  1. There is absolutely nothing to brag about in my state, that’s why I fish the next state over!
  2. Anyone know if there will be any Columbus Day sales, or is the TW fall sale and Omnia moving sale it for this month?
  3. At first I didn’t like them, the used to rub the pointer finger on my casting hand and create a blister. However, that was a different brand, I don’t seem to have that issue with the Lews grips. Now that I have been using the Lews grips for a while I’m actually starting to prefer them myself, although I do still like cork.
  4. d**n this thread! My wallet can’t take it ??
  5. Anyone had a chance to check these out yet? They look cool but $349 seems steep for a Lews rod, especially since the Pro TI didn’t seem like a hit. I like Lews for moving baits but not sure how they are for bottoms contact.o
  6. Interesting thread, I don’t think I have found that rod yet. I have owned a lot of different makes like Megabass, Shimano, St Croix, Duckett, Lews, Bass Pro brand, I have an original Carrot Stick, Powell and I’m sure a few more I am missing. But I can’t say for sure any of them have given me that “I must have another if this breaks” feeling, especially with so many other companies to try. I have always wanted to try Cashion rods, I think of anything I have now breaks I may pick up one of them.
  7. Nope, electric outboards. No more gas of any kind, and it will cost you $200 per hour to charge your 27 batteries to run it ?
  8. I used to live about an hour south of Allentown, although I was much to young to know what I was doing back then. My father was in a Bass club back then though, he would sometimes take me in tournaments.
  9. I wish there was still a small shop near me with a good selection. I think there are a couple of saltwater shops, but no real freshwater places. Bass pro for me is about a 40 minute ride, and every time I go there they have nothing I want. Every.Single.Time. I do like going for the trip though, even if the inventory is underwhelming.
  10. I have a KVD smoke, for the price it is really hard to beat. The ONLY thing that stopped me from buying anymore is that it’s so d**n heavy. Most if not all of my other reels are under 6.5oz, some under 6 and compared to them to me the KVD smoke feels like an anchor. I also had one of the KVD Lews reels, I was not impressed, seemed like just another Lews reel to me.
  11. I’m going to throw out another option here, the Powell Diesel rod. At $89 it can’t be beat, they are extremely light and sensitive, they fish more like a rod double it’s price. No warranty, however most warranties these days cost that much to replace a broken rod anyway so if it breaks it’s easier to buy a new one. I also have a Zodias, and for me it’s very hard to justify the price of that rod over the Powell.
  12. Mine as well, mostly because it keeps 99% of the A-holes off the water. The other 1%, that’s me!?
  13. I have that exact Zodias you are looking at with the exact same reel, it’s crazy how light the setup is. I also use it with 16# floro and the combo is used for T-rigs, for me it spends a lot of time in my hands and I have no regrets.
  14. Hit Cook Pond on Saturday, we put a good whuppin on’em. 18 in the boat, another 5 or six didn’t make it in. One was a little over 4lbs, and she was still full of eggs but she destroyed a Spinnerbait. Most were in the 2lb range all spawned out, also had a couple of pike in there. Most were on top water, couple on a crankbait and the rest on plastics.
  15. I bought some Siebert jigs, other than that I was able to fend off the bait monkey! However, I was not able to fend off the firearms monkey?
  16. Just put in my order for a few jigs, been so busy lately I almost forgot until I saw this thread !
  17. Texas rigged around structure-brush, rocks, trees, weed beds. I have won many tournaments and have caught my biggest fish on them.
  18. For me, hands down it’s a Zoom Baby Brush Hog.
  19. No experience with the reels, but my father has a speed demon cranking rod that is really, really wobbly. It catches fish though, if you are looking for budget the best rods I have found under $100 are by far and away the new Powell Diesel rods. Super light and sensitive, no warranty but for $89 or less on sale that doesn’t really make a difference to me.
  20. My grandfather used to take broken rods and stick them in the ground in the garden to tie vegetable plants to as they grew
  21. I like something in the 6’s for moving baits generally. If I’m moving the bait/line with my rod,for example a jig or a jerkbait, I’m going at least 7.5-8.
  22. Midway has Expride A’s on clearance. Yup, the bait monkey won that fight.
  23. I have tried and tried and tried to like braid. I just don’t like it. Straight fluoro on spinning and bottom contact, mono on everything else for me.
  24. Whopper plopper. I have had all different sizes, I bought the original when it first came out. I have tried and tried for years, it’s beyond me how anybody catches fish on them ??‍♂️
  25. Reading this reminds me of the struggle I went through the last couple of years. I am not new to fishing, but I was a much better warm water fisherman than cold water. For years I struggled with cold water, then a few years ago I after buckling down and really focusing on it, I became much more proficient in cold water. Little did I know it would have such an impact on my warm water fishing. These last couple of years I feel like my warm water has suffered, and honestly it’s a mental thing. After struggling with warm water for a couple of years I finally now feel like i am back to where I was with it, and it didn’t affect my cold water performance at all. The mind games and mental blocks this sport can have on you is really amazing when you think about it.
