  1. I wanted to get a pic of the mouth open but the bait was till in crossways which represents a good way to get hurt. She swarm away strong. Next time there I might troll some mojos or daisy chains======NOT
  2. Bass were sketchy today but who cares when one like this latches on to your jerk bait.A KVD yellow perch 200 gained the interest of this fellow/gal. The hit felt like a smack on the hand with a baton. The first time I saw the tail go by I`m thinkin state record LMB,Man I wish.Caught in a non tidal pond WT 45deg. I didn`t dare try the small net I carry so we did a 6 min battle til she came along boat side. It was def a two hander. I know stripped bass so I put this one at at least 30 lbs. A few photos and back to the water it went. I may never top that one for fresh water.
  3. I have the same light and really like it. Santa left it for me. On the subject of vests may I make some suggestions if buying one. ==big healthy plastic zipper== metal ones can bind and rust ==two belts with clasp buckles ==kill switch lanyard loops ==several pockets for lights and importantly a whistle. Should have Velcro locks ==padded collar that holds a blaze orange hood ==two pouches lower rear that hold leg straps == and of course make sure it fits an feels well
  4. I have been using the KVD jerk/slash bait 200 series. Basically a good bait that works well and catches fish. One produced a 4 lbr today. A minor problem, probably my fault ,cropped up when trying to remove the rear hook from a deep hooked fish. While wrestling the hook I broke the rear of the bait on two of them now. They could use a little better molded in fastener imo. A partial answer is to pinch the barbs so they remove easier. I will still buy/use them because ===well they catch. C22
  5. Here is something to think about http://pilotonline.com/news/military/local/navy-off-duty-seal-died-after-overturning-kayak-near-cape/article_f1601d9f-5ca4-59a0-bead-7ed6d6cb3573.html
  6. Yes indeed. This vid shows why.
  7. Thanks for all the input. As suggested I will do some homework before going there again. I`ll be heading to SCarolina soon so this glitch can wait. C22
  8. A local pond with homes around most but not all of the water has been a real good producer over the years. I go there twice a year at most, always during the winter. Total c & r . There was one other boat on the water with me one time in ten years . Someone posted the pond just off shore in the water as no trespassing private property==probably the HOA Here is the way I understand the law. If I enter the water from a state property highway easement zone, never touch any private shorelines or docks, then I am totally legal to be there. The water is public domain. Water flows into it from another pond a few miles away, then drains into a pond down stream. I plan to fish there soon, after I visit the county seat to get property boundaries.. I`m not looking for a fight but want to be prepared for a confrontation. The reason I`m nervous is because I lost entry privileges to three different spots just last year. Same situation, just no decent access. I don`t blame owners for closing down because of the way people treat places they don`t own or maintain, and /or liability Does anyone have any experience with a situation like this. Thanks C22
  9. Oh my ,that is just so bad to hear.My condolences to you.
  10. Crazy ain`t it,Mon,Tues at 2 deg in the morn. Then Thursday I rode Harley for 20 miles dressed in a long sleeve tee.Back to the cellar Sat
  11. RoLo love your logo
  12. LMAO ,where do you ice fish in FLA===Let me guess==the Mahogany Bar=kidding 45 deg at daylite today=three casts ==three crappies===300 hundred more ===zero Short ride on the Harley breathed some life into me.LIG
  13. I like cold wx,but common.2 degrees here with 0 deg at a nearby location. Recent snow will not melt, many schools closed, local events postponed. Can`t stand ice fishing. I`m supposed to be in South Carolina two weeks from now to fish Lake Murray. I hope that trip doesn`t get hurt C22.
  14. I will not tell my woes, but things seem to get better with time. I`m still struggling with my loss. Burtonxj . You might want to seek professional help to get through. Some times just a few words or a phrase can make things easier.
  15. Super Storm Sandy hit years ago so our government decided to drain a local pond ,about 80 acres, down to not much more than a small stream in anticipation of flooding. No flooding occurred. Just about all the fish went down stream to who knows where, thus creating the need to restock bass. The fishing has not recovered yet.
  16. No bass with the high skies
  17. I fish a small lake for crappies when the WT is cold around 38=40. The first two hrs or so of day break can make or break the trip. Once the sun hits the water, its time to fish lmb. C22
  18. What you and A-Jay said seems to apply to my trip. Thanks. Facing 35 degree wind ain`t easy,so I will have to do it more.
  19. The time was about noon,so not many shadows as far as I was casting. It was cold ,several shore lines had ice.
  20. OK, doing my regular winter thing today on a small pond [60 acres] today,it always treats me well. WT 39.4 Deg ice along edges..Sun at my back at 5 oclock, drifting along in 2mph breeze. Had some bass early and now dried up. It was cold, ice on braid. So I turned around to let the sun warm my hands a bit and my cast to where I had just fished and drifted over produced two bass about 2-2.5 lbs and 2 pickerel==22to 23",on 4 casts Same rod ,same lure, same, same.===Difference the sun was at 10:00 X the direction I was casting /retrieving Question here======could the direction the lure is coming relating to the sun shine make a difference.?
  21. https://huntfish.mdc.mo.gov/fishing/fish-diseases/melanosis-black-spot-blotchy-bass I have caught many bass with some spots but never that many. This one was 15" released alive and well. Its the only one with spots I have landed in that particular water https://www.google.com/search?q=bass+with+spots+pics&biw=1120&bih=577&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwisw-n45oHRAhXK4iYKHTukDZEQsAQIGQ
  22. It was almost short sleeve fishing yesterday while the front was moving in.The bass and pickerel were hammering jerkbaits. Today it was gloves on and off all day, heat paks in pocket, ice in guides a bit.Mild wind but irritating.WT 40.1 deg. Most bass today were not just tipping, they were smashing 78`s in a few different bluegill colors.Check this 15" critter.Would like to see my face when it came up.Lost two LC`s today, one cast break off and a toothy thing got the other.Still a fabulous day.Winter is me C22
  23. You guys are hitters for sure, great report
  24. I do well with a piece of blood worm,# 4 hook, small spinner blade with some red or green beads. Crawlers work too.Use enough weigh to hold bottom. Falling tide seems to be better.Small blade baits work too. LOL C22
  25. Be thankful that I have to opportunity to fish when/where I want to and maybe add a few new species to my brag list. And to be a good steward to the resources C22
