  1. How true. I have released smallies in 7' of gin clear water and watched them go straight to the bottom and vanish.
  2. 10/4 on Petty.I always hit it when in the area. After work in S Phila I would take the boat up to the Arsenal ramp. There was some nice structure just below the ramp.I don`t know how the catching would be now with the lower striper populations. C22
  3. Fish like those are still in my future WTG
  4. Awesome catch and report. I would barter away some serious stuff to be on a trip like that right now.
  5. I used to target the schoolies from the Racoon Creek up to north Phila. The back water cove just north of the Barry bridge used to be good as well as the bridge its self.I used to throw plastics really close to the pilings, like 6" close.Don`t know if homeland security would let you in close now days? The highline tower just below the bridge, NJ side was fun too.Good shoals above there too.Rock jetty and islands too Jerk baits,6" sluggos on jig heads & grubs all worked well. C22
  6. Catch 22

    Tubes?

Push some cotton into your tubes and squirt your favorite scent into it. A flavor saver of sorts. Gitzits,Cabin Creek and Rite Bites are good by me. C22
  7. " And, we learned the family oriented Bass Pro Shops started in a liqueur store! Classic Americanism" Everybody knows that. [straight line]
  8. A few yrs back I was fishing the John Day River,Or where 206 crosses it.There were cockbirds cackling and flying all over the hay fields . It revived some memories for me. C22
  9. Often I can be seen with Tingley`s 9" rubber over boot. Light weight pull on provides some additional warmth ,good to about 40 deg with sneakers.====Put a plastic shopping bag over shoe so the boot slips on/off easier.
  10. Awe geeze,if wet wading falls count, change my number to 25+ C22
  11. Talk to the people in Boston ,Mass about g warming. You might get smashed with a snow shovel. There does seem to be more warm water species moving farther up the Atlantic coast over the last 5 years.I`m looking forward to catching my first snook or tarpon on the Md,De coast. Ocean rising concerns has become a big deal for low laying property owners.More regs are enacted each year to address how and where dwellings can be built.
  12. Umm Make that three times.Twice from a canoe, once off an ocean jetty. I never felt imminent danger or panic. WT about 47 deg,I was drifting thru a rocky area in the canoe, paying more attention to fishing than where I was going.Next thing ,I`m about to broach a semi hidden rock.I had a decision to make, hit the rock ,turn over lose everything,or what I did===stood up and jumped out. I managed to maintain contact with the canoe, that was now half full of water.I pulled it to a rock island, dewatered it and myself and continued to fish another 2 hours.2 guys about 70 yds away watched the event, but could not help due to the rock island between us.I would like to know what they said about "the crazy in the canoe" The other canoe dumping was in a pond, again in cold water.Totally my fault for not having the craft loaded properly.I hit the water and went looking for 2 boxes loaded with LC`s.I swam to shore with 1 in each hand.I did lose a lot of tackle and had the local dive team recover 5 rods and some tackle. That cost me a $200 donation to the fire company. The jetty-= anyone that has been on them knows how dangerous they can be.I`ve been on them a lot. This day as always,I had my corkers on[steel studded boots]. They improve your odds of staying upright, but one false step and your down.As I was sliding into the water,I laid my rod on top of the rocks.I climbed out ,dewatered the best I could, looked at the sky and said"OK,I got it" Without even making one cast, I went home. Anyone else get wet or do you want to admit it C22
  13. The game commission says no, but they don`t have a better explanation. If the food chain is poisoned form the bottom up, everything is affected. The quail were victims too.
  14. Fishing alone has its benefits and disadvantages. Alone I catch all the fish Come/go as I please Boat is in any position that good for me. No lateness or last minute drop outs No liability, for others, a really big one imo No fishing with novices, grandkids excepted Your bud isn`t feeding your LC`s to monster pike [2] With partner Safety issues,at least they can say where they last saw my body Share costs. Find patterns quicker Comradery Load/unload boat easier. I`m sure there is more I don`t like people inviting themselves onto my boat C22
  15. 2013/2014 winter was a horrible time for trout and red puppy drum in waters of the Delmarva peninsula and north. Thousands died from cold water shock. In 2013 we beat up on the reds in Va,but 2014 was defunct of them and the commercial guys said they saw thousands of deads due to cold shock. More bad news is that I`m seeing reports that more deads are starting to show this winter too. C22
  16. Agree. One might think Rick is a genius with all knowledge he exhibits.
  17. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dd7FixvoKBw This vid just cracks me up My son & daughter and their spouses are all in the ed field. Some of the stories oh my.
  18. Yeah,I had a green box too. Can`t remember how many Super Sixties I went thru. Spent a ton on the X15 paper unit. I had some of the first Lews Speed Sticks ever made. I used to suffer the slow retrieve on Left handed Ambassaduers. Then buzz gears for them came on the market..I bet I could still find a few in my junk. C22
  19. Nice job, looks like you have talent. That summer winter hook up is very economical to use and it keeps the boiler healthy too.I have worked on and repaired many boilers. The ones most apt to give trouble and leak were totally shut off during the summer. I had the same scenario as you.I made and installed a manifold right at the tankless coil with 4 ===1/4" outlets. I ran a 1/4" plastic tube to each sink and the outdoor shower.I now draw about 6 to 12 ozs of cold water before the hot water arrives, instead of a gallon or more.I don`t have the volume of hot water from the spigots as before ,but it is very livable. It is a time and money saver.Be aware to use the proper tubing for the pressure & temp of the system. I relocated southward and now suffer a heat pump. It took 5 yrs to get used to that system My hot water now is electrical, but I did the same thing with the manifold. It works well. C22
  20. Cool dog story. That reminds me of fat cat. This big ole tom cat kept showing up toward evening everyday. The kids started feeding him and it started gaining noticeable weight. So I`m thinking the cat is hanging around the barn and killing the mice and rats.Good cat! Over at the neighbors one day who lives at least 1/4 mile away, I spot the cat. I asked is that your cat.He answered no, but he shows up here everyday for lunch. Humm,I wondered where was his breakfast place.
  21. A fellow and wife were touring the mid west. At an Indian reservation the man sees an old Indian chief sitting on a blanket with a sign in front of him that said "I remember everything" So the guy thinks a bit and says "what did you have for breakfast on this date 3 years ago.The chief answered eggs. Just then the wife said they have to leave. 4 years later the the couple visited the reservation again. He looked around til he found the chief and said"how" The chief rubbed his chin a bit and said "scrambled"
  22. Good luck with this one
