  1. Just an organism. Lives on all sorts of animals. Doesn't live off them, but lives on them. Won't hurt your fish at all.
  2. I take used plastics off at the end of the day and if they are still hook-able I'll put them back in the bag to be used again. I guess I'm cheap like that.
  3. When the boat in front gets on plane and starts going, let the next go.
  4. You can get a pro max brand new on ebay for 40. They sell for that every week. Pro max 2 go closer to 50. Last I looked there were dozens of listings for 50-55 for brand new reels. Not really a deal.
  5. I have the 6'9 panfish. Great rod. 6920 will be too small for it though. a 1000 series shimano or 25 series pflueger is the correct size reel. If you are already decided on a 6920 then you will need a 5' to 6' rod. Any longer and it will not balance at all. Been there, tried that. I seriously can not say enough good things about the 6'9 ul panfish. A panfisherman's dream rod.
  6. Green pumpkin black flake, green pumpkin purple/green flake, and watermelon black flake are my favorites. I have not had any success at all with varieties of black. Carolina rig, or split shot rig! I have also had good luck putting a 1/16 bullet weight on one so I could get through some sparse hydrilla. I use custom buzzbaits, so can't help you there. I have not tied on a buzzbait that did not catch fish though, so I'd just look for one with a quality hook and wire. Throw those horny toads anywhere you want. Open water, moss, laydowns, etc. They will catch fish everywhere.
  7. Yo-zuri does not have much stretch, I would reserve that for when you get the crankbait rod.
  8. If you watch the scott martin challenge where he fishes with roland for bedding bass (they catch a 10#) he explains what gear you want. H or XH rod, 7'6 minimum length Parabolic bend on the rod Fast gear ratio reel 80# braid 1-3oz tungsten weight flippin hook I remember him mentioning that if you use less than 80 your risk of breaking off goes way up. Now, I doubt you are fishing for 10# fish (that would be a near state record!) so I would say try 65# and see if that helps. Its the shock of the big weight and heavy rod that is needed to punch, when all of that makes contact with the fish there is a heavy shock load capable of breaking lighter braid. Especially if it is older braid. You might also try the slick8 version of power pro, in 65# it breaks at 102#. Regular power pro 65# breaks at 79#. Regular power pro 50# breaks at 60#. Also, put a bic in your pocket and burn that tag end!
  9. Mono will help you very much since you are fishing them on the faster side. It will reduce that initial force when the fish grabs the bait and you set the hook. I would suggest a stretchier mono since you are not throwing into thick cover. Something like sufix elite, that stuff is like rubber bands! As for the hookset, as long as you have good hooks you really do not have to set the hook. Especially when burning the bait. The fish will grab the bait and close his mouth while you are reeling, that will penetrate the hooks, just sweep the rod forward to set them all the way. Setting the hook with the fast action rod and fluoroclear will just tear the hooks loose if the fish does not have it deep.
  10. Are you using a crankbait rod? If not they are probably ripping the trebles out when they make that big dig 5-10 seconds after being hooked. I ran into the same exact problem this year when burning it. The fish would slam it and with the stiffer graphite Med Fast rod there was just not enough give to keep them hooked up.
  11. Usually, the slower the charge the better. But it really doesn't matter much with these smart chargers, they all maintain batteries very well. The big advantage of the 15a/bank vs 5a/bank is that it will charge 3 times faster. So if you are draining your batteries each day and need to recharge overnight for the next days fishing you will want the higher amp capacity. With that being said, you probably do not need it. My MK is a 5a per bank and it is plenty for me. Once a year we take a family trip for a week where the boat gets used quiet a bit. From 5am to 9pm on and off. The batteries are pretty wore down by the end of the day. I just plug in the charger before going to bed and by morning they are fully charged (group 27). Only once did it not get a full charge overnight, and that is when I forgot and went 2 days on one charge. But even then they were to 75% by morning which was plenty for that day and they were charged by the following morning. 10a per bank would be my suggestion, I don't see when you would NEED 15a per bank unless you only have a couple hours to plug in the charger and need to fish the next day.
  12. For bluegills? Anything that you drop in front of them. Last summer I was on a real good river bluegill bite. C&R and threw back at least 50 keepers (over 8"). The bite was so good that I went through every redworm I had. When I was running out I kept a sheepshead as I heard gills would eat cutbait. Well, little tiny chunks of sheepshead meat does in fact catch bluegills! As a kid we used to catch them on cigarette filters and pieces of string tied to hooks. But, if you want a more "advanced" option try the gulp line of baits. I have 6 jars of the mini earthworms in the boat at all times, they flat out catch fish. I rarely take worms when bluegill fishing anymore. For crappies, can't beat the 1" gulp minnow on a 1/32 ball head jig.
  13. Go into shallow water mode and turn your sensitivity down a little bit until you can still mark the weeds but they don't clutter the screen.
  14. Hold the fish with the head away from you on a table. Put the point of your knife between the eyes and back about 1/2" with the blade facing the head (away from you!). Push the knife in and push forward splitting the head between the eyes. The fish will immediately expire without knowing what hit them.
  15. I don't use yamamotos very often. Just a waste of money. I'd rather catch 10% less fish and save 75% more baits. Big bites are good, the local shop here has 100 packs for $25. That one is not a senko for sure, senkos do not have hook slots.
  16. Lews speed spool laser mg goes for $65 every day on ebay. But, that is a good deal as the rod is an okay rod.

  18. I have a MK but not that exact one. It has never let me down. If I had to buy a new one it would be MK for sure. The dual pro lasted 3 years and it was toast, MK has been going strong for 4 years now.
  19. They are 1 size underrated. So 6# is like 8# and 10# is like 12# and so on. I love the 2# and 4# for panfish. Have not tired the heavier line yet, but I plan to as soon as I can find it for a good price!
  20. Yeah, mine are like that. I have no idea what they are called, but they have a clamp that goes around the battery with a screw on top to hold it tight. They are out there!
  21. I'd also guess interference.
  22. First, I would have tried a buzzbait in any protected bays that look like the last picture. Picture perfect buzzbait area. Otherwise I would have looked deep, drove around until i found some shelves, sand bars, rock bars, ect that are holding fish and ran a deep diver trough them. Position the boat so you are casting with the wind.
  23. I bought the same line from the same seller a couple weeks ago for $9.99. I checked it over, thinking it was probably chinese but it seems like the real deal. All the paperwork is perfect, the barcodes are correct, and nothing looks any different. I say its legit. That price is probably cheaper than you will find in any local store.
  24. I fish a white split tail spinnerbait trailer on them most of the time. I have found it to really help in the highly pressured areas.
