  1. Is there a specific way to thumb a baitcaster? or is it just personal preference? I always find myself using just the tip of my thumb, but i see a lot of videos of people putting almost their entire thumb on the spool.. am I doing it wrong? or is there no specific way
  2. I almost exclusively fish t-rigged worms, so tonight I wanted to go out and learn something new. It was cloudy and drizzling. I went from 6-8pm, and It was around 57 degrees outside. (i was fishing a golf course pond) I threw a white spinner bait with a silver willow leaf and gold colorado blade, and only got one strike the whole night (didnt hook the fish) then i switched to a chrome colored rattle-trap and caught a tiny fish. Whenever I go out and I cant figure something out, I always take it as an opportunity to learn more, and what my mistakes were. What would you have done differently?
  3. If you were a kid with a canoe and no electronics (hint hint), what would your fall fishing strategy be and what lures would use?
  4. I fish texas rigged worms religiously, and im talking like 99.9% of the time i fish a texas rigged worm. I started fishing fluorocarbon line for the added feel of the bait and bite. I went with 8lb line so i would have an easier time with it on my spinning gear. I have already noticed the memory issue with the fluorocarbon, and I get knots every so often. What would be the best setup for spinning gear? I love the feel and "invisibility" of the fluoro, Just not the knots. what do you think of braided line with a fluoro leader? Thanks.
  5. So, at this point in my fishing "career", I have a lot of knowledge, but obviously there is always something new to learn... Im always trying to learn new things and when something stumps me I seek out the answer until I find it. Anyway, today I took my friend out fishing... I took him to a spot where I always catch fish around 3-4 lbs... He had never been fishing before. I taught him how to use a plastic worm and away we went. I will list his gear and my gear so you know what we were using, His Gear: 8lb stren original green line, silver size 4/O hook, 7.5inch watermelon color culprit plastic worm. My Gear: 8lb Berkley Trilene 100% fluorocarbon line, silver size 4/O hook (same as my friend) 7.5 inch grape and black culprit worm. Anyway, I ended up catching about 5 small fish... just bigger than my palm. He caught 2 fish, and they were both a good 3lbs. The spot that we were at, I never catch anything smaller than 2lbs... so why did I only catch smallies tonight? It was my first time fishing with the fluorocarbon line.. Im not sure if my gear is turning the bigger fish away or something.. what do you think it could be? or just coincidence? Thanks!
  6. Here is the attachment of the spot. Sorry!
  7. So my friend and I went fishing tonight, we are both very new to bass fishing and are trying to learn as much as we can. Anyway, we stopped at a random spot on the road tonight by a lake and started fishing... we caught 10 bass in 45 minutes all on texas rigged worms. Here is a picture of the spot attached, and I will try to add as much detail as I can. We fished right to the right of the bridge casting towards the top of the screen.. As you can see there are trees to the left, and lots of cover for fish... and to the right is a flat bank all the way down... now, when we got there I figured the fish would be near the cover or near the bank... I started fishing the cover and caught 5 fish, my friend was casting straight out the whole time and he also caught 5 fish. Right under the bridge is a dam and there is a steady flow of water. My question is what made this spot so good? the fish were literally everywhere we casted, out in open water, near the bank, near cover... We are trying to learn as much about bass fishing as possible so any help would be appreciated! Thanks. Oh! it was also cloudy today and raining off and on. Idk if that helps.
  8. I fish in local ponds around the southern va area.... I always use texas rigged worms and that works pretty well, Would casting spoons be a good lure choice in small lakes and ponds?
