyers home state charges non res is what is paid. There is a minimum of $30.50 no matter. Lots of states have a one time charge for a senior pass for parks and ramps. The feds have a Golden Age pass for age 62+. At $10 its a bargain. C22
  14. Skeeter,I happen to know a little about De money distribution. They are mandated by law to spend on average 21 to 22% of license income dollars on non tidal projects. Overall I give them failing marks on what they do with the money. The percentage is determined by how many people say yes, they fish fresh water. It would be wise not to speak of that. C22
  15. I spend $125 for three different states and I duck another $50 because of senior exemptions. I may add another $50 if I decide to go for one more state. Ramp fees are likely add another $100 or more. I like the states that give an actual full year from date of purchase. How much do you spend ,or do you want to know. C22
  16. These are 1/8" aluminum with bright tape on them so I can find them and to protect the hands.
  17. I wasn`t sure where to post this but they do live in my tackle box. Very handy for removing hooks, patricularly deep ones. Often times they work better than pliers. Just push the v notch into the bend of the hook ,push and turn [if needed]. Easy and cheap to make. The largest one is about 12" long usually for salt water critters. The small one is great for crappies. Darn,I can`t get the pic to copy in.Maybe in the morning
  18. I have fished fresh and salt extensively and having to choose one over the other would be an impossible task for me. My roots are fresh water bassin and that put my skills above the average salt angler in times past. The I-net is changing that. Easy! I have engaged stupid easy catching in both waters and am greatful for both. Right now I`m happy to catch a few crappies, its all relative. As stated already, the OP indicated that he needs more pullage.I think some good suggestions arose here. C22
  19. It is interesting that you said that about the crabs. We call them sand fleas on the east coast and they are a very popular bait for reds, stripers, trout, pompano and in particular tog[tau taug] I use an aluminum basket on a long handle to catch them.$5.00 a quart at the b & t shops.
  20. Yes on the rod standards and I would like to add hook sizes too A test lab that would certify line sizes and tensile strength. Heated gloves that are powered by generators in your boots. A little foot action to warm up the feet and hands Motorized plug that could swim back under docks and tree branches Rather B ,that is some funny stuff ,thanks
  21. Absolutely Game won then lost in the last 30 seconds.
  22. Catch 22

    Drones???

Legal ramifications IKE hacked KVD`s signals and beat him to the spot?== Or jams his signals electronically Or causes his drone to crash thusly cutting off a huge bass right at the boat Or flies a drone with a razor blade tail hook to cut fishing lines off The possibilities are endless. Just say NO to drones
  23. Aside from snagless hooks, unbreakable rods that are sensitive air knotless braid, what would you like to see developed/invented. How about a jerk bait with a spring mechanism inside that would set in place and vibrate or shake for 2 or 3 seconds. It would recharge each time it was jerked. Maybe live fishing advice from a pro. Your on a lake having a tough time so you ring up a pro, give him the location, conditions, pan a live shot of the area with your camera and he gives advice on the next move to try. Sound far fetched? I doubt I would use the service. How about rod companies start putting rod tips on that don`t have the external brace that braid ties knots around.I know they are now available so why not use them. A tackle box that would refuse to close if you put to much weight in it. We all know of Hot Hands . Put them into true glove form, fingers and all,not just a pouch. Spool charts to tell how much mono fill to put under braid A knotless fusion device to join braid & mono/floro Lets hearum C22
  24. Long ,long ago I entered 3 Ray Scott BASS invitational tourneys. 1977 Virgiana Lake Anna-also ran 1978 New York Thousands Islands placed 35 th of 300 1979 New York Thousands Islands -also ran. I entered one other t on Seneca Lake ,NY.A good friend called to tell I would probably die because of extreme wind water that time of year.I dropped out of it and half the boats could not make it back to weight in because of bad water. My bud was right. $300 entry fees good payout for the times.I purchased A new Hydra Sport/150 Evinrude with Merc thruster t motor for $8500. Ha, can`t even get a motor for that now. Marginal depth finders, braid wasn`t invented yet like many more things we now take for granted. We stayed right next door to Hank Parker at the North Star motel,Alexandria Bay ,NY in 78. Tom Mann got arrested in Ontario for out of season fishing.Dee Thomas was perfecting his flipping method.Jimmy Houston had perfected his wrist twisting shot gun cast.Rick Clunn got close to hitting my boat at 65mph when he passed me.Roland Martin was so far ahead of the field on the 3rd day,he was spotted sitting down eating lunch at 11 am.A last minute court order prevented the first ever female for participating the t. Can`t recall the fellow that oversaw the t`s for Scott==Harold Sharp, maybe, the warden if you will. I met lots of the current heros and rising stars of the fishing world and feel I got my monies worth. I fished many Redman t`s that used to pay well.Kinda got away from the t`s to raise a family ,build a house ect. I`ll bet there are some others here that fished BASS t`s maybe even to oppose me. Who are you? C22
  25. Here are a few of the hand tie crappies on 1/16 heads. They like the olive/or real good
