Going to be fishing Aerojet in 2 weeks...anyone have any success there recently? What baits are working best? Any favorite spots?

I don't know that there's a general "catch all" bait out there - if there was forums like this wouldn't exist! But if I was packing a light box I'd take dark colored ol' monsters, a rebel pop-r, a gold/black x-rap, and some horny toads. Get some moss green braid and you're in good shape to hit up a lot of different conditions.

jonnysmith... How shallow is it there? Can you get there in a 18ft bass boat?

Sounds like you're talking about the L-67 that runs between Holiday Park and 8th Street. The bass have access to the marsh but you can still find some good topwater action in the evenings. Lots of 2-4 lb bass in the area but it's definitely tougher this time of year. If you fish west up the more narrow canal there's less pads and more rocks but you can still find some smallies there. Dark worms, poppers, toads, and stick baits work well. As BassinLou said same things you would use anywhere in the Everglades. Good luck!

BassinLou...we fished the west side of US-27. There's a ramp right on the Broward/Palm Beach Line...it's hidden so you gotta really look out for it. Run about a mile south and start fishing the finger canals. There's nice current hitting the tips of each finger and lots of ambush zones. Best part is that the marsh is pretty much filled in so the fish stay in the canal in this area. I only hope everyone catches and releases here...would be a shame for this to get fished out. When I was there we fished from about 7AM - 12 and brought in a ton of fish. Evening fishing should be even better! Good luck!

Been reading a lot about how the fish down south are in the marsh/flats since the water levels are higher...but there's gotta be some spots out there! I tried a new spot north on US-27...fishing the finger canals produced 25+ bass in about 3-4 hours. Most were about 2lbs but we brought in a couple that were 3-5. Went back to Holiday Park this morning and it was crap...seems most people agree unless you can get out of the canals. So...who else has found some spots that produce?

I was out there this morning...tried everything under the sun and only brought in a couple bass. Unless you can get deeper in the marsh you won't have great luck this time of year. Even L-67 off the trail has slowed down. There are some nice spots further north on US-27. We killed it up that way just a few days ago. Dark worms and gold/black stick baits worked well. Good luck!

I never use a swivel...you can use an Alberto Knot to tie line to line ( ). If you're adding line to a spool use 4 turns...if you're tying on a leader you can use 7. Always make the loop with the thicker line and you can't go wrong! Best part about this know is the more you pull on it the tighter it gets...which means you can trim the tags as close to the knot as possible without worrying about it slipping. Braided to lure I use a palomar knot. I've never had a knot slip using these two methods. Enjoy!
