  1. Thanks everybody! I hope one of you wins it next week!
  2. Through tw's facebook page. And yes, its the new IMX. I do have to wait my turn in line for the Curado. Which is fine with me!
  3. So Im the guy that had never won anything, until now. Just won a Curado I of my choice (went with an HG) on an IMX of my choice (went with an 894C) this will be my first Loomis since an OLD L905 (1990) that I fished calico bass with for years. I really dont like ACS reel seats, but Im willing to give it a shot again on a free rod. Just needed to tell people that will understand the coolness of winning this! It was pretty lost on my wife.....
  4. Those Matta Dredge Brush are my favorite jigs. I love how they look, but the way they catch fish is what keeps me buying them. I have not at this point (knock on wood) had a fish throw one of the dredge jigs. Im sure itll happen eventually, but Ive caught a lot of fish on them with zero losses so far....
  5. This was my first thought as well. When Im not frogging with mine it has a jig tied on. It performs really well with both baits for how I fish.
  6. Many of the giant bass in CA eat hatchery raised, state planted trout dont they? Isnt it sort of the same thing?
  7. I fish both 745 and 735 and theyre just different rods. It totally depends on your hands. Champions are sensitive enough jig rods for fishing jigs in timber like I do, I much prefer DXs when throwing tx rigs though. I love my 745 for 3/8-1/2oz jigs. Feels very good in my hands.
  8. One last thing to add here, with that swing for the fences hook set, if your drag is slipping while youre crossing his eyes, its all useless. Button that drag down, or thumb it for the hook set. Two large hooks need a lot of pull to penetrate a bass' mouth.
  9. I have 2 C-Rig rods. For lighter weights (3/8 and under), and (usually) shallower water I fish a Dobyns Champion 763, its a 7'-6" rod rated 8-17lb line and 1/4 to 1oz weights. For (usually) deeper water and heavier (1/2 to 3/4oz) weights I fish a Champion 804C its an 8 foot rod rated at 12-25 lb line and 3/8 to 1-1/2oz weights. Just kind of depends how you fish a c-rig. They both pull double duty when Im fishing shallow, or timber. The 763 is a great wacky rigged senko rod, and the 804 is a great jig rod when I need them. The 763 has 30lb braid main line and the 804 has 65lb braid main line. Ill fish mono or flouro leaders on either rod. Usually 12lb on the 763 and 12,15 or 17 on the 804.
  10. Love those Dredge jigs. Top of the mouth EVERY TIME!
  11. Heres some more for you yanks with hard water. These are from this morning as well.
  12. Had a really nice jig bite until the sun poked out this morning. Got 10 nice ones on the jig before it was over. 3/8oz Brush head Mata Dredge jig black/blue with black/blue flake rage craw.
  13. D-Bomb, Culprit Fat Max, 6.5 or 7.5 Yum Ribbontail worm.
  14. For those that say customer service doesnt sell them, let me tell you a story. I placed a "regular" sized order from Mike, more than $20 less than $50. The kind that my wife doesnt ask about! I got his item shipped email in 5 days or so, but a week later the jigs werent here (theyre always here in 2 days, always). I emailed Mike for a tracking number, telling him they hadnt arrived yet, and along with my tracking number came an email that said "Please let me know if it doesnt show up, Ill take care of you". Who does that? USPS miraculously found the package after I filed a complaint so he never had to take care of me, but he wouldve. I was a loyal customer before that, but Ill buy Mikes jigs til I stop fishing after that! Theyre not all I buy, but theyre what I buy most.
  15. What are these swinbapes you speak of? Are they excluded in the TW memorial day sale?
  16. Whatever the red/black color is called was working tonight in the regular size! 9 strikes 7 hookups 6 landed.
  17. All mine are GP or unpainted.
  18. I love them. As has been said, the paint jobs wear off after a few fish, but only because fish are actually eating them..... I fish all three variants, the pad crasher, pad crasher jr and poppin pad crasher with great success. I also like the Koppers when theyre on sale.
  19. Ive been very blessed with the opportunities Ive had in long range fishing. Cedros has a special place in my memories. Yeah Makairas are looking like the real deal at this point. Theres enough guys fishing them that if they were breaking youd hear about it.
  20. Yellowtail arent tunas, theyre jacks closely related to amber jacks. A 30 lber at Cedros is a teenager. My pb 56 came from Cedros on the longrod and surface iron. Ive spent a couple hundred days of my life around Cedros, and it is a beautiful place. I have been anchored at Cedros when you cast off the bow for a calico bass and off the stern for a yellowfin tuna or yellowtail. Magical place that Ill always love. We had the 50lb squid eating mackerel off a gaff hook one afternoon like they were trained pets. Theyd raise their tentacles slowly out of the water and pull them off. Unreal experience. Ive pet baby elephant seals on the head while walking the beach. Like I said its a magical, beautiful rock. Okumas are building a decent reputation in the SoCal long range scene. In the past their gear didnt hold up well, but they actually listened to anglers and made some really positive changes.
  21. Plum crazy rage craws look pretty nice.... And for some reason, the lakes I fish, plum gets bit. A lot.
  22. Agree with Teal. Fish it, its a fishing reel. They dont go bad or anything. Its a pretty nice reel that isnt made anymore. You cant buy a nicer reel for what you can sell it for, so fish it. Flush the bearings and theyll fish really light weights like a champ.
  23. I fish 1/2 oz more than any other size. I get bit just fine with it.
  24. Senkos I have caught a few on them, but catch more on zoom finese worms by a large margin. I keep buyin and tryin though!
  25. I bought my first dobyns about a year ago and that was it. They feel like extensions of my arm. I now own all dobyns. I need another DX745 and Ill be all set. I also fish all Shimano reels. They just feel right.
