  1. If you race ice bikes competitively I suggest you practice crawling as fast as possible. If you go down in the front of the pack it may come in handy. I watched snow machine drag racing on a lake yrs ago. I was amazed at the speed.
  2. I`m not a rage guy ,but have seen it happen twice.Thankfully I was on shore and could get away from him. Would Ish qualify? C22
  3. My wife lives with a bear in the winter.
  4. Very good thread and answers. Yup those big fish will turn your arms to rubber. My son in law is a big guy and wanted to catch a shark with a stand up rig . A 114 Penn on a broomstick was the weapon. We were only 1/2 mile off shore drifting with a flounder rack for only about 15 minutes til a hook up. 45 minutes later we get sight of a 10' approx. 250 lb sand shark. Another 20 minutes it came boatside for a picture and just then the hook pulled out.Perfect c & r. I asked if he wanted another one . No way. I almost had to hand feed him the water bottle. Most of the beach going swimmers are totally unaware a what huge critters are only a short distance from them. Yaking a bait out about 100 yds to catch sharks is very popular around here. Its all c & r with regs that prohibit even totally dry beaching them. You should see the faces of the moms and their kids, along with the inevitable dumb question" did you catch that here" C22
  5. "You can buy those ? " Jake on Two and One Half Men "You can`t stand the truth" "Go ahead, make my day"
  6. Awe geeeze, ya mean that isn`t real
  7. They were setting illegal nets off season, catching ,and selling rockfish. Its not the first for this area or several other places on the east coast. The demise of this fish has caused a 25 % coast wide reduction for 2015 partly due to illegal fishing. Many sport fishermen are outraged at these crooks.
  8. The most astounding thing to me is the approval of the community as a whole. They see nothing wrong with these absurd violations. Bunch of smibs These guys stole from everyone on the east coast including there own commercial brothers.I hope they suffer greatly.
  9. Do all the pre R`s have a clear bill? Are they cupped or flat Thanks C22
  10. I just picked up two of them @ $20 ea. Salisbury ,Md. Haven`t used them much do to the hard water, but the little bit I did get in with them suited me.Not sure they would handle a heavy spinner bait well.Jerks and jigs will be the primary use. C22
  11. It was March with really cold 45 deg water when I passed an island camp site on the river. One kid was there and I spotted two more in a canoe that was overloaded.I told them in no uncertain terms that they would die if they turned the canoe over.I must have impressed them ,because they called the warden for help. The warden flagged me and asked me to go to the island and pick up the other kid and the gear. Back on shore all three got a ticket for no life preservers. I reminded the three of them it was cheap price to pay next to a funeral. Thinking back I should have offered help right away at first sight. I`m glad things worked OK. C22
  12. Word of the day: indolent in·do·lent (ĭn′də-lənt) adj. 1. a. Disinclined to exert oneself; habitually lazy. See Synonyms at lazy. b. Conducive to inactivity or laziness; lethargic: Yup ,Iv`e met those kind of fish too.
  13. Guys, never pee over the side with motor running & in gear. If you go over it could be a long swim. Actually, when I think that over ,girls shouldn`t do that either.
  14. Yup,lost two LC`s to them this year before ice. Never even got to load up on them
  15. Everyone has little things they do to make their fishing day better. Maybe you can list one or two of them for all to see. Thanks I always have super glue on board ,mainly to glue plastics onto jig heads. They stay put and last longer. Iv`e been doing this for over 25 years now.The glue can be used to repair certain torn plastics too. If something is really important that you need to take on a trip, put your vehicle keys in or on it. This may be helpful in your latter years. C22 Lets hear your tip.
  16. LMAO,my bud and I saw that same thing on Murray a few yrs back.
  17. My trigger===Oxygen
  18. A quality beam doesn`t lie, nor does it take batteries. A guess would be that it cost less too. They don`t list +- accuracies on them With a scale you could weigh a suspect cull, remember it, weigh the replacement, make the call. Thus you handle the fish less. C22
  19. Pickerel = aka = snot rocket. I didn`t use to like them, but now they get me thru the winter so I target them often . My big so far is 5.5 lbs x 27" There isn`t much they will not eat. Some favorites are hard jerks, soft jerks ,tubes ,paddle tails, hair jigs. When the water is 50+ rattle traps work well as well as weightless super flukes and frogs in the pads. They are death on bluegills, crappies and shinners. Not so much on lmb form a study I did. They are decent on the table once you know how to bone them out. C22
  20. I don`t carry a scale. I know if its a good one or not. I`m more apt to measure a fish.
  21. Same for me. I had a good trip to Lake Ontario and we beat up on lots of good smallies. However one good trip does not make a good year. Local fishing was so ,so.The dark side[salt] was a struggle for the effort I put forth.I got shut out of the Lake Murray trip and the Charleton,SC trip already this year, because of cold water From the good stats I see on this thread, marking me on a curve would not do any good. I may be asked to stand in the corner til I promise to do better I may have to lower my standards or maybe average out over the last 10 years to achieve a decent mark. C 22
  22. I used to have 2-1/2 story farm house dated back to 18 something. Firewood was the only feasible fuel to not go broke . It was fantastic heat. Next place had oil, cast iron baseboard,it was nice ,but it wasn`t wood. Now, heat pump .First five yrs I hated it. Two positives. It makes AC in the summer and my bills are very reasonable. High bill so far was about $210. The next one may set a record. C 22
  23. Yes it does. Question is, how did they get it back in the water.
