  1. That is bullcrap. If he was law enforcement then he was a very uninformed officer! If he was a cop then I was the prince of Nigeria. Look at his posts (the ones that have not been removed), all but two are negative towards someone.
  2. A regular policeman can ask for it but you do not have to give it. If you say "I dont have one" they will radio the DNR. The city does not have any control on waterways, just land. The county sheriff and his deputies can enforce fish and game laws as they have control of the waterways as well as the land. The DNR can and will search any part of your house if they have reason to believe you have fish or wildlife in possession. But that is it, that is all they are allowed to look for without a search warrant. If they open a drawer and find a kilo of crack cocaine they cannot do a darn thing about it. If you refuse them access to your home you will be placed in custody while they do their search, and depending on what kind of a guy you have been they will either let you go or haul you off to jail.
  3. Take your batteries to autozone or any other place that does free checks. They will be able to tell you if they are good or not. It sure sounds like you have something that is not shutting off completely, that is called a ghost draw. Even when everything is turned off, something is using juice and draining your battery. Are all of your electronics, livewell, dash, everything connected to one lead that runs to the battery? If so, wire in a master switch to that positive line. That way when you are not using the boat you can flip the switch and kill everything completely so nothing can take any juice.
  4. If you have the electronics wired correctly you can put 12V through the electronics off a 24V system. That is okay. But do it wrong and you will fry them. BUT, even with the electronics hooked up correctly you are draining your batteries unevenly. One (the one with the electronics) will drain quicker than the other, and your 24V motor is only as good as the weakest battery. It will shut off when the weakest one drops below 11.2V Mine just sat for 2.5 weeks at the shop getting the motor worked on, when it came home I plugged in the TM batteries and they were back to 100% in about 15 minutes. It might have been sooner, but when I went out 15 minutes later they were green.
  5. I used to get it, I enjoyed it. I stopped reading them when every page was an advertisement. I cancelled 2 years ago and now it seems every month I get at least 2-3 calls from them wanting me to resubscribe. I've told them to stop calling but they don't seem to listen. I just blocked their number. I was thinking about getting it again but not after all these annoying calls. I have heard real good things about FLW mag, so I think I am going to subscribe to that.
  6. I'm a little confused. So the strippers spooted on a bass boat?
  7. I have noticed (and entered) quite a few giveaways from the BR facebook page. I was wondering why you don't do giveaways for the forum users here, I am sure a lot of people do not use facebook? Just wondering is all.
  8. Sounds like wind knots. It happens to supple braid when on a spinning reel. The wind will blow your line loose as it is being put on the spool and then the next turn of the reel puts a tight wind around a loose wind. This causes a loop which turns into a crossover (loop crosses over the line and creates what looks like a backlash). Spray your spool down with some line conditioner, it should help a little. If you are fishing on calm days, then I would say its your reel or technique. Sounds like the technique is right so could be the reel.
  9. A typical battery will draw down to 70% or so after 6 months of sitting. You either have bad batteries or a ghost draw. I'd guess you have both, the ghost draw keeps dragging your batteries all the way dead which has ruined them. On all chargers, when you unplug and replug it will go through the charging cycle again for 5-10 minutes. I am a little confused though. You talk as if you have multiple batteries for your trolling motor, which would suggest a 24v system but then you also have your electronics wired to the same batteries? Not good.
  10. Summer kill. Not enough oxygen in the water.
  11. Here it is right here http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fishing-Sharpening-Stone-for-Fish-Hooks-and-Snares-/360380449624?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item53e8594358 I do not use the V, I just use the flat part of the stone withe smaller hooks. With big hooks like spinnerbait hooks I will run them down the V.
  12. I don't know where you can get them honestly. I've had it since I was 4 or 5 when my father gave it to me. I'm sure berkley or mustad or even BPS brand would have them. Probably by the fillet knives, stringers, scales, and stuff like that.
  13. Is your printed one only void for 2 weeks then? That sort of stinks. You might want to just pony up the $5. Its less than the cost of a pack of senkos to ensure you do not get a ticket!
  14. Yes. Every time I grab a lure I check the hooks real quick. If they are not sharp I sharpen them real quick. I use a small hook sharpening stone, its small enough to keep in my pocket. It usually takes 3 passes on one side of the hook, 3 on the other, and then 1 down the top to take a rusty dull hook to needle sharp.
  15. Yes, they can if they want to. But they do not have to. If you get a nice warden he may take you back to his truck with him and run your info through dispatch to confirm. If you have a busy officer or a ***** he will write you a ticket and move on. You have to have it on your person. A buddy of mine had to do it twice, the officer is a good friend so he didnt mind it but I suspect he would not go to that much trouble with someone else. It stopped our fishing for a while when he was getting his info checked though. If you can print it online, do it! Print 5 copies. One for your truck, one for your boat, one in your wallet, and the other two somewhere in boxes.
  16. You will never be able to get it out. They will sink, but if you want them to sink even more use a weighted keel swimbait hook.
  17. Check your walmart. Mine has a bunch of puppies and spook jrs in the clearance for $1 each. Clear and bone only.
  18. Their moto is hunt fish camp. I thought all of them had fishing stuff? Probably 1/4 of the store is fishing stuff here. 1/8 hunting, 1/8 camping, and 1/2 clothing/shoes. I have never seen the clearance baits there before, just the bins in the middle. These were on the end of 4 aisles on the back side. Wouldnt have ever seen them except I had to cut through to get around some people blocking the main way. They had some terminator jigs and other stuff there too but I wasnt really in need of anything else.
  19. A couple other sales also, hit up dicks for some cheap line. Seaguar red label for $6, sufix siege for $5, 1/4lb spools of big game for $5. Went to gander and they had yamamoto senkos in 4" and 5" for $4.25 a pack.
  20. Hit up dicks for some line. Got some seaguar red label for $6, sufix siege for $5 and I grabbed three 1/4lb spools of big game for $5 a spool.
  21. Oh and yum f2 baits for a buck and Tour KVD rods for $69.99.
  22. If you havent seen it yet almost all walmarts are having good sales in the clearance section. Just hit up mine. Bomber spinnerbaits, zara puppies, super spook jr, and popr all for a buck
  23. They obviously arrested them for something other than a fish and game violation, since I doubt seining a creek is an arrest-able offense.. The nets/buckets had nothing to do with what they were being arrested for so he didnt collect them. The officer probably could have gotten in trouble for leaving their person property, but as illegals they are going straight to jail and then back home if convicted of being in this country illegally. That is probably why he left them.
  24. I fish mine as subsurface/topwater. For subsurface (less than a foot under the surface) I use a 6'4 ML Fast baitcaster, 8lb line, a 4/0 EWG hook, and a 4.5-5" fluke. I use this in open water. For fishing them as topwater, I use a 7' M Fast baitcaster with 14# mono, a 4/0 WORM HOOK, and a 4.5-5" fluke. For the topwater, I am making the bait jump out of the water and walk around on the surface. I use it mostly in pads or when I see bass chasing bluegills in weeds.
  25. Without naming too many actual products... these are what I feel every bass angler needs. Stick bait (senko style) in 5". Curl tail worm in 7.5" and 10". A craw with active claws (rage craw type) in 4" A couple different creature baits (beavers, hawgtails, etc) in 4" Topwater buzz frogs/toads A fluke style bait in 4.5-5" For colors, a green pumpkin, a watermelon, and black. On the fluke, I like the bluegill color zoom has, the smokin shad, and just a plain old albino white. Now if you want to really get a variety you can get some finesse/trick worms for shakey heading. Some tubes for flpping/jigging. And any of the other thousands of plastics out there.
